[HATE CHOICE]
You had a choice when you took the quest from preston. You're locked in because already told Preston you'd help. Talking to them's just formalities.
like where's the option to demand payment/reward up front, and then walk away without helping?
I want to be a prick, dammit
to be fair, here you have the good angel-dialogue option(number 4), the more neutral ones (1 and 2) and the more aggressive one (3). If you dont wanna help at all you just walk away, thats far more rude than saying ''no im not gonna help u'' anyway lol
I keep forgetting you can actually just walk out, mostly because whenever I've done it it has been a mistake or some annoying ass NPC bug. Multiple times during a conversation they've just gotten bored and walked out, ending the conversation.
Like 90% of those times it was main quest related too, once even Father just got tired of me, making me initiate a long conversation again. I feel like the game was trying to tell me not to bother with the MQ.
Why bother with dialogue? Walking away or shooting people in the face, the magnum opus of Bethesda's writing
And people defending this is why they will never ever fix it. Good news, Emil! You will keep your job forever.
Well it's an optional side part of an open world game. Why bother saying no when just leaving is easier and faster? I do agree that there should be a fuck off option, but it's not really a huge deal.

i'm not a fan of the walking out mechanic. i feel like it's a lazy way to avoid having to think about dismissive - negative - hostile lines. Besides it's prone for terrible (sometimes hilarious but still terrible) bugs and i don't like relying on them. What's the harm of putting a "Nah, i don't think i want to help at all" or how Hat Wearing Man reminded, ask money upfront or being a prick for the sake of being a prick? They don't even react accordingly to you walking away anyway. It feels unpolished and unsatisfactory, at least for me. I can understand why they did it this way but i don't agree with it.
I remember there was a sub-quest in Fallout 3 where you could barter with a ghoul by giving him scrap metal in exchange for various supplies, or just strongarm him and take all the supplies for yourself.

you do have the choice not to do it, even if it's in your quest log. If you wait a while the quest will just fail itself.

There was a guy in Megaton you could give scrap metal for caps
Anyone here still play Fallout 3?
If so,
THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE DAWG

My biggest problem with the walk away "mechanic" is that if you then accidentally get too close to them later, you're forced into that awful no-crosshair slow-moving-camera dialogue mode as they once again ask for help, regardless of you trying to say no earlier in the only way possible. I play with the cinematic dialogue camera off, so it might be different for me, but I fucking hate how having a conversation works in this game because of that shit.
Are their any mods that break weapons down into their parts instead of just a heap of wood and steel?
Eyes not squinty enough, 2/10
After doing Nick's quest about Earl Sterling [sp]I killed the plastic surgeon and now the new one is broken, I can pay him for surgery but it won't let me sit in the chair. Annoying bug.[/sp] So I had to edit my character with the showlooksmenu command which is really buggy and some options, like most eyes, don't work properly

Or if you mean the "mod parts" then just craft mod X to replace mod Y.
Aka craft no barrel to get barrel mod.
Double-action blows, SA is the way to go.
Pfft, first you claim "pretty sure there is a double-action" now you say they blow anyway. Brother, please.

Scrapper rank 2, although it still isn't going to give you, say Nuclear Materials for scrapping a whole bunch of looted Pipe weapons that have Glow Sights (req. Nuclear Materials) on them. But it's going to give, especially from Laser weapons and such.
I've picked up a fun little hobby with the full Robot hacking perk, I collect robots.
[t]http://i.imgur.com/H1DKwwR.jpg[/t][t]http://i.imgur.com/IfeA75S.jpg[/t]
I've also figured out how to fast travel with robots too, if you command them and tell them to stay and then fast travel they'll fast travel with you, made it a lot easier to obtain that firestation protectron, I remember my first attempt lugging around that fucking builder protectron for fucking ages to get back to my settlement, it was a massive pain in the ass.
All fallout games are beautiful in their own way. Except the one I like is better then the one you like.

The Model 29 is double-action, but single-action is the way to use any handgun if you're shooting for precision. On a double-action handgun, cocking the hammer manually (thereby putting it in single-action mode) lightens the trigger pull significantly.
I wish they made the blueprints system something more difficult. Like, you would have to find mod recipes etc.

I thought unique mods would be in there, since they're such a good idea. I thought it'd be a no-brainer.
:vs:
Ok so I found the dudes at Institute that give you repeating quests. They give lots of XP per dude, like 480 something. Problem is, the Institute is a fucking maze, and finding the guys is tedious as all fuckery. If only you could put a marker at these guys on your Pip-Boy or something.
Need that XP.
Oh my fucking god why is tempines bluff the only fucking settlement that gets attacked
XP cheat, make vegetable starch and gain unlimited levels.
Speaking of Nick's quests, the Winter tapes quest is sort of stupid. [sp]It's like the kid in a fridge quest except apparently Eddie hasn't left the same medium sized room for 200 years and considers it a life of luxury. I would have preferred it if this caused him to go insane and you find him as a feral ghoul, then Nick learns that revenge isn't always sweet and you can influence how he deals with that.[/sp]
I'm still playing through Fallout 4, but I'm really tempted to give New Vegas another run to scratch that role playing itch.
My younger brother just made a second character and is starting to realize some of the weaknesses of Fallout 4. Namely the lack of character identity. Every vault dweller in Fallout 4 does the same thing more or less and it really sucks.

So Lorenzo's artifact with the electric charge antenna mod thingy seems to wreck protectrons.
