Actually, it happened early for me, where I realized I had something special. A lot of people scoff or take umbridge with Toriel's worrywart behavior at the start, but I actually found it endearing to see she cared that much. I think the moment she holds your hand across the spike floor is important, as it says so much about her nature that words just can't.
I was so surprised afterward, when she asks me to stay in the room... and while knowing the game clearly wanted me to leave the room and go off by myself, I actually felt pangs of guilt. I was concerned about betraying the trust of this character I've know for a grand total of 5-10 minutes, who's composed of some pixels and a warbly dialogue sound effect.

I found her somewhat creepy what with just meeting me and immediately taking the role of mom. The crayons and kids shoes in the boxes didn't help. Still felt a bit bad about killing her because she didn't seem to actually mean any harm at any point, even avoiding attacking you if you were low hp

To be honest Flowey was a bit at fault as well, his role at the start is to make the player assume that you shouldn't trust a character immediately

Well in the other endings she comes out anyway. The stuff you do in the pacifist run I guess eats up more of your time so she arrives in time to intervene, rather than after the damage is done.
