i find it very hard to cope with the fact that [sp]you will never save him[/sp]
Update purgatory? What update? There needs to be more? Why? All I want to do is make my girlfriend play it...
[Sp]saving asriel would cheapen the story. Fuck that. It hurts in a bittersweet way and that's how it should be. [/sp]
[Sp]saving asriel would cheapen the story. Fuck that. It hurts in a bittersweet way and that's how it should be.[/Sp]
I'm not so sure about that. [sp]If anything, NOT being able to save him cheapens things. We know what it would take to bring him back, we have SEEN it happen. And we are talking about a player-character driven by determination. Our determination.[/sp] [sp]It seems awfully convenient that our player-character, despite bringing Asriel to his senses, capable of forgiving and comforting him no less, conveniently ends up falling short at the last hurdle. Despite finding Asriel at the very start of the Ruins, they don't make anywhere near enough of an effort to try and bring him back with them. They don't even TRY to convince him to at least TRY to make things work, especially since Alphys exists and might be able to figure out at least something.[/sp] [sp]What's more, you can't go back with all this foreknowledge and use it to get a better ending, unlike most of the Neutral endings, because True Reset was jammed in there to conveniently sweep all of your progress out the door and disable the ability to do a normal reset and have Frisk carry that knowledge into the next playthrough. Which causes a disconnect between what Frisk/Chara knows and what we as the player know. Which in turn causes dissonance when YOU know about key things, but your "avatar" is clueless and can't act accordingly, ripping you out of their shoes and blocking off avenues that you rightly SHOULD be able to take.[/sp] [sp]And you want to talk about cheap? How about Flowey getting his memory erased by the True Reset? Or having him not react when you reset in a Genocide run after he fearfully asks you to reconsider? THAT is cheap. THAT is cheating the player out of some genuinely interesting scenarios where the story could actually turn out differently due to Flowey knowing the truth ahead of time. THAT is cheating us out of going against all odds, slogging through greater hardships, just to convince our newfound goatbuddy to come with and not pretend to punish himself for his sins after they literally saved everyone. He doesn't even need to get his old body back, he just needs to be convinced to stop being such a little bitch and at least TRY to live life on the surface. After all, with the Barrier gone there's literally nothing stopping them from leaving the Underground.[/sp] [sp]Not to mention, I'm pretty sure that being the clone/replicant of a dead child, complete with the traumatic memory of fucking dying, is bittersweet enough, thank you very much. Not to mention, with all the fan desires to save Asriel, you will never be able to stop people from saving him in their own way. There's literally nothing you can do to stop that from being a thing.[/sp]
[Sp]I don't think flowey wanted to be saved. That's why he keeps telling you to leave him. You can't save everyone, and that's the lesson in that. If you could itd be a bit silly. It would just be pandering at this point. [/sp] [editline]10th September 2016[/editline] [Sp]giving us an option would seriously dampen one of the hardest hitting emotional impacts this game even has [/sp]

Its a game about dealing with consequences, you were too late to stop what happened to [sp]asriel[/sp], the fact that you can't accept that means that the game has done it's job.

Ignoring the obvious thing people want, there's room for expansion on Gaster and the Sans' machine. Also following the one bug patch, sans has the number to the phone toriel gave you in the ruins. I demand an explanation for this.

someone fixed a very infamous image spoilers for the game in general
I very vaguely remember the original. What was it again?
When are we going to get the patch that makes the attack bar not look like a JPEG mess? Only thing about the game that's bothered me since day 1, and I've never seen it acknowledged. [editline]11th September 2016[/editline] When exactly is the anniversary?
The 15th. About 4 days away.
3 days no news Inb4 The anniversary will have a steam sale and that will be it
It better be called the Undersale.
3 days no news Inb4 The anniversary will have a steam sale and that will be it
inb4 he raises the price by 50% for the day
A small thought from Toby.
thats it..?
As far as I know, the only things pending still are the rest of the Kickstarter rewards? Admittedly, one of those happens to be a game that is shrouded in darkness, but still. I got from the implication of [sp]hard mode's "ending" that it was meant to just be a small joke, nothing more.[/sp]
He's pretty overdue for another update on the remaining kickstarter rewards (alarm clock, comics, new game) so maybe we'll get an update on that, but beyond that i'm not expecting anything else.
That's my main concern, that he won't actually get around to them. Screw "not wanting to", he's pretty much obligated to get them done. I just hope he's actually been working on them and simply hasn't been talking about them for the sake of surprise and getting things right, optimistic as that sounds. Otherwise, hoo boy, that's a controversy bubble waiting to pop. Nowhere near as massive as the No Man's Sky debacle surrounding Sean Murray, but it's still a matter of broken promises. I don't expect the new game to come out so soon, not in the slightest. And if anything, ideally "Shrouded in Darkness" would be officially announced some time after he's done with the Kickstarter rewards.
I expect nothing and I will be disappointed anyway
I anticipate disappointment too. Though I don't expect much, I hope that there is at least something.

two days left its not happening
So, would I totally be wishing on a monkey's paw by saying I'd watch the hell out of an Undertale movie? I mean, it seems hard to fuck up if you're putting the slightest thought into it. It's not long, so adaptation is pretty much down to working the bits of story in the genocide path into the pacifist path... and working/reworking the whole "saving/resetting" aspect to be less game-centric and confuse people. I mean, it's already got the right three act structure going.
Nah, I feel like it works better as a comic. (Considering most of the fan comics I read are really good) But to me, I can't help but feel that if Undertale had an official comic series, it might end up like the TF2 comic series. In which it has really good story that keeps you wanting to read more but updates really slowly like once a year. :/
