Gg Bethesda.
I just realized that Plasma weapons can be flamethrowers.
I'm effectively using this and I'm usually on Rifleman damage.
Holy shit thank you for making me aware of this. Had no idea the damage was that good, figured it was a flamer clone.
I'm using that named legendary one from the institute (with the increased fire rate) as a flame-pistol with level 4 gunslinger, and jesus christ it kills super mutants so fast they shoot into the ceiling or twenty feet into the air.

I hate that equipping certain headgear makes your character bald. It looks particularly bad with the Green Hood. Why couldn't they replace your hair with a messy tucked-into-hood hairstyle model when you equip it.

I eagerly await some sort of overpowered as fuck melee so I can ditch this 140 damage sledgehammer that isn't getting any better.

if only the game had a decent sword
What is that gas mask? I've never found one, I think, only the "Assault Gas Mask" that looks like a supervillain mask and the normal civilian "Gas Mask with Goggles"
it's just called "gas mask"
So my game refuses to launch Fallout 4 with mods now and re-enabling them using NMM causes the game to go in a loop. Any way to get around this? Sorry if this has been answered already.
So automatic weapons are objectively awful and pointless compared to semis, evidently. Speaking as someone who loves the aesthetic and feel of the automatic AR and has been trying to use one for most of the game.
Basically the way the DR system works as-is, if you fire 50 10 damage rounds or 1 500 damage round, the 500 damage round is going to do a LOT more of its intended damage. I was actually really terrified something like this was going to happen with the weapon customization system being like it is, and as it happens I was a little right. Great.

It's kind of sad how melee characters in FO4 rely very heavily on legendaries late-game, unless they dump all points and perks into absolutely maximizing melee damage.

Melee is OP, my super sledge does nearly 300 damage, then all I have to do is get a 10x sneak attack and maybe a crit for good luck, can 1 hit kill behemoths and mirelurk queens

Also, showing off my under construction bachelor pad/workshop in the sky. I plan on using the lower garage as a hangout for companions.

It's definitely random but I just bought one from Carla.

Eh, I find them really good as a stealth character or a character where ranged weapons are secondary. Higher DPS for use on annoying mooks, and you get access to both rifles and pistols. For stealth purposes, it's nice to be able to make use of both pistols and rifles, you can effectively get sidearms and (light) sniper weapons in the same bundle.
Most enemies don't have that much armor and a fully automatic burst from with stealth criticals will shred even the most heavily armored enemies. Some guns like the plasma rifle do so much damage to start with that even in the automatic form they can easily bust through armor and just have an absolutely devastating dps.

why would you not do this? melee damage is insane and melee attacks can pretty easily stunlock most enemies
STALKER is the only other game I know of where you can die in the loading screen

How viable is a stealth melee build? I want to build a spy-assassin-ish character that uses some kind of dagger or blade, but I'm concerned that it won't be effective.

you look like a fucking gremlin
Do the spread attachments for laser and plasma weapons calculate their damage like automatic weapons (where each bullet is as strong as the damage value) or like shotguns (where every bullet in the shot adds up to the damage value)?
If it's the latter that really sucks and why would you ever want that without a legendary effect. If it's the former that's OP as shit.

you have to go hard in the stealth perks
like get literally every stealth perk as soon as possible and it goes from "stealth literally doesn't work at all what the fuck is this" to "lol i don't exist anymore" fast

Spread attachments just seem to boost base damage and then do a shotgun-style calculation.

Yep, the "silent running" stage of sneak is that event horizon where you go from being detected by absolutely everybody, to effortlessly whipping around stealth-snapping necks.
I'd say focus more on sniping from the shadows at the beginning of the game, and then once you get the "silent running" effect start going melee.
Also I am really disappointed the gatling laser doesn't get a mod that basically turns it into a buffed FO3/NV tesla cannon.
Charge up a single shot like with the gauss rifle, but you can't fire it until it's at 100% charge. Does an absolutely astronomical amount of damage (rivaling the fat man even without further upgrades) and penetrates enemies and walls, but consumes an entire fusion core with just that one shot.

Incredibly. Once you get the blitz perk, you still get that melee bonus damage if they haven't detected you yet. You can get melee stealth crits on enemies that are facing you but can't see you yet because you're not close enough with it.
That, and the ninja perk will increase your melee sneak damage pretty drastically. Once you do the [sp]Pickman Gallery[/sp] quest and get the reward, you're pretty much set.
Here is a video of the mysterious stranger doing a 360 no scope (found on reddit, not my video)

Edit: Nevermind, updating NMM still does not let me launch FO4 with mods...

And what would you even fight with that? At that point in the game, there would be no enemy worth using an entire fusion core on.
And what would you even fight with that? At that point in the game, there would be no enemy worth using an entire fusion core on.
Legendary radroaches.
And what would you even fight with that? At that point in the game, there would be no enemy worth using an entire fusion core on.
But by that point you're probably also rolling in cores so what's it matter?
It's an overkill cannon. The energy weapon equivalent of the fat man, inefficient but hugely powerful. Use it when you need something really strong to be really dead really fast.

Also, possible difficulty spike from a future DLC could make that proposition more appealing.
