Fallout V23: "I got another thread that needs your help."

oh wait there's a patch for it sweet
Maybe not Obsidian, since it sounds like many of the people who made New Vegas good aren't there anymore. But it'd be nice to have a spinoff from a team that can hire decent writers.
Pretty late but the ones who left were Avellone and John Gonzales (whose work as freelancers anyway and always stated that they wanted to be in another fallout game) and Obsidian added Tim fucking Cain to their ranks
Also since Wasteland 2 they're pretty close with InXile (and Brian Fargo) so please god yes a new game in F4 engine made by Obsidian and InXile please
anyone else find it hilarious that almost nobody in this thread can max the game?
like, by hilarious i mean depressing and annoying...
It's gotten way better with bethesda's update and nvidia's driver updates, my performance has nearly doubled. (well, maybe 1.5x fps)
Mind you I never had an issue playing max at 1080p, my goal has been to play at max-ish settings at 4K, and to that end things have gotten a lot better since the updates.
Are mods working again?

Oh yeah I guess they are.

I play the game maxed out with only ambient occlusion turned off (I hate that effect) and it runs fine everywhere except Corvega's rooftops
if i had said "who can max the game?" not even half as many people would have come out to tell me that they can
Once I got the optimized textures mod I get about 60 on high.
The game won't even run when I try to fullscreen it, so I have to run it borderless window, which means it only uses like 60% of my system's power tops, and I can't force it to fully utilize the GPU.
Is there a fix for fullscreen v-blank on nvidia cards yet? I get the feeling I could go from 40-50 to 60+ if I could run it fullscreen.

Just curious, why do you hate AO? I absolutely love it.
Ran this game maxed with no issues up until the mods started coming out, now I'm so clogged down with mods I hardly get a solid 60. And it's only been a few weeks.
Being inside any one of my settlements is the worst. Nearly all of them have 50 people inside it with shacks that are chock full of modded items. I can't fast travel to spectacle island without it crashing anymore, I need to swim all the way over.
I've been playing the game mostly maxxed out (with some tweaked ini settings and the optimized vanilla textures mod, I prefer consistent performance over some gfx honestly :v:) and after my recent upgrade I end up getting 200fps in small, indoor areas.
Now you might be thinking "Wow! Aren't you lucky, sounds like it must be buttery smooth". You wouldn't be wrong, but as it turns out this also speeds up time. So I end up scuttling around really quickly (which actually ends up being pretty awesome in some more empty areas and saves time) and the radio and holotape recordings cut themselves off by moving on to the next line too early. I've also blown through about 30 bobby pins in the last 10 or so locks I've had to pick due to attempting to pick the locks at light speed.
Edit: Forgot to mention but yeah, I know it's recommend I cap the FPS, but I've been too lazy to go find good program that'll do that and VSynch sucks :v:

I've heard reports of a settlement's watering hole being poisoned.
Ok where the fuck are the multiple companion mods.
Woody and Buzz Lightyear together in the Commonwealth would be glorious.
I've encountered a weird and frustrating problem that may or may not be a glitch, where I'll get a notification that a settlement is under attack, FT to it, and either nothing will be wrong or [sp]Synths will be attacking it[/sp]. The "under attack" status doesn't disappear, but nothing seems to be wrong. I can't figure out what to do (I've read that it's because one settler [sp]has been replaced by a synth[/sp] but the methods of figuring out which is the one don't seem to be working) and if I leave the area, I fail the quest. What the fuck do I do?
Reposting for help? Anyone?
Reposting for help? Anyone?
It's a glitch. If you don't score at least one hit on the [sp]synth settler[/sp] before they die, you can't win. You can try using the console to resurrect them and kill them again and that might fix it. Didn't for me. I had to just take the hit and lose a large chunk of my population.

maybe a synth died or something? i mean codsworth doesn't like it when you do that, so that might explain his reaction

I think I killed a turret and it counted as an enemy. She hated me shortly after that.
Well since trying to make Sanctuary into a cheap knock off of the institute caused me to crash if I got anywhere near Sanctuary, I decided to just make my house instutute themed.

"DANSE LOOK A SYNTH!"
If any of you nerds are interested they have a bunch of Vault 111 boy bobblehead's in stock.
idk maybe something's wrong with me but I've already lost interest in FO4 and I really didn't want to. I really need to find like a compelling side quest or something again to get me motivated to play more.
You know, some people are saying the voice acting from the protag would make it harder for modders to create new missions and stuff, but there's something Bethesda could do to make it a whole lot easier, and it's something they've already done elsewhere in the game.
Have the VAs for the male and female protagonists record a thousand or so generic response lines, ones most likely to occur in missions. "Tell me more about him/her/it/them/", "Who/what do you think is responsible?", "Things didn't go well, he/she/it/they probably isn't/aren't going to lend a hand.", etc. Put those in and let the modders record their own dialog to lead up to said response lines which they can include in their mod. Boom, you now have fully voiced dialog in mods.

[sp]YOU! ARE! A! SYNTH!!! YOU'RE NOT THE REAL PALADIN DANSE, YOU'RE A ROBOTIC CLONE! YOU ARE THE INSTITUTES PLAYTHING![/sp]
that is a lot of work for something that won't benefit them in really any way at all
They already did something very similar with Skyrim though. There are a ton of generic dialog lines meant for created NPC or companions, which again, doesn't benefit them at all.
If they got Codsworth's VA to record 966 unique names, this shouldn't be out of the question either. Bethesda has a history of accommodating their modding community, they're passionate about modding.
In a battle for The Science, who would win? The institute, or big mt?
