I like that inside the packaging of the steam controller there is a breakdown (there is probably a better word) of every part that is in the controller.
I am absolutely blown away people are buying the steam controller and then bitching about how hard it is to remap, they don't want that this is like buying a vacuum cleaner and bitching about how it sucks up dirt [editline]20th October 2015[/editline]
But let's be honest... is it really worth to purchase X1 controller while X360 controller does the same job but cheaper?
x1 is definitely a lot better than the x360, it'd be worth it the xbox one "ELITE CONTROLLER" on the other hand, it's three times the price of the x1/steampad and yet has actual no extra features outside of "The same buttons just on the bottom" and interchangeable sticks
i like the controller i can finally emulate games without an xbox 360 controller also the controller feels super comfy
What X1 controller has that X360 doesn't have?
What X1 controller has that X360 doesn't have?
D-pad that is useable and internal batteries instead of bulge on the back. That's all I guess. It also feels better in hand, but that's very subjective.
Xbox One controller seems like something that could be good if you don't own a 360 pad yet
Xbox One controller seems like something that could be good if you don't own a 360 pad yet
I own X360 controller , Steam Controller , Snes Controller (on usb) , PS4 controller and some other cheap controllers. Well... there is really no point for X1 Controller for me.
Have you tried the gyro (fine tune) aiming with UT?
it's much like the wii u gamepad in Wind waker its great for a toggle button. Lets say you're playing witcher 3 with dual joystick mode. Need to shoot with the xbow real fast so you use the gyro. Good for quick uses, for competitive play it's kind of forgettable, at least from what I've seen so far. I'll have to try it more later on. The gryo is what you'd expect, it's pretty accurate but detracts from being physically 'in the air', making it a little bit hard to get used to, since you have to 'recalibrate' by swiveling your view all the way back around. You can't just move your thumb or mouse back, you have to spin the character. [editline]20th October 2015[/editline] getting used to the gyro in ut99, it actually seems very usable for shooters a gyro could totally work but don't expect to get used to it immediately :v:
I like that inside the packaging of the steam controller there is a breakdown (there is probably a better word) of every part that is in the controller.
yea i thought that was really cool but unfortunately it might get unnoticed by many
Is there actually a good reason why Valve doesn't do rolling updates, and instead does this?? [t]https://s.gvid.me/s/2015/10/20/sqx140.png[/t]
What X1 controller has that X360 doesn't have?
IR emitters, which when combined with Kinect can tell who's holding the controller and swap profiles on Xbox One automatically (which means fuckall for PC users, but still answering your question as is) Interchangeably wired and wireless modes instead of just wireless + charging Formerly industry leading rumble now present in Steam Controller. Analog sticks that don't suck. Plastic casing with no screw holes (actually important, hopefully next gen this is standard) Battery compartment that doesn't protrude.
Battery compartment that doesn't protrude.
As solid as the 360 controller was, this ended up bothering me way too much by the end of last generation. Even though I'm using a DS4 now, I really like the ways the Steam/Xbone controllers are hiding away the batteries now.
I swear the haptics on the steam controller sound like speaker interference.
Oi everyone with Steam controller, how does it feel when used for fighting games?
Nope [vid]http://sharex.moe/i/2015/10/15-10-21_11-21-38.webm[/vid]
it works now. it also appears on screenshot/artwork comments too
Oi everyone with Steam controller, how does it feel when used for fighting games?
I don't really play fighting games but I don't think the "dpad" is fit for them, because you have to press pretty hard. Maybe another configuration would be better though.
I don't really play fighting games but I don't think the "dpad" is fit for them, because you have to press pretty hard.
it works now. it also appears on screenshot/artwork comments too
Thanks It's good to finally be able to shut up notifications from dead threads
I was mostly wondering how would touch pad work for moving but then again of course it is on right and so are the buttons so It would become a mess then again.
both of the pads are touch responsive, but unless you're playing 4 button fighters, you should get used to the buttons in the back or use mode toggling on the front.
both of the pads are touch responsive, but unless you're playing 4 button fighters, you should get used to the buttons in the back or use mode toggling on the front.
Let's say for example Skullgirls, you tried it on that yet and if so is it good feeling at all for it?
Let's say for example Skullgirls, you tried it on that yet and if so is it good feeling at all for it?
haven't yet tried.
One of my main, but small gripes with the customization is not being able to use the ABXY buttons as mode-shift buttons. Also, it'd be nice if the customizing ui hid inapplicable settings. Like if you turn off trackball mode for mouse and then go into advanced, it still shows the trackball sliders. And things like if you set one of the touchpads to emulate a set of 4 buttons, it still shows mouse settings. A couple things I've noticed also, trackball mode is great for first person shooters. I turn it off for "twin-stick" games or topdown shooters, and games like starbound. One of the first things I do in a game using either joystick or mouse emulation, I turn down the sensitivity ingame almost all the way, and then do all sensitivity adjustments in the steam controller ui. It recommends this, but it makes such a difference that I thought I'd point it out. I've been playing the hell out of running with rifles. The precision aiming on the touchpad works so well.
Does the steam controller have actual rumble? For game events, not input feedback
If the store pages are to believed the Link is out of stock, and the Controller won't ship till Dec 2-9 for people who have ordered after oct. 19. Also both can be ordered from Amazon now.
Does the steam controller have actual rumble? For game events, not input feedback
It -can- do it, but I'm not sure if that's been exposed in the API yet for devs to actually use.
Does the steam controller have actual rumble? For game events, not input feedback
I haven't felt any, but if ^ that ^ guy is right, we might see it later on. The entire controller still feels like it's in beta tbh. You can't even configure the controller for desktop/big picture.
I'm surprised there isn't rumble on gamepad-native games, like when a xbox 360 controller would rumble.
