Wow, you can't buy GTA V by itself anymore, they jacked the price up, while having the discount, so you pay pretty much the same.
I was excited when I saw GTAV 25% off. Then I saw the bundles with microtransactions. Holy fuck rockstar, you greedy fucks.
Do we have an official Sale thread, or are we just sticking here?

Seriously, does valve ever even expand their servers?
Every time SOMETHING happens on steam, servers go down. Seriously.

because it's that simple, right?

For a company like valve, it should be

It's SOOO hard for a company that has BILLIONS of dollars and MILLIONS of users to do something about servers shitting themselves when something happens, right?
They are not a small indie company
You don't buy servers expecting huge loads, that's just wasting money, you see how big the load gets and buy extra servers accordingly.
They can't go based on past sales either, Steam keeps growing so the load every sale gets bigger.

Next time you go shopping and your car is too small to take it all back it's your fault you piece of dickshit fucknuts bumcotton for not buying a big enough car beforehand.
Of course what I just said was hyperbolic sarcasm but I think it gets my point across, you buy what you need for right now and upgrade if what you have does not meet requirements for standard operation, not for every exceptional circumstance.
If the problem was just spending money to throw more servers at it they'd have fixed it already. That's what they do with the content servers, but those are, by design, as close as they can get to being dumb file servers. Scales better that way.
There's an analogy with threading; some things are what we call "embarassingly parallel". That's where you've got lots of tasks but they're all independent so you can just throw cores at the problem. Lots of problems aren't like that; you have to deal with complex interdepdencies and synchronisation. Throwing cores at it quickly hits the point of diminishing returns.
Sale is gash so far, not looking good. Only deal worth grabbing is Metro Redux
Also that GTA price geeeeeeez. I bought it cheaper on pre-order by about £10, even if it's not the Steam version :v:
So..whats the point of the mini game anyways?

They upped the price so it is the same as it was at launch when it's on sale. You can only buy GTA:V in a DLC bundle.
Also I have a better analogy to the server problem, think of it like a water pumping station(sort of)
As you can see, adding extra servers alone will not help data "inflow" is limited by mechanisms required to bring data in from the world web. Something to consider is that they could add new data sites but these data sites would have to cross communicate to remain in sync with eachother, and if USA data centre hat to talk with Ukraine Data centre... thats a whole lotta traffic.
"But just add more wires" you might say, more wires does not help, at the end of the day there is only so many slots on a router, ports on a switch and cables in a broadband line. Just like adding more tanks to a pumping station won't make the water flow faster, as the pipes are only so big, so add more pipes, but there are only so many pumps, so add more pumps... the building is only so large, so add new buildings? Valve is not a fucking construction company.

Can someone explain me how the game works?
I'm constantly attacking people but they don't lose any HP.

Server has hung up your connection for some reason, F5
Nice to see Take2 reached their lowest point..
So I just got a new laptop (yay). And when Steam Guard said they sent a verification code I got zilch. Is this just their server shitting themselves or is the issues much more sinister?
EDIT: Never mind, relogging in seemed to do the trick.
How do you get gold in the game?
Ah, the good ol steam sale. That time of year where I'm reminded I can't afford a game as cheap as 1 euro.
So what happens if I buy a game drop all the cards, sell them and refund the game?
Just an update, i've purchased Lucius on sale, found out the game sucks ass and then asked for a refund.
Steam refunded me but the cards are still on my inventory

That's a huge flaw in the system, honestly, and the only problem I have with refunds.
They are not a small indie company
They are by definition small in manpower and independently owned/operated.
The problem is they're sitting on a lot of money and not using it on things like temporarily increasing bandwidth or renting out servers during sales.

That lag and packet loss though...
so you can actually abuse the lag when upgrading by just mass clicking on the button. it'll still level up normally, except the levels will cost as much as the price it is while clicking it. just leveled lucky shot from 1 to 5 for only 50 gold pieces a level.

That would be nice if it actually did upgrade...
Why does Valve always have these half-baked ideas for their sales?
It also prints "NO. BAD HUMAN." When you try to switch targets too quickly

In JS console i mean
holy shit nearly two years later my Steam Wallet has changed from Euro to GBP somehow! I contacted Steam Support just when I moved and they required a UK passport or driving license to switch which I didn't have(and still don't). woot
