The "universe" page says we will see more on user generated content, I'd say there's a pretty good chance that means there will be more Source 2 stuff this week.

"5 meter cord" that's an extra five feet compared to the oculus DK2 [editline]4th March 2015[/editline] that's vital to being able to stand in place with a cord running up to the ceiling and back down
Now room distance is going to be a system requirement
As long I don't get strangled it will probably work.
Here's some video footage from "Aperture", a Portal-themed Vive tech demo produced by Valve that tasks you with repairing a malfunctioning Atlas. The visuals definitely look a lot nicer than Portal 2...
So how does the haptic feedback feel on the controller? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38UgbU2KIDs From what I understand, it vibrates a little, making an audible noise - but what's the point of that? I understand if it was a glass screen - like on smartphones, but these pads are supposed to be a bit rough and one of them has a d-pad looking thing on it - so you can probably "feel" your fingers moving around - what does a little vibration add? Also, I'm kind of excited about the controller, hope it won't get delayed

It might be hard to understand, but once you hold on you'll probably get it.

Im highly anxious to see how well it can work. Im always curious to try new controller tech. Also, i hope im not the only one who tought that this analog made the design of the controller weird.

I would consider one of those in the event that I lost the patience for PC building.
So I am hearing talk about how Source 2 will be free to use for prospective developers. Is this in the same way as Unreal Engine will be (i.e. access to all source code and tools) or are we just going to get a Source 2 'SDK'? If the latter I would be quite disappointed given the increasing trend recently for full engines becoming free to use.
Call me optimistic but I think they might launch a game with the launch of the steam machines. It makes sense considering source 2, the date and the fact that we know they are at least working on hl3 and l4d3

You just have to release your game on Steam.
http://store.steampowered.com/universe/ They updated the page with a bunch of stuff. (Sadly no mention of source 2)
Heh, the games tab is empty. [editline]5th March 2015[/editline] Well, it was when I posted anyway.

Wow, 15 choices for Steam Machines. $460 to $5,000, quite the range.
Wow, 15 choices for Steam Machines. $460 to $5,000, quite the range.
I'm pretty curious to see what the minimum SM will put out (The Gigabyte BRIX, Intel Iris PRO graphics) It also makes me mad that Valve's own SM isn't going to be made
When they announced Steam Machines they always said they weren't going to do one themselves.
This. Because of the media being shit they managed to hype people into thinking Valve had their own.
When they announced Steam Machines they always said they weren't going to do one themselves.
Missed opportunity to make the Gabecube.
When they announced Steam Machines they always said they weren't going to do one themselves.
I think SteamVR HMDs will be exactly the same story. No HMD by Valve itself (even though HTC's HMD was based on Valve's and made in collab, it's still not actually Valve's headset) but a bunch of HMDs from different manufacturers.
Can we still expect Valve to release the CAD files for their case?
Built almost the same computer with my brother for considerably less 970 and regular HDD though
Those parts alone on Newegg goes below 1000. Toss in a basic mobo and some fans and you'll save like 600-800 dollars. Really ridiculous pricing.

So none of those Steam Machines are really all that good for their prices then. Oh well, I still have my eye on maybe getting a controller.
