The voiced protagonist only has little to do with the lack of roleplaying. Bethesda had a definite character in mind when they wrote the plot for Fallout 4. If the protagonist was voiced in New Vegas, I don't think it would have impacted roleplaying much at all, provided the performance was good.
It had to have a direct impact on what they could put in for budget reasons. Can you imagine how much it would cost to voice EVERY player line in New Vegas? In a perfect world where they had infinite money to make the game, I'd love to see it happen, but sadly this is not a perfect world.

This quora post states a union actor will work for about $800 a day. Say we get two union actors, one male, one female, who aren't Morgan Freeman but are decent enough, and we give them 80 days to finish. That's about 128K. Not a small amount, but a drop in the bucket compared to $90M. It could be done for even less, though. The guy who voiced and mo-capped Niko from GTA 4 made $100,000 from it. Sure, he complained about it, but $100,000 isn't that much considering just how many things Niko says.

Those things are long and he have a lot of options

I buffed the reds, made the blues more teal, and dirtied the whites. There's two minor problems I can spot, but the effort-to-visual ratio is too low for me to touch it again. Will be available by noon
playing South Park - Stick of Truth, I noticed some similarities to fallout in the choices that you can make
Actually that's totally wrong. You should be able to either sarcastically remove your pants, or remove your pants like an asshole.
it's missing a "sarcastically remove pants" edit dang 2 slow

Considering the considerably lower budget and development time New Vegas had, it still managed to have a huge amount of lines.

I think the best way to do a skill check when you are under the required number is to give you a chance to succeed equal to your skill in it. For example, if you have 74 speech and need 75 to pass, then you have a 74% chance of making it. If you have 48 speech and need 75, then you have a 48% chance to pass. If you have 75 or above, you automatically pass. This way, every point you put in helps you in the check, but you don't have to ignore other skills just to pass a check.
Hey I have a pretty vital crashing problem: I crash every time anything involves facial changing. So either the sequence right from creating a new character, as well as doing facial reconstruction surgery- both of those is an instant CTD. I've disabled all mods related to changing anything about characters or their textures, and still nothing fixes. So, when will someone make this as a 44. revolver modification?
so 90% of the perks are literally just the same thing as disbursing skill points
There were 13 skills in Fallout 3. There are now 13 perks replacing those skills in Fallout 4, out of the 70 perks available. Speech was integrated into Charisma and Repair was technically removed but the four perks that are entirely focused on crafting are clearly born from the now gone Repair skill. So technically if you want to include these as perks there's 18 total perks that replace the former 13 skills of Fallout 3.
If you Join the Brotherhood after [sp]the rest of the forces arrive, you get promoted right to knight, don't even become an initiate. You also have an option to ask when you get to go up to the ship[/sp]
The glowing sea is such a cool place.
The glowing sea is such a cool place.
Wish there was a tiny bit more of it to be honest, I enjoyed my time with it but damn it's such an interesting area, I can't help but want more.

Which is why I think it's better as a skill system than the other games BUT, in an RPG choices aspect of it, the skills are underutilized for checks in the game to pass requirements of quests or dialogue. It's sorta like one step forward, one step back in that regard. Imagine if armorer helped get power armor or better armor for the minute men during a final battle? Or just better armor throughout the wastes? Imagine if they actually used the perks for those kinds of game changing checks. It'd be amazing and it'll feel like it isn't just for combat.
Wish there was a tiny bit more of it to be honest, I enjoyed my time with it but damn it's such an interesting area, I can't help but want more.
More radscorpions?
More radscorpions?
Fuck radscorps. They just teleport when you snipe them. And I feel bad that the glowing sea is so small and sparse. That shit should basically be like the Mad Max border of the world type shit, where you could just keep exploring to get random encounters.
Wish there was a tiny bit more of it to be honest, I enjoyed my time with it but damn it's such an interesting area, I can't help but want more.
Maybe we'll get to go out there for one of the DLCs, even just as a hook/entry point for it. There was so much unmarked shit out there with a lot of detail that it seems possible.
More radscorpions?
Not much of a problem when you've got a fully upgraded explosive minigun :v: Either way, I didn't go to the Glowing Sea for the fights, I went because that place oozed atmosphere, I just wanted more to do there is all, more little stories littered about. What I got was nice but damn I'm left wanting more.
Fuck the whole dodging thing assaultrons and mr. gutsies do when you try to snipe them. How the fuck do you dodge a bullet thats going atleast 800mph?

Bypassing parts of some quests in which you would have had to fight by using a perk/skill designed to facilitate fighting, never made that much sense to me. It's best used to actually change the way a quest operates and not just to bypass/"fix" some elements. Speaking of skill checks, there's one that always bothered me from a story standpoint in new vegas - when you go check on Caesar and find out about his brain acting up, if your medicine skill is high enough. It's cool that it happens, but Caesar's first reaction is to make you his personal doctor, seemingly the only one he has around that was even competent enough to notice his very obvious issues. So why does he let you go ? Why would Caesar, a guy trying to win a really difficult struggle against the NCR, who never moves out of his tent and who is constantly surrounded by bodyguards, send you, his only doctor, out in the wasteland for literally anything ? From this point in the story, Caesar would have no reason to ever send you out anywhere and would practically forbid you from leaving the fort in any situation, because you've become a more valuable asset to him by just being there and making sure he doesn't get or have any more medical issues than you would ever be outside. You're far from the only guy in the wasteland who has the competence to shoot a few people and carry the platinum chip, so he could very easily delegate that to pretty much anyone else.
I was sarcastic to one of the traders in Diamond city and it was around 2 in-game days before she let me explain to her that I wasn't a Synth and I could start trading with her :v Is that something that happens all the time or soley based on choosing a negative/sarcastic option or not?
Either way, I didn't go to the Glowing Sea for the fights, I went because that place oozed atmosphere, I just wanted more to do there is all, more little stories littered about.
Funny you said that, I went there for the atmosphere too. Found teleporting radscorps though, in large numbers, had no explosive minigun, and went there in an hazmat.
Fallout 4 is the first RPG where I feel my dialogue choices truly do not matter. In my current playthrough, I'm just an asshole at every possible dialogue moment and it changes absolutely nothing
Being a cunt in fallout 3 or New Vegas didn't exactly change much either, people would briefly frown at you and that'd be the end of it. The asshole options that used to start a fight are still around except you now have the ability to pull a gun and shoot people in the face in the middle of conversation so having conversation options that are designed around starting fights would be redundant. Being a pessimistic cunt has about as much effect on the story and main quests as it had in fallout 3 and new vegas, which is to say none. The only thing that's missing is actions that were designed to pull your Karma down, and since Karma is no longer in the game it would have been weird as fuck to still have these around. There are still weird moments in dialogue that lead to weird situations, so it's not like that aspect of the game is missing. [editline]6th December 2015[/editline]
I was sarcastic to one of the traders in Diamond city and it was around 2 in-game days before she let me explain to her that I wasn't a Synth and I could start trading with her :v Is that something that happens all the time or soley based on choosing a negative/sarcastic option or not?
If you specifically choose a negative or sarcastic option, she locks you out of trading with her and you need to pass a speech check or wait for a while to let her trade with you again, similar to that one bitch in Novac back in New Vegas. I think someone in Rivet City also did that.
