[QUOTE=Hell-met;47866080]steam guard turns me off so damn much
I literally don't want to refund a game only because i'm too lazy to go through the steam guard crap
I'm dumb.[/QUOTE]
so you don't want added protection for you steam account? Your loss I guess
[QUOTE=Antimuffin;47869968]People always look for ways to bypass a system. Same goes for the "We won't pirate a game if it's good", cue in Portal 2 being one of the most pirated games from 2011.[/QUOTE]
Portal 2 was certainly pirated a lot, but it was still below: Crysis 2, MW3, BF3, and FIFA 12. It's also Portal, which is a very far reaching series in regards to consumer base.
Does anyone know how to fix Steam when it keeps redownloading a game? I've been trying to download Arkham City for like 3 days and it keeps resetting to certain points over and over again. I just had it at like, 95%, and when I looked back it was paused and when I unpaused it it was back to 50%. It's really pissing me off. I've tried a few things I've seen online but most of them are from like 3 years ago and didn't work.
Though if they notice you're abusing it, they'll halt any further refunds on your account.

If you're in the Steam Beta, opt out of it.
[QUOTE=Hellsing4682;47872948]If you're in the Steam Beta, opt out of it.[/QUOTE]
Did this, but I cannot for the life of me get it to go back to being almost done. Guess I'll have to wait it out and hope opting out of the beta worked. Hadn't even realized I was in it. If this works, you are my hero.
Buuuut I won't know for another 10 hours at least.
[QUOTE=Maruhai;47870151]they can't back out of this
european laws force them to have this refund policy, that's why they made them in the first place
they had a lawsuit about that for a while and they lost[/QUOTE] If you mean the German lawsuit, Valve won, not lost. [url]http://www.gamepolitics.com/2014/02/07/valve-wins-german-lawsuit-concerning-used-digital-games-sales#.VW-N71J4XCQ[/url]
European law doesn't force them to give refunds, especially not any-reason refunds. Often people quote the 14-day withdrawal period, but that doesn't apply in this case: see Article 16 section m of the EU Consumer Rights Directive: [url]http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/PDF/?uri=CELEX:32011L0083&rid=1[/url]
You can disagree about the meaning of "performance" in the context of the directive, but even the strictest interpretation would imply that the moment you start a game up the performance has begun and you can no longer withdraw.

Australian one through.
We still don't even know what happened with the accc
Maybe they agreed to hide information about their plans for the refund platform, until it was ready

no Germany is much more stritch with their laws (and most of them are bullshit)
but multiple European countries, like France or the UK, have a 14 days refund policy, and Valve can't do much but oblige to it
[quote=Message by you on Wed, 3rd Jun 2015 19:54]
Under local consumer laws, I am allowed to request a refund on a product that does not fulfil purpose of which I bought it.
This cannot be done through the standard method, thus I am asked by the steamrefund policy to make a proper support ticket about the claim [/quote]

I'm just sad that I backed StarForge on Indiegogo.
I will never get that $15 back.

Well, if Europe doesn't force, Brazillian Law's enforces 30 day refunds.
[QUOTE]Consumer's Protection Code:

Also, every product has to have 30 days of warranty, even if it's a game. The problem is not a single Brazilian bother to fill a lawsuit at valve :v:

I still don't get it
why AA batteries that you have to remove every 80 hours of play and put in new ones?
[editline]4th June 2015[/editline]
also: how do you open steam support tickets now? I'm trying to request an exception for StarForge and can't find it anywhere
I think AA batteries were the way to go.
Just buy a pack of 4 rechargeable batteries that come with a charger and always keep 2 charged, its a pretty simple concept and if you somehow manage to forget to charge them you can just plug the controller into your PC/streaming device/wall charger with one of the many Micro USB cables you have laying around while your batteries charge
[editline]4th June 2015[/editline]
Hell, you can buy a 6ft long Micro USB cable if you refuse to use batteries

I'm probably going to go with the Micro USB, I wish the controller came with a rechargeable pack though, I think it's just easier to plug it in, let it charge, and not deal with swapping AAs.

to be fair, the Xbox 360 controller and pro u controller both have rechargeable batteries, both are pretty good too.
the best controller ever is still the gamecube one sorry
Someone on NeoGAF posted some stuff about his experience with what I can only assume is a near-final Steam Controller:
- You can use an generic Xbox 360 pad and Steam Controller at the same time, but the Xbox controller will be Player 1.
- On the on-screen keyboard: "Each touchpad is represented by a floating cursor that maps 1:1 with the keyboard. So the top left portion of a touchpad is the top left portion of the keyboard. It's like moving a mouse around an on-screen keyboard, except you can do two at once independently of each other (one with each thumb). To select your character, you press down on the button beneath the touchpad itself. Thats why they compared it to "texting" - because it feels quite a bit like texting on an old flip phone."
- The triggers count as two buttons - an analog trigger and a digital push button. Sort of like the old Gamecube shoulder buttons. You can map both of these to different commands. The Wolfenstein part of the trailer demonstrates this by having ADS and fire on the same trigger.
- It tells the computer that it's plugged into that it's a keyboard and mouse. Rebinding your controls reflashes the firmware to match. Turning on the controller auto-reflashes to default controls to make sure you don't get stuck with a wacky binding.
- This means that if Steam isn't running on the system you've connected the controller to (or you're using a system that can't run Steam - the guy got it working on a Win98 PC, a PS3, a Dreamcast and his System BIOS!) you can still use the default keybindings (WASD on one of the pads etc.)

Here is the wireless dongle for the controller:

Speaking of the controller, if they really gotta get rid of the touchscreen and put in more "traditional" controls for it, can I at least get this as a dang option?

C'mon, Valve. I don't ask for much.
Bought one. cant check my order status but atleast i got billing in my email which will send me email when they ship it off.
Did you check your billing?
[QUOTE=Starscre4M;47866014]So what happens if I buy a game drop all the cards, sell them and refund the game?[/QUOTE]
Look forward to Steam update: Dropped cards cannot be traded for any game still in its refund window.

Or, "trading/selling cards removes the ability to refund the game".
The steam refund page says you can get one for any reason, but what should i select as the reason if i'd like one because i got another Steam version from somewhere else? Does it matter what i choose?

As long as it is within the refund limits you can ask for a refund for ANY or no reason at all
My buddy refunded Shadow of Mordor that he bought in April and played for less than an hour. I guess the system's not working as intended, or the support was nice enough.
