a reminder that this is sans' only correct response:

I don't agree with the "Sans doesn't care about his brother's death" thing. That's just silly and very much out of character. Sans shows he cares about his brother. A lot. Would someone that didn't care about his brother [sp]call you a 'Dirty Brother Killer'?[/sp]
Sans shows that he's effected by the death of Papyrus in a very obvious way. By [sp]avoiding you for the entire rest of the game, all the way until Judgement[/sp]. There's a clear cause and effect there, and I don't think it's Sans avoiding you on the basis of you being a killer in general. It only happens when Papyrus dies.
[sp]He doesn't fight you until you commit Genocide, but that does NOT mean he doesn't love his brother. His knowledge of resets simply makes him apathetic, knowing that any of his experiences will be wiped away and he'll have never known anything happened to begin with. He only fights you because "Seeing what comes next, I can't afford not to care anymore." Aka total destruction of the world via Chara. In whatever Mechanism he views timelines jumping left and right, stopping and starting, he can see the end of everything. This is the one motivation he has to stop you, the only thing to force him out of his apathetic "nothing matters" worldview, because the genocide timeline matters the most.[/sp]

no shit he cares
the image is a response to all the fanart depicting him as a blubbering pissbaby
As long as you're not a child murdering everything that moves, he just won't care.
And the threat of complete destruction of spacetime. It's not enough that you're murdering everything.
No, wait. I forgot about the promise.
At one point in time, countless cycles ago, he might have been that way (sans the full-on tears 'cause he's technically just bones), but despite not [sp]remembering all of the times Papyrus probably got absolutely wrecked by Flowey[/sp] (to the best of our knowledge) he's all too aware that [sp]everything could be reset at any moment.[/sp] And while once upon a time he might've freaked out at the concept, by the time we see him he's probably buried all of those anxieties folks have dug up, and acts all laid-back since there's nothing he can really do about it and that, if [sp]the world resets, nothing that he does matters, especially since he won't remember a damn thing.[/sp]
So what kind of merchandise would you guys like to see next? Wouldn't mind more plushes and figures.
I imagine one thing would be alarm clocks in the shape of regular Mettaton.
Probably wouldn't be hard to design a sculpt for it. He's literally a freaking rectangle!

I want a bed that, when not in use, retracts into an easy-to-draw box.

I actually really hope they make a Delta Rune-crested robe or something, like the [sp]Dreemurrs[/sp] wear. I like the Delta Rune shirt but it just doesn't feel quite the same as what could be.
It's funny how I never had a problem with fanart of either Sans or Papyrus crying when it comes to the whole " they can't cry, they are skeletons " argument.
I mean [sp] Sans fucking sweats when you fight him in Geno. Not only that but he gets fatigued and exhausted even thought he doesn't have lungs or any other organs for that matter to tire out [/sp]
To be frank I'm ok with them shedding tears since it's still follows the cartoon logic of the game.

It's a dumb argument really. Like yeah skeletons don't cry due to lack of tear ducts. They also don't move due to lack of muscles or eat due to lacking a digestive system. Or anything, they don't have brains or any form of nervous system.
Geno Spoilers:
One of the best fanmade fights I ever seen. Those knife slice attacks animations gave me a hard on.

Hate to burst your bubble but this was already posted, and it should be linked for spoilers.
Though I've seen a lot of the spoilers slip by in everyone else's posts so I guess no one cares anymore?

Hey
[sp]I care[/sp]
Besides, while that thing is well made, yeah, it really misses the point on a lot of things.
Incoming shitty pun! *Geno spoilers!*
Yeesh dude
and yes, generally i dislike fanfiction. But i also don't shit on every single fan work??
Sorry, was in a bad mood yesterday when I read your post and I took it more personally than I ought to have since I used to be a fanfiction writer myself (WorldWar if you're curious.)
Still it did look like you were accusing the Overtale dev team of lying cause you outright said:
and yes, they are trying to make it better, despite what they say.

They are looking at a base game and saying, "you know what would be better? If x character was y and we put them in z location, and made this track sound like that instead, and we used a new engine and graphics etc..."
That feels more like an attack at the dev team (and by consequence fanfiction in general) than a legitimate critique. Besides, there have been great works that are basically fanfiction: Dante's Divine Comedy (literally a self-insert bible fanfic), The Penelopidian (retelling of The Odyssey from POV of Odysseus's wife, Penelope), and The Aeneid (direct spin off of The Iliad aping the same writing style as Homer's).
It is good to create your own narrative and characters, yes. But it's also intriguing to read continuations or 'what-ifs' based off of real or ficticious stories and events. If no one did that as you said that they should, the Alternate History genre wouldn't exist.
Again, I'm sorry if you don't mean any offense as neither do I, but you did come off being agressive from my stance.
As a peace offer, here is the latest Storyshift update.
It just makes you wonder if they're not being too overly-ambitious with it. Undertale took years to develop and it's, in essence, a simplistic, short game.
They're trying to create a full-fledged RPG, and seeing some of the "artist" contributions (clown-hippy-skeleton, seriously? Asriel "concept" that looks like something I'd scribble up?), I just think it will become one big gigantic pile of crushed hopes and dreams.
Yes I get the sentiment, the world and story of Undertale is crafted and written in such a way that it's hard to let it go. Hell if it was I wouldn't be writing in this thread. It's nice for people to share different "what if" scenarios, but this... This just feels like it goes too far. Great! They'll learn a lot about gamedev undoubtedly, one the other hand though, why not greate a game -inspired- by Undertale?
Craft your own legacy. Undertale gives plenty of inspiration as per gameplay mechanics. Pacifism instead of xp grinding can make an RPG really fun, especially coupled with a creative, fun dialogue/negotiation system. It wouldn't need the Undertale badge plastered onto it, if the story and gameplay mechanics played together as well as they did in the original.
I get it, I want to [sp]save goatbro[/sp] just as much as anyone. I had already devised a headcanon that makes it work in the least ridiculous Jesus-esque way. And I'm satisfied, and official way would of course be nice. This "alternate sequel" though plays along a rather simplistic story that's a fun concept, but definitely not worthy of a full game.
You don't want to let go, but you have to, eventually.
After all
Don't you have anything better to do?

Personally I don't care much for Overtale other than the OST. What I don't fancy was Chapsfield seemingly agressive attitude not just to the Overtale dev team but towards fan work in general. Like I said, yeah unique narratives are good overall but...
Screw it, it's clear that I'm in the minority here, and I'm defending something that I don't even like. You do you and I do me, I guess.

It's a sort of French surreal horror RPG. You can check it out here.
Jesus I checked out the endings [sp]where you kill everyone except for Papyrus, and where you kill only Mettaton/Alphys[/sp]
[sp]Papyrus' innocence is overwhelming[/sp]

My friend was playing UT as a generic RPG and got that ending first run since it he was the only one who offered him to win without a kill during the fight.
Alas, poor Papyrus
Does this game use a save file outside of appdata that I don't know about, I'm trying to switch between saves and its just acting like there isn't one and telling me to name the human and start over
It also keeps breaking entirely for no reason and I have to keep downloading the entire thing again, I just want to load a different save..
