That would cost too much for Bethesda. Now, that dude and a gal who did the Courier, on the other hand, were more realistic option. They were pretty decent, and did a lot more lines too.

the gatling laser isn't worth bothering with anyway
The gatling laser is easily the most devastating weapon in the game when it's fully upgraded and has associated perks, even the fatman would have trouble keeping up with how quickly that thing can mow people down.
Suffice it to say if you have perks that allow you to use a Minigun effectively, the Gatling laser will eventually be like a 4x damage improvement over the minigun.
does anyone actually join the brotherhood because they agree with their morals or does everyone just do it for their power armor
I mean tbh you can get power armor a lot easier and for free if you go against the brotherhood
like you kill paladins and you literally just take all the pieces off them, if you join the brotherhood you have to pay for that stuff
A friend of mine only went with the BoS because he didn't want to betray [sp]Liberty Prime.[/sp]
He fucking hates the BoS, he thinks Bethesda has fucked them up, he REALLY hate's what they've become, but he doesn't want to be forced to destroy his favorite [sp]robot.[/sp]
So he bit the bullet and went with them despite disagreeing with them completely.

Might not agree with everything they do, but they're by far the coolest faction in the game, so I go with them.
Honestly the best choice morally has to be the Minutemen who could very well be the next NCR style faction but they are really boring, It's just such a shame joining and continuing the faction has to make you commit the sin of having to interact with the most bland person on the East Coast, Preston Gravy.
And the sin of giving you false control, at least with the other three factions you aren't made the super duper general right off the bat or at all, and instead you're being commanded by higher ups.

The Minutemen are a real letdown, they're a good idea done as blandly as possible. Rather than the whole "become the new general and bring them back from their ashes" thing, they've should've been a big, surviving but barely holding on faction that you joined and helped to gain a foothold in the Commonwealth. I think Beth wanted them to be an "independent" line like New Vegas, but that should've just been you doing your own thing, rather than leading a faction of goody two shoes.
I'm siding with the BoS this game due to the protagonist's military history. Seems reasonable he'd gravitate toward the largest most organized military if given the choice, because it's what he knows.
That and despite Maxson's incompetence, they're both interested in protecting the people and have the means with which to do so. Minutemen are too small, Institute is crazy misguided, Railroad is dumb and they have no idea what they want, but the brotherhood actually gets shit done, and in the name of as "good" a cause as you can really expect from them.

I agree, the idea is great, it's pulled off so poorly though, an Independent ending should have been an option but it shouldn't have been the Minutemen.
Like I hope somehow mods can turn the Minutemen into a faction that isn't just fucking radiant quests being given to you by the blandest and worst voice actor in the game.

It would be cool if you could start your own legit government faction like the NCR. Make up rules that people need to follow, standard armor for guards and soldiers, main cities. It could be so cool.

That's really what the Minutemen should have been, your character would lay the groundwork obviously but you eventually gain a real foothold enough to actually make a difference and actually create a faction worth a damn, but unfortunately they weren't.
Mores the pity.

I'm thinking the BoS is gonna be the canon ending. As you said, the protagonists have a connection with the armed forces so it makes sense they'd want to join up with the Brotherhood; there's a logical reason to join them regardless of whether the protag agrees with them in that they're the most capable faction for finding the Institute; and I get the feeling Bethesda wants to grow them as a faction the same way Black Isle did with NCR, as well as Arthur Maxson as a character.

Pretty much
In NV if you chose to work with the NCR, Caesar or House, they made pretty clear that you were just a pawn so being ordered around never felt wrong. And if you wanted to say "fuck it i'm taking this shit for me" you had the chance to decide the future of pretty much everyone around because y'know that's what happens when you're your own boss and stuff
In F4 we get to "lead" some of the factions - an interesting concept that never goes anywhere because some other guy from the faction is still ordering you around anyway, maybe you just pay bigger taxes or something. Being the boss suck.
just figured out why I've been having so much trouble with weight management lately
I was carrying 225 pounds of purified water
I think it's mostly going to be a mixed ending, the railroad might survive, the Minutemen will become a NCR styled faction and the Brotherhood of Steel will pick apart the Commonwealth for technology and then leave.
But they most certainly aren't going to let the Institute live or win any regard, which is a pity really.

Minutemen makes more sense as the "new NCR"
But hell if i want more of Preston in any other game or DLC. I can live with the BoS being "canon"

Now that I think about it, I think I am carrying enough nuka quantum to flood vault 111.
I can't wait for fallout 5 to come out with the minutemen as a major faction and there's absolutely no mention of the sole survivor because Garvey took credit for everything the survivor did.

Twister: The institute were the good guys.
Moan of the day: Radiation Storms.
Very cool and atmospheric, but nothing you can do about them. Was hoping going inside a building in your settlement would protect you, and settlers would run inside when there was a storm, alas nothing.

Nah, too easy. Gunners.
The Gunners are actually [sp]your son
edit: all of them at once
it's creepy[/sp]
Gotta say the more i play Fallout 4 the more i'm tempted to play through New Vegas again, kinda ironic really that the external developer makes the best game in the franchise.

they should have added lightning vein's you can build at your base or something that redirects the lightning so no rads and it also temporarily boosts power to your base.
Also the Gunners are more lost potential as well.
As a Merc faction they would have made for some good sidequests, or at least a few jobs you could do with them for tech or caps or something, instead of another kill everything loot return style mob, hell the fucking fiends had that Vault they took over which allowed you to be at least a little friendly with them, but instead they are just the Talon Merc's 2.0. :saddowns:

So this guy was at the Parsons State Insane Asylum. I didn't even use the resurrect command on him.
Fucking spooky.
I can't recommend this enough, it makes painting armor so much better.

I had a Legendary Raider spawn with no arm and when I killed her she had no legendary.

I hate how only the feral ghouls' scalps come off when you get a critical. It's hilariously stupid that whenever I blast a feral in the face with a shotgun, his scalp falls off.
I hate how if you kill a legendary that isn't of the dominant faction of an area (say, a single gunner amidst a supermutant camp becomes legendary), sometimes the game decides to despawn it for no reason if you don't keep it on screen after killing it.
This has happened to me a grand total of four times.
