[sp]He deserves it[/sp] Now, the real ending has [sp]that bittersweet tinge to it, that really makes you long after the story, wants you to delve into it further, find explanations, solutions to the issue presented at the end of a true pacifist run. It even shows how well-written the characters are, that we legitimately care about a thing that tried to actively murder us for the most of its screen-time. I feel if the game actually ended with Asriel being revived, it wouldn't pack the punch it did. It would feel like that generic hollywood happy ending. I've said this before but I'll repeat myself because I feel this is important. Don't indulge into fan endings too much. They're interesting ideas and its appealing since Undertale has no guarenteed updates or sequels or anything but ultimately its not canon and toying too much with it tends to end up devaluing the game's story itself. I think this has already been said, so I will put this another way: If Undertale is EVER going to get another update, toby has to make something that fans have not already made. The more endings and spinoffs and headcanons or whatever that get made, the fewer options toby has to make new stuff. Why is this important? [sp]IF YOU WANT ANY HOPE OF SAVING ASRIEL CANONICALLY, WAIT FOR TOBY TO MAKE AN UPDATE INSTEAD OF MAKING STUFF IN HIS PLACE.[/sp] Canon/Official content is the only thing that matters.

Because no matter how well made, fan content is still creatively limited to a pre-established world and its outcomes. i actually think fan 're-interpretations' of Undertale's ending are disrespectful to the original work. The work is complete and the artist has crafted their story to end where they meant it to end. Let it be. Use the inspiration to work on something original and new, something that's yours. Just like Undertale itself. Toby recognized that the work he was doing early on was an extension of Mother and it would be inappropriate to create a full game experience out of a pre-existing work he didn't make. It's why i'm ambivalent about all the illustrated 'AUs,' fanblogs, and mock-ups that take themselves seriously, trying to imitate the original game, only with a twist or alteration. All the work put into the art that takes from and imitates the source, but uses a different story, generating significant sub-fan-bases that look to this 'new' work as a fulfillment of their desire to see the game as they wish it was instead of the final product that the original artist put their heart into. How would you feel about someone taking your story, the project you dedicated yourself to, and changing it, calling it an alternate universe of your canon, and attracting the focus of hundreds/thousands of fans away from your original work?
