Valve / Steam / Steam Machines, General Discussion v2.0- "Is Steam Down again?"

This is huge.
How long has Steam had Trading Topics which shows all of your (albeit useless) steam community trading threads at /my/tradeoffers/tradetopics?
Is there a limit on how many games you can refund?
Did it come finally? Better steam support? I hope so
Also today I just randomly crafted a badge and got a 5$ background. And it's fucking awesome
We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.
Holy shit refunds on steam. What is going on.
I wonder if this plan works:
1. purchase a game
2. switch Steam to offline mode
3. play the game till you finish it (and the hours of gameplay aren't counted by Steam, obviously)
4. request a refund
5. :eng101: profit
:v: LOL

if they think you are abusing it they take it away from your account so you cannot use the refund

Steam will still count hours in offline mode.
I wonder if people would find a way to bypass it by simply copying the files and launching a shortcut to the exe with -nosteam
Steam will still count hours in offline mode.
Really? It counts hours EVEN IN offline mode?! o_O From what I knew, it didn't.
If you launch a game via Steam that you own on the client, it will count your hours. Very few games have their .exe and game files completely separated from Steam such that you can launch without Steam detecting it.

The instant you go back online, it'll tell the Steam servers. So if they pick up that you went from 0 hours to 18 hours after a refund, they'll be more than a little miffed.

you get event cards by crafting game badges
New challenge for speedrunners : buy a game on steam, speedrun the game in 2 hours and refund the game instantly.
I like that idea, hope somebody will do it.
what happens if you buy a game, launch it, then kill the steam process(es)? does steam still count hours then?

Bye bye Steam Refunds.
I remember the internet going apeshit when the Steam marketplace was introduced because they all hoped they could just sell their "used" games on Steam.
People always look for ways to bypass a system. Same goes for the "We won't pirate a game if it's good", cue in Portal 2 being one of the most pirated games from 2011.

they can't back out of this
european laws force them to have this refund policy, that's why they made them in the first place
they had a lawsuit about that for a while and they lost
