Except that blank character gets thrown out the window the moment you play Lonesome Road.
All it adds is "also you delivered crap in the past too, and you frequently passed through this place that loads of wanderers in the NCR would pass by as well and eventually a town happened, but then you blew it up by mistake woops"
I'm still upset that the game v-blanks and crashes whenever I try to run it fullscreen. In borderless window CPU and GPU usage are far below optimum, around 40-60% from my testing. I'm making all these concessions to run the game at a steady 60 and yet if I could only run it in fullscreen, I bet I'd have to sacrifice a lot less. [editline]t[/editline] Running as admin doesn't fix it, running at a different res doesn't fix it, forcing fullscreen via inspector doesn't fix it, updating drivers doesn't fix it, nothing I've tried fixes it.
I found a bug that doesn't allow the minor diamond city/ story spoiler [sp] Brother fight over synth in diamond city [/sp] where it starts everytime I walk into the city. I now have 40 pipe pistols.
http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4270/? Oh my, what a cool idea.
But the point is that your memory - the you that once was, and did those things - left with the bullet. This is something that sometimes actually happens to severe head trauma victims, even if they fully recover. They basically become a new person, forming a completely new personality with no sign the old one ever existed. This new personality in the courier's case... Is you.
Still haven't gotten through their questline yet, so maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't feel like they're just going "THINKING MACHINES BAD, GENOCIDE GOOD" to me. The Brotherhood has two ways of dealing with dangerous technology; if they can control it and use it for their own gain, like with power armor or Liberty Prime, they'll hoard it all, protecting it from the wasteland and the wasteland from it. But if they can't control it, the only option left to them is to remove it for the good of humanity. The Brotherhood sees themselves as protecting humanity from itself, so they have an inherent cynical view that anything sapient cannot be trusted. Synths, as dangerous, sapient machines quite capable of wiping out humans if they wanted too, are technology that the Brotherhood cannot be certain of their control over, and thus must be eliminated, whether they're under the control of the Institute or not. Doesn't make their actions any more moral, but they are acting as the Brotherhood should.
Erm no, have you heard half the things they say? They call Synths and any sort of machine that show's any amount of sentience as abominations not fit to live, they don't give a shit about control, they want total destruction, they straight up say they think genocide is great all the time. So yes, you are wrong, and it only get's worse with that cock pot Elder Maxson.
It's worth mentioning that lonesome road is optional content, also. You are never FORCED to confront the courier's past, you opt into that yourself.
its also possible yoolesees was confusing you for some other dude as well, been a long time since I've done LR but can't you say like "hey that wasnt me"
Are we even sure that it was the Courier who did the deed in Lonesome Road? It's all coming from one guy who may or may not be lying/insane.
GOOD. That's what I want. Characters with preference.
*Flirt* "Father disliked that"
Why can't you scrap codsworth? TBH if this game was at all like Fallout 1/2 where you kill kids, dig graves etc you would be able to shove that fucker on top of the workbench and dismember him for the parts that lay within. Evil perk be damned.
Pretty sure a mod will come eventually for that kind of stuff. I can already imagine his reaction. "Mr. Boobies, what are you doing to me?"
what happened to your quote
what happened to your quote
the dude's name is a filtered phrase, I guess
Guys, I found... Codsworld [IMG_thumb]http://36.media.tumblr.com/865a32360f4d9a2f55acabda400f5e33/tumblr_nytokwmuJ01raj203o1_1280.jpg[/IMG_thumb]
I went there yesterday just after finishing the game; looking for things to do and find I walked in and was greeted, asked to find the director of the place, then I walked into a room and was challanged to a fight; I accepted thinking it would be something like the bar fight on the quest where you build [sp] travis' courage[/sp] I accidently pressed alt and threw a grenade, immediately killing the opponent robot then instantly 5 robots chased me and piper out of codsworld I really wanted to visit again but im afraid they'll kill me ;_; I was in tears laughing though, theres like loads of codsworths roaming around, in the middle of a conversation with one of them you can see like 3 others flying around just shouting shit at things. its hilarious

[sp]And on that literal Bombshell...[/sp]
"has the character creation in fallout 4 gone to far?!"
I'm running into a bug in Fallout 2 where I can't enter the NCR because my "weapons are out" when I have nothing equipped. Do I have to disarm my companion (Lenny) or get him to stay?
