they explained it in the terminals [sp] basically before they decided to use shawn as the basis for the synth's dna, they were trying to use the FEV to create they synthetic biology they needed. after that failed, they moved on to testing the effects of the FEV on humans, and isolated the multiple strains of the FEV, one of which they recognized improved cognative functions as well as making one into a supermutant, this is the one virgil got exposed to and he fled[/sp]
[sp] Kinda shows how much of a shithead Shaun is though that he continued the project until Virgil went rogue [/sp]
[sp] Kinda shows how much of a shithead Shaun is though that he continued the project until Virgil went rogue [/sp]
eh they were trying to cure it, thats not exactly a shitheaded idea
eh they were trying to cure it, thats not exactly a shitheaded idea
[sp] Kidnapping people against their will forcing them to be injected with FEV and then terminating them if they manage to survive but show aggressive signs is pretty shitheaded [/sp]
I don't think the super mutant origin story is a spoiler, I think? its in a loading screen tip even. I don't think ANY origin story can really explain just how many super mutants there are period. The fuckers get minced in such huge numbers Strong and even random mutants have a dislike for power armor.
I still don't get why Bethesda insists on using super mutants as the core baddies around their world. The only reason i can think of is to avoid creating new stuff to the lore and upsetting older players but every time they do that is even worse (aka rehashing the enclave as villains). and some of the new creatures from them are quite interesting - just let the super mutant 'menace' rest. fallout 4 had a great hook for a different threat, even, but nope still green big bad guys everywhere
[sp] Kidnapping people against their will forcing them to be injected with FEV and then terminating them if they manage to survive but show aggressive signs is pretty shitheaded [/sp]
well nobody really expects the institute to do anything noble in an ethical way, they're almost worse than the MT, because at least there they were just all senile and the facility was mainly run by automation left on from the pre-war age with the experiments slowly leaking out into the wasteland, the institute knows full well that kidnapping, and experimenting on people, while replacing them with disposable copies is totally horrible, yet they proclaim themselves to be the bastion of humanity and they should be allowed to take whatever they want from everyone to someday rebuild humanity, meanwhile humanity is rebuilding without them at least we didn't have to deal with the nightkin in fallout 4, be thankful because the stealthboys are sort of broken OP again
at least we didn't have to deal with the nightkin in fallout 4
why? i liked the nightkins and their concept, and how even the "bad" ones are as much of victims as the ones they're causing harm and how even then they still can be reasoned with some effort in understanding their issues instead of just being more shooting material (tabitha, davison, keene from jacobstown)
why? i liked the nightkins and their concept, and how even the "bad" ones are as much of victims than the ones they're causing harm and how even then they still can be reasoned with some effort in understanding their issues instead of just being more shooting material (tabitha, davison, that nightkin from jacobstown that i forgot the name - no it's not lily, the one who tries to steal the research)
eh they were just more annoying than anything else, but they were a unique race
He killed me like twice and then I went "wait fuck lol I have a missle launcher"
[sp]If you give Mama Murphy chems, she can give you that Courser's deactivation code in one of her "sights"[/sp]
[sp]If you give Mama Murphy chems, she can give you that Courser's deactivation code in one of her "sights"[/sp]
I avoid sanctuary, that would force me to initiate the "we're fucking useless so build us beds and food and shit like that" quest. Which is unfortunate since I [sp]killed that Codman or w/e and got like 50 of each drug from a drug deal I interrupted.[/sp]
I really don't understand why the Wasteland is still completely devoid of green plant life. Like what the fuck it's been 200 years. I can understand [sp]The Glowing Sea[/sp] but even Chernobyl and Fukushima have plant life growing. I mean ffs look at Chernobyl
Almost a month later, I'm officially bored of it all. Looking forward till next year since I'll have a fresh new shining computer by then which should certainly graphically enhance the experience I believe! Also, since I'm fucking lazy to look it up, is there any date mentioned by the devs when Fallout 4 is getting workshop? :smug:
sableye what is your aversion to spoiler tags

No matter how much sense it doesn't make, I choose to believe that, in the fallout universe, they discovered a new kind of radiation.

They were perfectly aware that realistically the world would be covered in plant life by now but that's not the art style/atmosphere they wanted so they disregarded realism, which is more or less how most of Fallout's world is built to begin with anyway. If you really want a canon explanation just roll with acid rains. [editline]8th December 2015[/editline]
Almost a month later, I'm officially bored of it all. The Creation Kit should be added by January 2016 I believe.
Still, it would be nice to have to occasional protected alcove be full of vegetation. I mean, look at ground zero in nagasaki:
As others have suggested, it seems like this game got rushed. I can't wait until we get the GECK and we can find out just how much stuff was trimmed. I'm betting at least the Combat Zone was going to be an actual arena, but like the arena in Skyrim it got cut for time. There was probably more planned for the final act of the game after reaching [sp]the Institute[/sp] because the first half of the game is so much slower paced and thought out, while the last half just rushes you along as fast as possible. All in all, it is pretty obvious this game was intended for a 2016 release but they threw their hands up and said "fuck it" and because of that we have a ton of wasted potential. Shit, I honestly think the hoax back in 2014 was probably done by Bethesda but they chose to move up the release date.
who was it ages ago talking about aiming a gun cowboy style by the way?
Is that fucking Clint Eastwood?
So, be warned: I am not an artist, and this is my first (real) attempt at a texture mod. [t]http://puu.sh/lNz8W/836df238b2.jpg[/t] [t]http://puu.sh/lNz9Y/f7546409a9.jpg[/t] All set for a game of Caravan
Also doesn't chernobyl look like that mostly because the bacteria normally responsible for plant decay was killed off by the intense radiation? I remember something about trees that are years and years past dead that still have leaves because nothing's there to rot them away. They've been radio-sterilized.
Pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere that the Chinese launched nukes that were designed to spread radiation and have it stick around rather than just level the land too. [Glowing Sea spoilers] [sp]Looks like the one in F4 is the first real deviation from that, in that it did competely waste everything for a few miles.[/sp]
[sp]Looks like the one in F4 is the first real deviation from that, in that it did competely waste everything for a few miles.[/sp]
[sp]It was the only bomb that went off at ground level. The others were either atmospheric detonations (which is how our two atom bombs worked) or duds that hit but never blew up.[/sp]

Any RefIDs I could try moving to player to put this trainwreck back on the rails?

[sp]Talk to him[/sp]
HOLY SHIT Okay, I have undeniable proof that the Combat Zone was going to be a functioning arena. I extracted Tommy's voice clips and lo-and-behold the motherfucker talks about prize money and moving through the ranks, putting on a show, and a lift into the cage accessible through the basement. Here they are on dropbox if you want a listen: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sks0niopcf8q6xm/NPCMTommyLonegan.rar?dl=0 I tried to get rid of the voice clips already in the game so it is mostly the cut stuff. I'm going to go digging through the East City Downs files next, and then got through a couple other interesting folders.

I am expecting a series of "Fallout 4: Uncut" mods to be the first GECK mods that will be made. The cut BOS ending is just to good to be cut.
