To stop spammers I take it?
I always thought steam would send you a notification saying 'this user from {x} wants to talk to you'
Accept/Deny
Either way haven't seen that window in years, don't mind it being patched out at all

Jumped into a ranked match in Rocket League and this happens, my Steam Controller went unresponsive. Had to play with KB+M, which was awful.

I love it
And The Mann for shutdown, right?
Hopefully we can have community start/stop/other sounds in the future.
It's a small, minor thing... But why not?

Anyone remember those ringtone designers on old cellphones?
I can't actually use this thing anymore because I can't get past the Migrating Configurations dialogue

After literally 15 minutes, it finally worked, but now I'm having all sorts of issues. Steam is frequently crashing and configuration changes are no longer instant. I guess that's what happens in a beta.
Oh good, I thought I was the only one having issues with configs not updating right away. I kept having to quit and relaunch games to get them working, or exporting them repeatedly, leaving me with a bunch of things to remove later.

Shit, I just noticed an errant pixel on my avatar and I can't update it until I get home from work.

That always popped up for me whenever someone not on my friends list tried to contact me.
Can't wait for steam controllers to be available in Canada. Amazon still does not have them on their website :(

I guess no one wanted to talk to me then 😆
Got my steam controller today! I find it a bit awkward that I can't use some sort of onscreen keyboard when browsing desktop, unless I actually keep the screen-eating onscreen keyboard that comes with Windows.

You can use the on-screen keyboard by pressing left stick while big picture is minimized.
Does anybody know how to capture the on-screen keyboard or the touch menu or other such stuff? I can't seem to record it with Fraps or anything.
Does anybody know how to capture the on-screen keyboard or the touch menu or other such stuff? I can't seem to record it with Fraps or anything.
the first problem is that you're still using fraps
I actually recommend the game bar over that despite the lower quality video. DXtory using the lagarith codec, shadow play if you have the card or http://beebom.com/2015/09/best-game-recording-software
fraps hasn't been updated in years and it uses a scary amount of memory.
I actually use Plays.TV these days, which is like Shadow Play with hardware encoding, record session, record on demand, and record last x seconds features. It appears more reliable than the Game Bar, which straight up doesn't work for half the games I try. I use Fraps occasionally when that doesn't work, and I keep it around for its benchmarking features which I use frequently. But even that wouldn't catch it.
I should probably drag out Dxtory again, I like using it with UTCodec YUV 420. Maybe that will work.
I wish I could try the controller before buying it. Sadly there are no "demo" of it in any local store
In fact I don't think they sell it anywhere here
My 360 controller still works like a charm at least, but I'm getting curious about the Steam one.
I'd wait for it to come to a local store. I bought it at my Gamestop around the corner, knowing that if I didn't like it I could just return it.

to be fair, most bad experiances come from a bad profile set up
it's better to get a friend to show you it or to buy it and refund it within the time you can. I don't see a store demo working good at all. In fact, I imagine people setting the trackpads to some insane crap and totally ruining the thing.

You should try lagarith codec as well
I should probably download that codec too and see how it works
only issue is dxtory for SOME rare games just outright crashes them, which blows :v:

I was talking about a demo mainly for the feel of the "trackpad" and stuff. Like how it fits in my hands, if it's comfortable, etc
Yeah, in some ways buying a new controller is like shopping for a mattress. You can walk into any electronics store in America and pick up and hold an Xbox One controller or a DS4. You're not gonna buy a mattress without lying down in it first, and you're generally not going to buy a controller without knowing how it feels first. That's going to be a major obstacle that Valve needs to sort out.
Speaking of comfort, how are you guys holding your controller? I feel like the controller is intended to be held with the index fingers on the bumper, the middle fingers on the trigger, and the ring and pinky fingers on the paddles. I tried that for days though and and couldn't make it work, so I just shifted my fingers down a notch (index on triggers, etc.), and I treat the paddles as the bumpers and use the bumpers for mode shifts and lesser-used functions and stuff.

I tried holding it like that as well (Lets call it the full grapple) and it didn't work so much. it's clear that that's the intended 'method' of holding it, but it's a bit... OFF. Maybe it's because I've used others for a bajillion years that don't have that shape.
instead I use the grips/paddles for what the bumpers would do for me otherwise (Jump, duck, stuff I'd have on the bumpers), and the bumpers as modifiers for menus or other shit like lean/reload/bomb/etc. basically the inverse of you. It seems to work great in the end.
I'm not even sure that's the intended method to be honest. Look at how they hold it in the official trailer.

I think the worst thing about the steam controller is that my control settings for even mice are way far out from what anyone else uses and I set reload to something obscene like mwheel up
any control setting advice I give is probably bad advice, but it works for me :v:

I hope they make the grip more friendly to click
the ONLY button that feels off are the grips, they're too high. S's is all F'ed up.
Also I worded it awkwardly, I meant to say that I use the paddles as the bumpers, and the bumpers are used as mode shifts and stuff. I'm using it the same way as you.

I play on ESDF so every config I make is automatically unusable for everyone else.

Is your USB stands port the worlds tightest USB port too, or is that just mine?
