[sp]Why does virgil want to cure his mutation? He says the institute won't take him back, he spends most of his time in isolation anyway so it's not like he has to worry about people shooting at him. He lives in the glowing sea, an area where radiation immunity would be immeasurably beneficial. Unless there's a line about him eventually losing his intellect that I missed somewhere, it doesn't make sense to me. Maybe he shares the institute's obsession with "pure" humanity or whatever.[/sp]
[sp]Fear of becoming same level in intellect as most super mutants are and drawing with tubby fingers I guess, I mean you can steal the drawing back and look at it, it is amazing.[/sp]

Isn't Harold a special kind of ghoul?
Also, Van Buren ghouls aren't that far from the Fallout 4 ones:

[sp]He goes on and on about how he thinks of himself as an abomination and ugly as sin, so I'm learning towards the pure humanity side of things.
I mean apparently his was a more purified version of the Boston strain of FEV virus, so it wasn't going to effect his cognitive skills or his intelligence, nor did he ever mention that being a problem, because if not for you he would have been stuck in his Super Mutant form, he obviously wouldn't have done such a thing if it would have eventually started to effect his mind in anyway and we know that's not really how the FEV virus works, it's either straight up stupid or you maintain your inteligence, he just hated what he had to become to avoid the Institute and wanted to go back to being human.
Plus, who know's he did say the cure gave him some added benefits that stuck around, that he'd have to study, perhaps he's got a better inbuilt resistance to radiation now, as an addition to his increased muscle mass and presumably strength?[/sp]
Everytime I go to the glowing sea I'm disappointed that it's only 6 rads/s. Why? Take 1 rad-x and you're good to go, that makes no sense. Somehow these very slight rads were enough to keep people at bay from entering save for a few raiders.

I think people are more afraid of what's inside the Glowing Sea, the radiation is just another deterrent.
Other than that though, I get this feeling as though Bethesda probably made the Glowing Sea less radioactive from the players perspective for gameplay purposes, from what people say of it, it should fuck you up good and proper but nope it's really easy to get around in the supposed Radioactive hellhole without ever having to worry about your rads, but hey, mods will tinker with that and make it the proper hellhole it's supposed to be.
This looks fantastic but I knew at the back of my mind there as something off here.
The helmet on top needs to be wider at the top, the colour is off and the mouth area needs to be pulled up and made narrower.

The outer lower corner of the eyes needs to be lower as well. I could not for the life of me figure out what was wrong with the mask until you posted those two together.
i come back to this thread every 10-15 pages and every time someone has been discussing whether or not boning ghouls will rot your dick off

Well from some of the examples in New Vegas and in Fallout 4 itself, it's never given anyone other than that one guy dick rot.
So fuck all the ghouls you want guys and gals! :smug: [sp]just not feral ghouls you sick bastards, that's probably what gave that guy dick rot in the first place[/sp]
considering beatrice can literally become a prostitute it's probably fine
why am i talking about this
In the games, specifically 3, 4, and nv, I always got the impression that radiation was more of a danger to other people than it was to the player because they have no good way of knowing how much they were exposed to. The player has the pip-boy that not only has a gieger counter built in but shows how much accumulated radiation you've been exposed to over long term, aside from the railroad in 4 and one of Three Dog's broadcasts in 3 I don't think I've ever heard any major references to gieger counters.
My point is, while 6 rads/sec might seem like a nuisance at best to the player, the average joe wastelander probably doesn't know much about the glowing sea besides "wow that place is totally radioactive!".

[sp]In his terminal he keeps noting how his intellect is diminishing. The last log says something like "trying to write makes me too angry" but its all messed up of course because of his sausage fingers[/sp]

Eh, it'll be locked in now. The second texturing and normals are done, making scale alterations is a very sloppy and/or impossible correction, people should have said something earlier :pudge:

I don't think it was that hard to get a geiger counter.
Even morons like mr. RADical could somehow buy one.
the concept of radiation is frightening to the average wasteland joe by itself, though, and they would rather avoid it.
not to mention that your snowflake player character can walk around with an armor made of radaways but most people around can't buy more than one

When you listen to the history of the Boomers you can point out that they must have used gieger counters to make their way from Vault 34 to the airfield safely. Which makes sense since they all have pipboys.
After a lot of dicking about I finally got to the point where the BoS show up in their fancy vertibirds.
I now know what all of you were talking about, it's like they're made out of fucking paper. A light breeze sent one crashing into the ocean earlier.
When I got to the place where the bomb hit, I was genuinely confused on why the radiation was so low. I expected that to be a place where you get 400+ rads per second, and since the map (at least for me) was misaligned with the actual real world, I thought I missed the crater. I'm really disappointed on how "dangerous" the glowing sea is, even on survival difficulty. I expected it to have a much more nightmare-ish feel and be much more dangerous. And bigger, for that matter. It feels small.
It only took me around 5 minutes to cross the entirety of it, and there was only one deathclaw, the one that's scripted to sleep on that broken car.
Speaking of ghouls, the loading screen description throws me off
They say ghouls are often mistaken for zombies. Does that mean zombies are also in the fallout world?

As in, "Ghouls might look like zombies from popular pre-war horror movies, but they're in fact not!"
Also, re-implementation of intelligent deathclaws when? That was one of the most cool things in fallout 2, I would love to see it in fallout 4 as a mod or DLC.
[sp] I know only two survived canonically, but still. [/sp] Intelligent deathclaws are awesome, and i'd love to see them return in some way.
it bothered me how there were normal ass humans just living in the crater at ground zero
how are they not dead or ghoulified?
the power of atom

I always thought the Children of Atom were dumb, and I was really excited to find out what was in the center of the Glowing Sea...
And then it was just those fucks.

Silly, that'd require Bethesda acknowledging something they did not write.
Two helpful tips I've discovered for the beginning of the game, for those who haven't discovered them.
There's a root cellar behind one of the northern-most houses in santurary that contains a bunch of food and a few gold bars, worth about 400 caps a pop, and there's a guaranteed snubnosed .44 magnum spawn on a skeleton a short ways southeast of sanctuary, on top of a wooded hill with molerats on it.

True. All I can hope for are mods that may potentially come into existence with it.
the jetpack is pretty cool once you get the hang of it

i've also managed to finish the trinity tower quest without even entering the tower
