That was added today

oh shit
of course i don't think it's hl3, but i'm hyped. i shouldn't be because it's probably nothing related to a new game.
So I used Steam in home streaming for the first time, from my Windows desktop to my shitty 7 year old Linux laptop. I'm actually pretty impressed, even my most demanding games were relatively smooth. Wouldn't use it for anything very serious, it occasionally hitches and streaming crashes. Nothing horrible, but if you were in the middle of a CS:GO match it would be a huge problem. Only problem is I cant figure out HDMI audio out on my laptop but that's not Steam's fault.
So, since Christmas is exactly two weeks away, has anyone tried to get Valve to actually fix their region-blocked gift system?
It's awful that, out of the 35 friends I have, I can only gift stuff to 2.
Asked the Smach Zero team a question on their kickstarter this is the response I got about their Handheld steam machine
Q: Why is there no footage of the actual device working? Am I backing the possibility of a Handheld Steam Machine or will the project fall through like others have before hand?
A: The crowdfunding campaign is to get funds to produce an industrial encapsulated prototype and manufacture the units to backers. Our current prototypes are not encapsulated, like the one that you can see in our video.
You're backing to get the ultimate PC handheld. AMD is directly supporting us and IMASD, an experienced hardware manufacturer, has secured a production plan to make it happen.

No, seriously, you can, and for much cheaper
What the fuck are they thinking

How much cheaper would it be to buy a real crowbar and have it custom painted in red and the Black Mesa logo?
How much cheaper would it be to buy a real crowbar and have it custom painted in red and the Black Mesa logo?
Painting it yourself isn't hard. Get some tape and tape around it to keep it even, spray paint what needs to be red, then let it dry and hand paint the logo. Hell, the letters can be stenciled in fairly easily. The logo could too if you're good with a boxcutter and have some spare cardboard.
What the fuck are they thinking
Probably that people might want something that's just a toy, not the real thing that's capable of doing real damage to people and property.

A toy crowbar should be cheaper than a real crowbar.
20 bucks ffs really...
[editline]12th December 2015[/editline]
Even a prop is cheaper...

It's not like a real crowbar is a particularly dangerous item to own.
Did steam stop adding free weekend games automatically to the library? I'm asking this because I noticed it had been a long time since I had a free weekend game in my library. And, today, I noticed Killing Floor 2 is free for the weekend, but I had to go to the store page to download it.
Are there any games yet that have full steam controller support yet? I think I heard something about Warframe but I couldn't find anything about it on steam

Don't know how reliable that list is. The Long Dark doesn't have official integration, just an official binding.
[editline]12th December 2015[/editline]
Same thing with Rocket League
Probably that people might want something that's just a toy, not the real thing that's capable of doing real damage to people and property.
So why does it cost more to buy something that's less capable
is there a way i can add a video showcase to my steam profile?
So why does it cost more to buy something that's less capable
If I remember economics correctly: Less demand. Crowbars are useful tools that are widely used and thus they can be mass produced reducing costs. A fake crowbar toy with half-life branding has much lower demand, and thus fewer are produced (because fewer can be sold) and thus the overall cost to make each one is higher which is passed on to the consumer.
Plus you are probably paying slightly more just because it's officially licensed.

Yeah, Rocket League just has an official 'binding' which is just the gamepad template (I think? not 100% sure) which emulates an x360 controller. I don't think that counts as proper integration. But then again, it doesn't really need proper integration, apart from maybe being able to use different mappings for things like menu and in-game.
What would official integration be, anyway?
What would official integration be, anyway?
IMO that'd be for a game to actually talk with the Steam controller API, for example using values from the pad instead of the emulated x360 joystick it emulates.

it would also show actions rather than buttons when you make/edit a config
like in CS:GO, you assign specific game inputs like 'Jump', 'Fire', 'FireAlt' to a button on the steam controller rather than a generic gamepad input to a button on the steam controller
there's also diff config settings for each mode in the game (ingame, buy menu, menu, if we take csgo as an example) while there's nothing like that for most other games
[editline]12th December 2015[/editline]
funnily valve says that csgo isn't configured for controllers, despite also having an official config for it, but i guess thats more of valve saying that controllers are ass at csgo
I am pretty disappointed in how the controller API works. It's really limiting. For example, there is no way to get all 3 gyro axes at once.
What would official integration be, anyway?
Yeah, to simplify, there's a difference in just using a control configuration, and having the steam controller programmed into the application.

Wrong reply target, but anyway
Is there any website that lets you search steam inventories?
There used to be a thing that let people search the inventories of all tf2 players for an item they wanted, I'd get hounded for a vintage concheror pretty often when I had one. I'm curious if there's one for steam gifts so I can find someone to trade for game dev tycoon easier
I can get the real deal cheaper.
I can actually kill people with it, too.

I can't even get it to work as a module for garry's mod, the bloody thing keeps returning 0 controllers connected :why:
Escrow is bugged for me.
