This would sound out of place in any other RPG:
[sp]Grinding makes the final boss way harder.[/sp]
I think we were supposed to have learned that leveling up was a bad thing years ago with Disgaea. No wonder that everybody on that game is literally a demon. Going all the way to level 9999 is the ultimate test to prove that your truly the most wicked and evil creature.
Metal Crusher undoubtedly.
I agree. LISA left me feeling the same way Undertale did [sp](but without the mercy...)[/sp]
It's such an underrated game and I can't believe it fell under the radar like it did. It's a shame, they both hit all the marks that can bring the medium to its fullest.
Tbh LISA hit me the hardest any game since Silent Hill 2 ever had. Regardless of how heavy the tone and the atmosphere in the beginning is, the game manages to outdo itself at every step. From the symbolism to the small things you learn throughout.
And yet the pitch black humor, the presentation, the small narratives, it just keeps you going. Even if everything is just hopeless and broken.
I'm very disappointed that this game didn't get more attention.

I'm impressed I managed to make such an unflattering image of Toriel's head.
Nothing will ever beat this though.

first thought was holy shit gilvasunner is alive
second thought was who the fuck hacked gilvasunner

these are great
No one hacked him, it's just a different channel with the same name and picture.
Actually, upon further inspection the name is not the same, as the L has in fact been replaced with a capital I, I.E. GiIvasunner :eng101:
So I was always bothered by Toriel's front sprite, her mouth isn't centered for some reason.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/7hGc8DB.png[/img_thumb]
So I decided to see what it would look like if the face were symmetrical.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/0ZBLq82.png[/img_thumb]
I went a step further for shits and giggles and added her nostrils.

I sorta see why toby didn't go with it, but then I tried again and then this happened and I just gave up.
I found a possible plot hole in Undertale
The one thing that bugs me the most is how they explain in the library that [sp]Humans are incapable of using magic. So how were they able to create the magical barrier? How do human wizards exist?[/sp]

I presume that [sp] Undyne has that much determination. They are special in their own way [/sp]

[sp]Its more than likely that humanity stole monster souls to do it, as it was stated that the war was a straight slaughter for monster kind in general.[/sp]

I've a theory that I've put forward many times. It's theorized that [sp]a human could take the soul of a Boss Monster, much like how a monster could take the soul of a human. While it says that it may never have happened, I like to think that it did. At least seven times.
A monster with the soul of a human would become very powerful indeed, but a human with the soul of a Boss Monster would inherit the "flexibility" of spirit needed to express themselves through magic. So I summarize that during the War, many Boss Monsters were slain by various human warriors, and by taking their souls the warriors were able to perform powerful magicks, which in turn contributed to the near-obliteration of monsterkind.
However at the war's end, perhaps the wisest of the wizards showed the survivors mercy and shepherded them underground, and with the power of their six like-minded peers, they erected the barrier to keep them from returning to the surface. Perhaps it was so long ago, being that Toriel and Asgore were pretty much the last of their kind, that no-one truly remembers how the humans managed it?[/sp]

One could argue that because it says [sp]"Humans will never know the Joy of EXPRESSING themselves through magic" It's more a case of humans CAN to magic but it's not something intrinsic them. Monster magic is more like they physical manifestation of their feelings and emotions due to them being comprised of magic stuff. A monster can become determined, as is the case with undyne and the amalgamates but it's not the same whereas for humans Determination allows them to persist AFTER death monster determination allows them to keep going and delay death.
Human magic would not be an expression of their emotions but much like is depicted in most fantasy settings, a little understood process by which an effect is created from subtle manipulation of forces unseen. Whereas a monster might call upon fire out of warm emotions, love, hate, passion etc... A human would have to bend and twist their mind in was to manipulate an unseen force into flame.[/sp]
Of course as fun as it is to speculate and extrapolate along strange lines of thinking there is always the eternal truth to everything in undertale.
Toby made that shit up as he went along.
If his tweets and various blog and forum posts are to be believed, he literally started with "You're in some underground cavern with monsters, flowey is the villain." and made it up from there. I know that he was working on a Romhack called "underbound" and it started with a sprite of flowey, the protagonist and froggit.
That could also work...

oh shit I always thought it was her nose. it makes so much sense now why her talking animation puts 2 squares inbetween the top squares like this

imo it looks better as her nose anyways, and your last attempt is probably the best solution
does this make you feel better?

Undertale Megathread v6: Toriel's Facelift
Huh, that actually looks pretty damn neat.
[sp]Its more than likely that humanity stole monster souls to do it, as it was stated that the war was a straight slaughter for monster kind in general.[/sp]
[sp]But when recounting how it's possible a human could take a boss monster's soul, doesn't it also say it's never happened before?[/sp]
I'm with thisguy's explanation.
