So what, do I gotta force a whitelist in it or something?
For 3 hours now I've been completely unable to log into my Steam account via the client. This is the message that shows up: Steam obviously isn't down, and logging in on the website itself via browser works normally. It also doesn't depend on the computer the client is on because the same thing happens on 4 different machines. In fact anyone could probably try connecting to my account without a password and still get a connection error message. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on? I don't want to contact Steam support because that's usually like talking to a brick wall.
Try running Steam with the -tcp startup flag
I'm gonna try this next time.
It works again, took 5 hours though for it to revert to normal
I find steam does that to me quite often, especially if I don't let it remember my account password for some reason. Usually retrying one or two times works. Steam works (or doesn't work) in mysterious ways.

Valve is setting up appointments for the press at GDC. Steam Machines related of course.
Valve is setting up appointments for the press at GDC. Steam Machines related of course.
Wanna know what rhymes with GDC?
Sure?:p

The Steam Mobile app will have a built-in authenticator, but you can also use apps such as Google Authenticator (provided your phone has a camera to scan a QR code)

It's only been six months since we last heard of this
Clearly they tested it for 5 months. Heh.
Testers decided it was too confusing, most useful functionality removed.
Clearly they tested it for 5 months. Heh.
Actually I hope they used that time to actually make the mobile experience a positive one. Website and application is a piece of shit

I'm having a weird issue with Steam where it's saying that my most recently played games are games that I haven't played in a while, or games that I don't own (I just double checked and they're games that are running free weekends, but I haven't installed them). The most recent games I can actually remember playing are Dota 2, Dota 2 Test, Warframe, Stranded Deep, and Starbound. However, my list (when I click the system tray icon) is showing the list as Sven Co-op, Black Mesa, NBA 2K15 (free weekend), Total War: Rome II Additional Depots (free weekend), and Company of Heroes 2 (again, free weekend). Is this a bug with Steam or what? Sven Co-op and Black Mesa remain at the top of the list regardless of anything - even if I boot a game, they'll stay as most recent.

Virtual Reality Mode Fixed a bug where the Steam client could crash when launching certain VR games. Workshop Fixed a bug publishing a Workshop item with a preview image when using an external tool. In-Home Streaming Optimized slice encoding for client decoding capabilities
does the word Tenfoot actually mean anything? What's different about it than using other locations? https://github.com/SteamDatabase/SteamTracking/tree/efa287553360fabb964a0ac0e43f3ece83eb59a9/ClientExtracted/tenfoot

A lot of the living room and hardware stuff has -foot themed codenames. Tenfoot for Big Picture Mode, Bigfoot for the Steam Machine, Littlefoot for unrevealed mobile experiments.
