i'm surprised the controllers arrived so quickly
I tried TF2 and Chivalry on balanced settings and they were unplayable, PC and link connected by Ethernet cables. Then played two brothers on fastest settings with no complaints. I guess if you play anything other than a first person game you should be fine.
I've seen impressions of people playing shooters through IHS. Even wireless. Again, it varies. Though your setup should be good. Could be driver issues, Win10 (if you use that), games themselves (though would be weird if Valve didn't properly add support for their own game for streaming). No idea.
Did anyone else had an issue with updating Firmware for Steam Controller? It literally took Steam 1,5 Hour to update it. Although Steam Controller disappoints me a bit... I feels wrong but good in hands.
Others had that issue as well, the fix was
I restarted steam and unplugged the controller. An update screen that used the BPM ui rather than the regular ui (as had happened before) popped up and it worked as it should.
Just ordered my controller and link. The shipping is quite expensive when ordering through steam but the free copy of rocket league probably makes up for it haha.
I tried my controller with Warframe, and after looking at the options for a long time I think i've found something i'm satisfied with. Also discovered that the controller on it's own isn't that great, but the software used to tweak it is so damn powerful. Exemple : I needed an extra button for the sprint, but couldn't find a place where it felt right, so i mapped it to the joystick. So if the joystick hit the outer rim, it automatically register as holding shift. A roll would be quickly tapping the outer rim. The trackpad is actually pretty cool for aiming, way better than a joystick, but you need the sensitivity really low, which means a lot of thumb movement for turning the camera. But i made it so that clicking the trackpad changes it's property to one of a joystick, meaning smooth camera when clicking the trackpad, and precision aiming when simply swiping. It's great.
I've found a "Highish" sensitivity to work best for aiming I found in stalker with it however that if anythings close to you you are pretty screwed heavy bullets isn't OK at all with it but ut99 is. heavy bullets is more "panic 1 shot" than anything
they said you'll be able to easily download others' configs through the steam community eventually, right?
So I've heard a lot of complaints about the steam controller, namely about its size, its cheap feel and the fact it's noisy as fuck. Some people have complained that the thing is near unusable on a lot of games, can actually fuck up your mouse controls and require a full PC restart, and such. I have a preorder at a local game shop, I can always use the reservation on something else or get my five bucks refunded (I'll pay the full price when I get the actual controller). At this point I think it'd be a lot safer to cancel the preorder and just buy a ONE controller instead.
the loudness is because people wanted loud, tactile feedback, doesn't seem like an issue to me
they said you'll be able to easily download others' configs through the steam community eventually, right?
You can do that already when you press X on the controller config screen.
How exactly can I configure controller to use on Desktop or other games? Example: BattleField 4 or OpenRA ?
You can do that already when you press X on the controller config screen.
alright, I don't get mine for three weeks anyway. no web interface for it?
Having spent a couple of evenings with the controller I'd say I've had mixed feelings so far. Unlike most other controllers, this thing definitely has a learning curve, which makes the immediate out-of-the-box experience somewhat disappointing. It feels weird to hold and use, particularly with regard to the back triggers and tightly grouped face buttons, incorrect muscle memory constantly kicks in, and nearly every game needs it's own tweaks within the customisation options to make the trackpads comfortable and responsive. I do feel like there is a lot of potential though. Playing about an hour of Half-Life 2 felt really good; the trackpad aiming was very precise and the rear triggers meant that I was making far fewer trips to face buttons with my thumb. Also, even though games like Rocket League don't make any meaningful use the features, I don't feel that my experience was negatively impacted either after a few adjustments. The biggest hurdle right now is a lack of support the setup of the device. Most games want you to use either a keyboard and mouse or a controller, not both at the same. This means if you are using customisation options to emulate mouse input for the camera and controller input for everything else, your experience will range from minor UI inconsistencies to no mouse or controller input at all. You can emulate an analogue stick with the trackpads or the WASD keys on the analogue stick, but neither setup is really ideal. Hopefully we'll start to see developers implement native support in the near future.
Right now my favorite part of the steam controller is that I can browse facepunch while sitting away from my PC.
how do I link people my controller profiles?
how do I link people my controller profiles?
what are you talking about? what are "controller profiles?"
what are you talking about? what are "controller profiles?"
I have this controller profile that shoots dicks out of the steam controller, how do I share it with people directly via internet link? I need to share my dickshooting profile and also, controller configuration I mean. LGS calls them profiles so that's where the weird wording came from
what are you talking about? what are "controller profiles?"
The steam contoller uses vdfs to read keybinds for specific apps or games. Elaborated here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/353370/discussions/0/490123197947943121/

I've tested Steam Controller in Metro 2033. Kinda pleasant feeling. If you want you can use my config called "METRO 2033 (PC + X360)" It uses two track-pads (Left - Walk , Right - Aim) and an analog stick as a D-PAD.
Man I wish I had money to preorder back when you could of gotten it in October. I ordered in September so now I have to wait until November 10th. I haven't heard of anybody using it for PC games like Deus Ex, STALKER, DayZ, ARMA 2 or anything like that. Anybody want to give it a try?

It feels just fine to play it on controller.... but the gameplay mixes the controls quite a bit. STALKER? It never works fine on my PC. The rest of the games... I don't own them but, feel free to give me a game to try.
Okay, been playing with steam link the whole day now and perhaps I over reacted earlier, the delay will only prevent you from playing twitch aim games, like tf2 sniper but you can still do well with all other classes. The only thing is that the streaming is sometimes really glitchy and will fuck your computer up big time. I tried to turn steam link off yesterday but it would turn itself back on after a minute, confused I went to check my computer and found I still heard sounds from big picture menu, but absolutely no video, just black screen and no matter what I did (Alt+Tab, Alt+F4, Alt+Enter, Ctrl+Esc, Ctrl+Alt+Del) there was no response. It just overtook my computer and wouldn't give me back the control and would refuse to be shut down. I had to unplug steam link from the socket and restart my computer just to gain normal function back. It's really annoying.
Okay, what the hell just happened. I had like 15 hours on Hitman Absolution, today I went to try out some contracts but I rage-quitted after like 10 minutes (alt+f4'd) and suddenly Steam added 200+ hours to my play time. Is that a common thing? How did that even happen? [t]http://i.imgur.com/Bgi4D6L.png[/t]

Alt+Tab game too early and you'll get a guarantee effect of Steam Crash or Freeze. Either way annoying as fuck. Some game tends to do that if you quit game different way (ex: Alt+F4)
Possible the program was left running in the background. Some game tends to do that if you quit game different way (ex: Alt+F4)
Yeah, that happened to me before but I checked my play time before playing and it was normal.
For those with the Steam Controller, turns out the gyro is pretty useful!
