This is only Gang Beasts though, xbox and steam controller both work in big picture mode though

How do you bring that up outside big picture? Also it is kinda nice. Extremely bad compared to typing on a real keyboard, but way ahead of any other onscreen keyboard gimmick schemes on consoles.

I got the Steam Link and controller on Friday (except for wireless issues, which is a problem with the signal in my house). Plugged in the Steam Link via ethernet, downloaded the firmware update (which took about 10 seconds), then asked me to put in a Steam code in my client, did that, straight away it works. Told me that there was a firmware update for my Steam controller and to plug it into the house computer. Did that, took 5 seconds, was all ready. I've really had no problems with the Steam Link at all. Everything just seems to work for me. The audio for me is excessively loud oddly enough. I have to set my volume to 20, whereas free to air TV runs on at least 50 for me.

My only fiddly issue was due to me using virtual audio cable on my PC meaning no sound comes through streaming to my tv unless I change my default audio device when streaming but that isn't really steam's fault that I have a weird audio set up. The streaming has been good quality and no lags/jumps at all, although I still feel a bit nooby using the controller.

Did they just do a full on global reboot of all the steam servers because its really weird to see every single server down, normally its just community but this was everything.

what's this "Your guest pass has expired. Your friends will miss you." in bold red with an overdue clock next to it? it didn't affect anything at all, but it looks spooky as fuck.

I think those scams usually worth though by downloading a file which infects your system when ran. If it didn't download anything then you're probably fine but a scan couldn't hurt. Now if you're really paranoid you could change your Steam password after the scan.
