Valve / Steam / Steam Machines, General Discussion v2.0- "Is Steam Down again?"
5,004 replies, posted
As someone who who values their Steam account and CS:GO inventory, I really hope I never have to get steam support for anything. I mean I'm careful and am probably smart enough to avoid scams but still...
I posted this in another thread, but since I found the appropriate thread I'll post it here instead.
"I realize I asked this question before, but the forums switched up and I have no idea where the Steam section went.
In any case, copying Steam games from one computer to another can be done simply through copying the game's folder to a USB, then copying it inside your newly installed Steam folder on the new computer? I wanna download big files like Skyrim's HD textures, apply them to the game and then just copy it all via USB so I can get to playing right away. I was wondering if that would work."
Yeah that should work and just verify your files when you install Skyrim. Or it should detect it.

Yeah, I know. Getting scammed was my fault, because I wasn't paying attention. Guess I have stay on guard next time I trade valuable shit.
So uh, I was browsing through Greenlight and I found...

And I thought that Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme was the worst game on Greenlight. Apparently I was wrong.

The best part? It'll be on steam because of "le funny epic troll vote, buy it for all one of my friends"
Captcha has been removed and replaced with email notification which you can disable.

Turning it off removes all support from steam
It would be wise to have this on

when will valve put a refund system in place for steam? ea did it, why can't anyone else?
Valve doesn't seem to have any idea what their doing.
So I was just told who started all this phishing bot nonsense.
A friend of a friend added me and while conversing about how he didn't leave a comment on my profile to tell me who he was (which I put in place thanks to all the phisher friend requests), he proceeded to tell me he's good friends with the guy who started it all.
Sikes: to answer your comment lol
Sikes: i like tf2 classic
Sikes: good friend of rubbers
Sikes is now Online.
404: ah
404: see
404: normall
404: people read the bit under my name
404: and leave a comment as to why they're adding me
404: because of all these FUCKING PHISHERS
404: xD
404: buuut, i sometimes ignore that myself
404: especially if i see friends in common
Sikes: yeah the steam stealers
Sikes: funny thing is i'm good friends with the person who started those
404: ...
Sikes: the person who coded and released the first big one
404: fucking hell
Sikes: i dont use it lol
Sikes: nor does he
404: it's just Jessecar's SteamBOT
404: recoded
Sikes: he just sells the product
Sikes: the first one was from some russian forum
404: well isn't that wonderful
Sikes: but it was bad
Sikes: then lapanther made and released the first "big" one
Sikes: then a bunch of other people copied it and made shitty ones
Sikes: and then steam got cancer
Sikes: theyre useless too, your account gets banned pretty fast
So I checked his friends list for this "Lapanther" fellow and found him:
http://steamcommunity.com/id/lapanthere
Feel free to thank him for giving Steam cancer.

Expected Community Ban, really
Oh I just re-read what Sikes told me. Lapanther made the first "big" one, but he didn't tell me who created the absolute first one. I'm trying to find out right now.
EDIT: Some russian forum is all he knows, but at least we know who made the first "big" one.
Sikes: some russian forum
Sikes: the first one that got relatively big and and kinda started the big steam disaster a few months ago was by lapanthere
Don't think he knows I've posted this either. Sike's original Steam account took a VACation (probably CS:GO if I had to guess) and he's apparently unable to even login to it (maybe Valve can actually lock people's accounts?)
To quote Jim Lahey from Trailer Park Boys (or make my own "shitism" up), birds of a shit-feather flock together.
[editline]lol[/editline]
404: http://5crat.ch/a/8t5c
404: ha
404: expected as much
Sikes: i didnt think he was community banned
404: xD
Sikes: he's a nice guy though
Sikes: he doesnt steal himself
404: yeah
404: gave steam cancer
Sikes: he just sells the product
404: nice guy
Sikes: good coder. smart guy
404: making money off fucking annoying cancer bots
Sikes: looool
404: smart guy who did a dumb fucking thing
Talk about mind-blowing! This totally sheds a lot of light on the steam phishing bots origin.
And I've submitted a SteamRep report just for shits and giggles.
http://forums.steamrep.com/threads/report-76561198043077632-none-no-items.89733/
is this new? a day or two ago i got one with a scam link and today i got the same comment with this

i guess valve is auto-removing links
Lapanthere Seems familiar to me. If I was recalled right, there was this twitch user who go by a similar name that admitted to view botting random streams on TF2 section (If you're view botting on twitch it results in the suspension of your twitch account). I think they might be the same person.
I hope this Lapanthere shit gets what's coming to him.
Someone just PMed me (keeping their identity secret) and showed me this:

Lapanthere explaining how to use Steam Stealer.
Needless to say, this motherfucker is going to get what's coming to him.
I'm going to file a Steam Support ticket too.

This is an interesting case. I'm not entirely sure if SR would investigate this "scam". I might ask around.
[editline]20th January 2015[/editline]
Add any evidence you find to the SR report too.

Already did so with the info about him potentially viewbotting on Twitch and the above Dailymotion video of him showing how to use Steam Stealer.
Also just submitted the Steam Support ticket under Bans & Cooldowns > Report a Cheat/Cheater.
[editline]edit[/editline]
Lol, found some videos on Dailymotion uploaded by a user named "SteamStealerX". The description featured a link to their site "SteamSealer" (just Google it, I don't want to get in trouble for posting the link). Upon visiting the site, I see they've got an announcement at the top of the page reading:
"Did you know? We currently work after the Captcha Update that Valve implemented (even the NoCaptcha Recaptcha!). We have also just opened public sales once again!"
But in their "Purchase" box further down the page, it states:
"SSE HAS BEEN PATCHED DUE TO THE LATEST STEAM UPDATE REQUIRING EMAIL CONFIRMATION."
Not sure what to think. If it was patched, then all these bots would be pointless, no?
Also, love the top header of the page: "Steam Stealer Extreme: Revolutionizing the Steam Item Stealing Industry". I guess there's such a thing as a "dickhole industry" now.
I think I've seen you around the SR forums possibly
I think I've seen you around the SR forums possibly
Well I do have a community application up for my group, UNFGaming.net and I have poked my nose into a report regarding a player who is a Moderator on my TF2 servers (the report has been dead as the player who reported him failed to provide additional information).
Dis be me!
Oh and I'm a Tier V ($100) donator :v:

He even brag about doing it. jesus.
fucking scum! He admitted to view botting and has alts, one of them I clearly remember that was reported on twitch and is banned. http://www.twitch.tv/furaffinity
[T]http://5crat.ch/a/1y3c[/T]
I thought it was time to throw Lapanthere to the wolves.
So I did this:

Now to sit back and watch the fun.
Snip
I can just picture all the skiddos who used mommys credit card to purchase this bot because they're a "1337 haxxor".
In Heavy's own words, "Keep crying babies".
