it's something stupid with social justice warriors and feminism that you should ignore
Rate me 100 x Late but what the fuck is this GamerGate shit everyone is talking about? I tried googling but I still don't get it.
Just look at this thread so we can stop polluting the thread with off-topic stuff.
Posting for a friend, but did anybody else sell a knife within the last 12 hours or so have the purchase cancelled, item returned, and receive a 7 day trade/market restriction?
Posting for a friend, but did anybody else sell a knife within the last 12 hours or so have the purchase cancelled, item returned, and receive a 7 day trade/market restriction?
I guess it has something to do with this http://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/34i9w7/the_steam_community_market_just_experienced_a/ Basically there was a glitch that caused 1 Indonesian Rupee to equal 1 USD, while the usual exchange rate is 13000 Rupee for 1 USD, therefore allowing to buy items on the market paying less than 1 cent
[del]Can someone help me out? I just got back home, and when I try to launch steam, I get this popup: Gonna try re-installing I guess.[/del] Reinstalling fixed it.

Quite interesting:
We hate the gift restrictions as much as you do. We thought it'd be helpful to explain to you why they exist so that you can have a better view into the challenges surrounding fraud. Throughout this post we'll talk about gifting compendiums to friends, but this applies in general to all items purchased from the store. Here's the problem: Bad guys buy compendiums with stolen credit cards, and then resell them to other players at a discount. It can take days to determine that the cards were stolen, and that a fraudulent item had been added to the economy. We can't effectively punish the fraudsters, because they're not really traceable - they commit the fraud on new or stolen accounts, never on their own accounts. In addition, these side markets make it very easy for people to get scammed. When this started happening in 2013, we decided that the impact fraud was having on players and the economy wasn't big enough compared to the drawbacks of imposing restrictions on everyone. Unfortunately, like all scams that make money, it ballooned rapidly. The moment a method of fraud becomes profitable, it will explode in scope until we can find a way to address it. In 2014, the percentage of compendium purchases that turned out to be fraudulent became very significant and we also saw a massive growth in scam-related support requests from users that didn't receive their items or had their accounts stolen. Additionally, credit card fraud can become a big problem for us because if our fraud rates climb too high, we will no longer be allowed to accept credit card payments at all. So, we added the time-based trade restriction to allow time to detect and limit the impact that the fraudulent activity has. We believe it actually hurts sales when we put restrictions on our players, because it means it's harder to buy a gift for your friend, for example. We hated doing it, but we didn't have a better solution. We are continuously exploring different methods to solve these problems, because we want to be able to stop fraud without affecting legitimate users.
Source is from a post on the Dora 2 subreddit, will update with it soon... ^more of this from Valve please. The more they communicate with people, the better for everyone. After all they really need the reputation boost right now.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND
For some reason when ImageMagick converts those images to png they have different hashes each time while having the same content. This started happening last week when we updated our server to Debian 8 Jessie. It's been disabled for now.
The more they communicate with people, the better for everyone.
Until they say something people don't like, like how Half-Life 3 isn't coming out this decade.

I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but here I go. I'm can't remember the name of a game that has some of the cool parts of the source engine. It has bunnyhopping, and strafing, as well as other mechanics such as double jumping and portals. It was also very colorful. If you help, thank you.

Team Fortress 2?
Portal? Portal 2? Team Fortress Classic? Team Fortress 2?
Why would I say "cool parts of the source engine" if it was a source game? Do TFC and TF2 have portals? Do any of those games have double jumping? The only other thing I can remember about it is part of the trailer. It listed features of the game and demoed them. For example, it would say double jump + strafe, or double jump + portal.

Plus you never said it wasn't a Source game.
That came off as very snotty. Especially since, yes, TF2 has portals and double jumping. Plus you never said it wasn't a Source game.
Thinking it's snotty is your fault, not mine. while TF2 has double jumping, it doesn't have portals (not counting teleporters) as far as I know or bunnyhopping. Would you describe a game on engine X as "having the parts of engine X"? The answer is most likely no, so why would I? Since this conversation has nothing to do with this thread, I'll not be replying to anything else. This post *is* snotty.
