So Final Fantasy 13 was on sale on Steam so I picked it up. I tipically dislike JRPGs but FF13 was the first next gen game I played, so even though it's kinda crap it holds a special place in my heart. I really like that art style and music though, kick ass. Bad news is, the game is 59 GBs. That would literally take me 2-ish days.. yikes. Should I just go to a friends house and download the game on his computer, and then copy it to my 64GB USB and copy to my computer? That's possible right?

Er.. I'm not really sure what backup and restore games mean.
Oh, you mean backing up the actual game. I was planning on doing that just by sorting through the folders, I didn't Steam had that as an actual feature.

That's pointless advice. It's simpler just to copy and paste the game folder.
Wait, shit, does this Steam Inventory thing mean that we're never going to have to deal with item servers going down again?

No, when copying files, if there are many small files, transfer will take a lot longer than files that are bundled together
With today's Steamworks SDK update, we've released The Steam Inventory Service beta, a new feature available to developers with games or software on Steam. The Steam Inventory Service is a set of new Steamworks APIs and tools that allow a game to enable persistent items that have been purchase or unlocked by individual users without having to run special servers to keep track of these user's inventory.

With this service, a game can easily drop items to customers based on playtime or can grant items based on specific situations or actions within the game. These items can be marked as tradable through Steam or sellable via the Steam Marketplace. Developers can also configure recipes for crafting different combinations of items that result in more rare, unique, or valuable items.
This new service adds to the list of APIs available for free to Steamworks developers, including achievements, cloud saves, authentication services, error reporting, leaderboards, matchmaking, Steam Workshop, peer-to-peer networking, in-game overlay, downloadable content, and much more.
EDIT: Oops, beaten. My bad, yo.
Basically just opening up steam inventory to more games then.

Yup, I transferred games just by copy-pasting the folder inside steamapps/common, as well as the .acf with the corresponding app id from steamapps. Find the app id from the store page url, FF13 would be 292120
Internet died in the middle of a steam update, pretty sure it's fucked. What do I do now?
AAAAAAAAAAAAnd steam login servers down

Does this means we might see the TF2 crafting recipe out of the game ?
24 of my games on steam queued for an update all at once. Does anybody have an idea of what is going on?
Majority of the updates are 12.8 Mb so far.
[editline]6th February 2015[/editline]
Apparently they were VC redistributable updates.
2.6 MB, 12.8MB and 15.4MB
so Steam's {LINK REMOVED} filter now blocks reddit for some reason :|

They are doing a community service.

Close but no cigar

It also blocks sites like Gamespot and Deviantart as well.
More proof that people working on Steam have no idea what they're doing.
and Deviantart as well.
I think they know exactly what they're doing.
They probably added in some whitelist for links and they didn't add all of the popular ones yet. Be patient,
Steam isn't letting me upload artwork, I've tried both the steam site and steam itself but I get a 413 - 'Request Entity Too Large' error.

The 10mb limit is actually incorrect
What is it actually then?
What is it actually then?
Not a clue

7.98MB
Did you use the steam cleaner thing ?
Everyone who had those games installed got updates for redistributables

Umm
Is it just me, or is the front page broken again? I have a feeling my Panda might be freaking out, because when it shows its reports on the Front Page that it's blocking, it says stuff like "Phishing and Fraud detected".

Panda is the problem.