Is it really optional though, as far as the story is concerned? I seriously doubt that Obsidian considers Lonesome Road as some meaningless optional part of the story that only exists when you play it, it's canon, which means it happened.
have they ever gone on record to say which ending is canon, though
You should try that yeah, or try the Unofficial Fallout 2 Patch to see if that fixes things.
It looks like I had to have Lenny put his gun away. I gues I'm still not used to the control you have over your companions yet.
Anyone interested in starting a conversation/group to think about and start sketching out plans for a small/medium DLC-sized mod for when the GECK comes out? I'm going to start some sort of team to work on something and I'd like to start with FPers if anyone's interested. It seemed to work pretty well when we did it after Skyrim came out.

But you can repeatedly insist it wasn't you who did any of that, and Ulysses can't prove it WAS you more than circumstantial evidence and repeatedly insisting "But I saw it though!"
Here's an errant signal video that reflects my feelings about the game's roleplaying aspects rather well.
That literally happens after the ending of the game, what we're talking about is something that happens during the course of the game, if Obsidian didn't consider it a relevant part of the story why did they bother making it? If they didn't want to give the Courier a past they wouldn't have bothered making a DLC that revolves entirely around that subject.
The thing then there are loads of things that happen throughout the game where its up for debate which is the true canon ending - did the courier nuke the ncr or caeser's legion, or neither? The point is that with roleplaying you're allowed a little bit of leeway - and being able to avoid a quest althogether that goes against your own individual canon is pretty good for that theres a distinct difference between the 'canon' courier who goes through and does whatever quests and endings and what your own courier does
(Since apperantly in Fallout 4 it has been confirmed the NCR won the Second Battle of Hoover Dam)
you gotta source on this??
best place to start would probably be looking for stuff just outside the playable area in irl boston that'd make interesting playspace
Ah I should have been a little more specific, I meant begin forming a group of people who would like to be involved in a project like that
Except that blank character gets thrown out the window the moment you play Lonesome Road.
A little bit, but to an acceptable degree imo. At some point in the past you completed a few delivery jobs to a town in the divide, eventually [sp]unwittingly causing the towns destruction after a parcel you delivered contained the detonator for the buried nuke arsenal the area was built on[/sp]. That's not a back story, that's an event that happened to your character at some point in his/her past. You still decide your character's age, political opinion, general intelligence, whether he/she had any other profession, their interests, place of origin, sexuality, life goals, morality, opinions on war, opinions on gender, opinions on science and medicine etc etc. the courier is a blank slate that you are given ample opportunity to flesh out, or keep ambiguous through dialogue throughout the game. Sure it forces you to have done something in the past, but it doesn't rule out any of your character's personality or back-story, it just forces you to add a single event to it. The sole survivor is incredibly limited in comparison. You are definitely older than 25, you are attracted to members of the opposite sex- and at some point definitely wanted to settle down, have children and live a quiet family life. as a man you cannot be completely anti-war because you were a soldier- and unwilling conscription seems unlikely because whenever you get the option to mention it, you mention it only with pride- this rules out being a non-athletic egg-head. As a woman you are definitely intelligent and charismatic enough to pursue a career as a lawyer- this rules out being a 1 INT brawler who loves violence. Both character's seem disinterested or uninformed about matters of science and medicine regardless of intelligence stat. That's a whole bunch of detail that get's in the way of building your own character, something lonesome road doesn't really do
Well my source is Jonu67 on a steam chat, so we should all be waiting for his explanation in that regard. EXPLAIN YOURSELF DAMNED SALESMAN
Why'd you bring me into this, I only heard it from the Fallout 4 reddit that apparently some of the merchants in bunker hill or the brahmin merchants it wasn't too clear, will sometimes say stuff about the battle of hoover dam and the fact that the NCR won.
Ah I should have been a little more specific, I meant begin forming a group of people who would like to be involved in a project like that
I'm going to make a lore friendly mod that takes place in the Buffalo region near canada. I wouldn't mind a group to throw ideas around. Add me :)
best place to start would probably be looking for stuff just outside the playable area in irl boston that'd make interesting playspace
Nah, more Glowing Sea. Do it.
The fact VATS no longer freezes time makes it a pain to use with a mouse. Enemies that move around a lot constantly overlap parts you want to select with parts you don't, and deselecting/reselecting because you made a mistake wastes time and gets incredibly frustrating. Can't wait for a custom VATS timescale mod.
