Fallout V23: "I got another thread that needs your help."

I'm still pretty pissed about how [sp]un-intuative getting the Minutemen involved in the fight against the Institute was, and the whole "perfect" ending in general.[/sp]
Oh well. Gives my settlements a chance to fight virtibirds.
So I've been to [sp]The Institute and found a terminal confirming McDonough is a synth,[/sp] but when I go to talk to him, he just shoos me away and says he's got important business to attend to. Does anything ever come of this, or is that just random terminal info? I mean, do they actually [sp]kill him in a week's time after you read that?[/sp]
im always three pages late but
Why aren't there any power-armored feral ghouls
like, is it unreasonable to think that a ghoul stepped into power armor that didn't have a helmet at some point and ended up feral?
The core would have run out a long time ago.
[editline]7th December 2015[/editline]
Only way to get it is to [sp]kill Maxson and loot his armor[/sp]
stick a glowing one into power armor then

End game spoilers:
[sp]It's a questline that opens up after you've done one of the faction endings except for the institute, if you do the institute ending you cant do the quest.[/sp]
on the topic of dlcs i hope they mimic fallout 3's dlc structure of four dlcs that send us off to new lands of varying linearity and one dlc that expands the end game and current content
each of the dlc could add more settlement content in the way of unique magazines too, would be a neat way of being able to bring back dlc specific objects

Pretty much exactly. They absolutely must go the route of Fallout 3 and stay as far away from Skyrim's model.
so all of these mods have been made without the creation kit out yet?
whoa, I can only imagine how good it'll soon get because already some of these mods are fantastic
I'm just hoping that we'd get more gun bases sooner or later via the Creation Kit as the current selection we have right now is rather limited and that the lack of an AK in this game bothers me a tad bit.

AK is good, I hope someone adds it but I'm interested to see what they are going to do for the M16 line of weapons
that gun is perfect for all the attachments and modifications with all it's rails already on, and F4 seems to be way more customizer friendly.

Beth is having too much fun with these things.
I love the weapon selection, but I just couldn't believe how much I missed seeing the AK/Commie gun. I mean, I get absolutely annoyed whenever any FPS is developed with the AK or whatever kind of clone in mind, but I really did feel a little bothered when it didn't appear in FO4. We've got the combat rifle and the assault rifles, which are nice, but I'd love to see more equipment used by the Soviets spread around the Commonwealth. On the topic of guns, it'd be great of That Gun made a return, or at least became available as a mod for the .44 revolver.
On a different note, I'm on my second playthrough (spent about 160 hours on my first character, took a nice break in between him and my second) and the little things are starting to become more noticeable. While exploring the Commonwealth, to the east of Tenpines Bluff, I could see a person kneeling in the distance. As I got closer, I noticed she was wearing raider garb, and was kneeling over a grave. I got close enough to aggro, fought and killed her, and noticed she was actually burying another raider. It's the little things like that which really bring the Fallout world to life.
I have 140 hours, and after grandma played her numbers the 600th time, I just got a song from Magnolia about trains for the first time ever. I heard the good-good neighbour one before, but Travis's speech about it was really distinguishable so I know I haven't heard it before. Why do these songs occur so rarely?
Woah, woah. Wynonie Harris is on the soundtrack?
What's a good place for a settlement that isn't Sanctuary or Starlight Drive In?
What's a good place for a settlement that isn't Sanctuary or Starlight Drive In?
I really like Greygarden, it's got Mr Handy gardeners who do all the farming and a farm already set up using planters.
And you can build on or under the highway next to it or both, it's my favorite settlement because of the preexisting unique residents and facilities and the fact it gives you a large flat area to build with.

I like Spectacle Island. East of The Castle. Be ready to deal with a shitload of mirelurks though.

What level would you recommend going there? Cause I'm on my second character and I'm only level 30.

A good Combat Rifle or Plasma Rifle will take care of Mirelurks quickly though.

what exactly was wrong with Skyrim's dlc? (never played it's add-ons so I don't know)
What level would you recommend going there? Cause I'm on my second character and I'm only level 30.
Depends on the difficulty you're playing on, so level 30 isn't bad at all.
Does Spectacle Island have a high build cap? I must know!
What's a good place for a settlement that isn't Sanctuary or Starlight Drive In?
spectacle island and the castle are my favorites
what exactly was wrong with Skyrim's dlc? (never played it's add-ons so I don't know)
Not as many as FO3 or FNV, and that's including the one that added a house-building mechanic and almost nothing else (though Hearthfire is still good regardless). Plus, Dawnguard only added a few very small new worldspaces rather than a single big one to explore, though they were very cool ones.

well I have a fully furnished 8 story building on spectacle island
what exactly was wrong with Skyrim's dlc? (never played it's add-ons so I don't know)
Only one of three of them is decent (Dragonborn). One is literally just you building a home for yourself, and Down's guard sucks dicks.

Player Character:"I am a new member of a vampire hunting clan, in a dungeon filled with vampires to kill them."
Serana:"I am a vampire in that dungeon."
Player Character:"Wanna be friends?"

she's essential lol

except it gave you crossbows, which are awesome

Serana's a decent character though. She's like Piper when you first meet her, a character that stands out as if from some other game entirely.
except it gave you crossbows, which are awesome
That's why I took it and went to do Dragonborn instead.
well I have a fully furnished 8 story building on spectacle island
This answers my question perfectly. I'm gonna build a shantytown on Spectacle Island and fill it with traps, turrets, and make it a living island fortress.
if you do need more settlement budget it's pretty trivial to increase it via console
What's a good place for a settlement that isn't Sanctuary or Starlight Drive In?
hangman's alley is great
anywhere could be great, you just got to use your imagination and be creative about building a settlement.
The perk that lets you fast travel while encumbered is also amazing, that way to don't need to set up supply lines when building, you just need to carry the junk into the workbench that you want to work on.
Well since trying to make Sanctuary into a cheap knock off of the institute caused me to crash if I got anywhere near Sanctuary, I decided to just make my house instutute themed.
