Since when did it not be webkit exclusive? [t]http://7proxies.pw/i/2015/05/15-05-23_02-03-50.jpg[/t]
it worked anywhere on day1
Was bored, so counted how many updates Valve made this year to their games. Dota2: 38 TF2: 17 CSGO: 10
You better not talk shit about the amount of support TF2 got. Yeah, the updates got fewer, but over the course of 8 years it grew to Valve's best supported title with over 250 updates in total. Not even counting the awesome Meet the character videos and comics they did for it. Lore expansion, funny videos, Saxxy awards, events and everything. It's everything you could ever wish for. The Free2play system might got some bad feedback but it also might be the best thing for it to happen, because it's still being played a lot. Same goes with CS GO. It doesn't get as many updates as other games, but only because Valve knows the playerbase hates updates that change things. The skin stuff saved it from bombing and now contributes to frequent tournaments with rather big prize pools (250k $).
So, I can't voice my displeasure with them seemingly neglecting their titles nowadays (though a couple from MUS would argue it's been more than a year for TF2), because years ago they did a good job? That's not how it works. Again, these are services. They're rated continuously. Valve certainly did admirable with them and the way they turned around GO is amazing, but I still feel they could do more and probably should more, if they're giving Dota more attention. Which also carries over to Steam and its issues with CS. They know it has issues and said are working on long term fixes, however all these years they still left it as is, instead of coming up with an interim solution that would be better for customers. That's not cool.
They're still updating TF2. Most games aren't updated more than maybe a year or two after release, barring special occasions or serious bugs.

And let's not enter in a discussion about the single value of each major upgrade or the total fiasco of the two major community-driven events/updates this far, because we could stay here for a good while - The Meet the X era is over and provided us with nine nice videos. Aside from those and the genuinely amazing Expiration Date, the other videos released about the game are minor trailes with little to no substance to them. End of the Line is a very controversial video to say the least. And while the idea of an actual series of videos about the TF2 mercenaries would be incredible, Valve always disminished the idea (more likely due to having trouble releasing a fair amount of episodes in an animated series average release plan). Coming to the comics, the team is releasing minor comics for each Scream Fortress update (which, while funny and all, aren't canonic at all and their quality is disputable) and an ongoing series with the objective to change the TF2 setting forever. Now, while at the beginning the developers promised a comic every two month or so, after four or five issue we haven't been reading a single comic from that series for SIX WHOLE MONTHS. It's also no mystery (by the hired artist's own ammission) that the comic is ready for publishing, but it's withold for unknown reason. Given the latest issue ended with a huge cliffhanger and those whole six months made me completely uninterested in the whole thing, kudos - The events the developers team manage to cook up have different range of qualities, to say the least. While the majority of the players (me included) always liked each Scream Fortress event, the SF from last year was met with a "meh" reaction at best for a variety of reason (it didn't favor it the fact the event map was set in a game mode many people loathe, doomsday). Beside those, what events are you referring to, exactly? The last I can remember is the whole bonus ducks affair, and we all know how well that turned out - I've learned on my very skin, and this is a sad truth, that in multiplayer games the quality of the fanbase is more important than its quantity, and TF2 is no exception. It's a general consensus in our TF2 section that, since the advent of the F2P model, the community of the official server, as well as several community ones (a breed that is dying, by the way), is demented, prone to tantrums and mindless spam, with several players not being able to actually play the game anymore with a crowd of people just hanging around in the game to do anything BUT play (I'm not talking about playing like a competitive star, I'm talking about having a team at least trying to reach the map objective, regardless of your chances at winning) We must sadly realize that in nowadays triad of Valve's lead (and, if their own employees are a relayable source, only for the time being) games (Dota 2 and CS are the other two), Team Fortress 2 is growing up to be the unfavorite child no one is going to like. In our TF2 section there are high hopes about a possible future major update revolving around matchmaking (which however could worse the scenario too), but many seasoned players, me included, just uninstalled the game and are generally hopeless about it
Anyone not able to access the store right now? Keeps saying it's under heavy load, the client and web versions keep glitching out
yeah it made me miss the dying light sale, fucking bullshit
(Ugh... sorry if I am late, but) Is Valve going at E3 this year? I would want a new game from them: Either L4D3 or a new, unique project.... OR the long-waited Half-Life 3 -_- They haven't been at E3 in 2012, 2013 and last year :\ Well ? And 2nd question: Any news (in the last 3 months) about Source 2? When is Valve going to show us something on it? Do you know anything? Thank you in advance.
Valve doesn't do E3 anymore. At least they have not since Portal 2. There hasn't been any news on Source 2 since it was 'announced'
Valve isn't on the exhibitors list, so at this point your best chance is if they show up at one of the conferences. Source 2 at first will launch with Dota, Valve will see how it works, then launch it properly, according to Erik Jonhson in the Keighley podcast. Last year Valve said they're aiming first half this year with Dota's migration. But yes, otherwise no news since GDC.
I feel like it's just about too late for the Source 2 update to happen soon, with the International creeping closer and closer. It's almost guaranteed to cause so many little and big things to break, that doing it a couple of months before that event might not be enough. Wouldn't be surprised if it was postponed after.
They could release Source 2 on a beta branch without affecting the International.
That's the only way they could do it, because after TI come the majors. They wouldn't have much room for live experiments on the proper branch.
They could release Source 2 on a beta branch without affecting the International.
Didn't they announce Techies at the end of the last International? I could see them doing the same with Source 2.
He was introduced at the all-star match, then released in September. I can see the all-star match this time being a custom game mode.
IIRC Source 2 dota was used at DAC in the all-star match.
IIRC Source 2 dota was used at DAC in the all-star match.
Source? (of the info)
Source? (of the info)
I can't find the original post which had all the info and observations, but I remember it saying this wasn't being played on the workshop tools due to it looking "different". Again, the original post was on reddit so it might've been deleted or I'm blind.
Lots of code inside Dota 2 is probably marked as Do Not Fix, I guess it's written so poorly that they want it to survive past TI5 without any major problems :v:
You're probably right. The game as a shit ton of bugs.
