What was this it got taken down, I'm really curious.
[sp]It's sorta implied that the 6 humans before Frisk actually died due to general hazards in the underground and the souls were simply recovered, based upon finding items from them in various places. Such as the tu-tu in Waterfall and the Apron/Frying Pan in Hotlands. Afaik Frisk is the only one he actually fought, I could be wrong though.[/sp]
I could swear that Toby once made a tweet emphasizing something along the lines of [sp]none of the children made it past Asgore[/sp] rather than [sp]none of the children made it to Asgore[/sp].
Found the tweet in question
Didn't someone from the Game Maker team contact Toby on twitter soon after he said that though?
Yeah, not sure what came from that but hopefully Toby received some in progress exporter maybe?

Well fuck. The only cop out I can think of is if Asgore let someone else do the deed after they got captured or Alphys was in charge of collecting the souls in the canisters.
Also I tried looking up that tweet and I can't find it. Then again I never use twitter so I have no idea how to navigate his page.

[sp]If you want to believe that they died where you found all the items then do it lol, Toby designed the game to leave so much open to your own interpretation anyways.[/sp]

It was on his old twitter account. I was able to find it by looking up [sp]"toby fox past asgore"[/sp] and then viewing the cached page.
Holy moly my channel has grown because of Undertale. I was at like 300 subs a month and a half ago.

Y'know, at this point we might as well write a "Heavy Raintale" AU where [sp]Asgore is the Origami Killer[/sp] just to run this nonsense into the ground.

Honestly Asgore is the kinda guy who would be able to kill kids no problem any time of the day but if you ever brought up the subject he'd probably break down and cry if you made him think about it.

As much as I like to make fun of Asgore, I think he's one of the best characters in Undertale, easily better than Toriel. I still empathise with him when the story actually shows his inner conflict when you face him.
Are we maybe being a bit too hard on Asgore "under nine you ain't fine" Dreemurr?

I mean I'd agree that he is pretty dang interesting and all, but as I said earlier, he pretty much deserves all of the hate from Toriel. If not more.
[sp]he's weak-willed as fuck and, more to the point, cowardly to a downright pathetic point[/sp]
That said, I still love the ol' fuzzy Asgore "six in age and feet under" Dreemurr

And yet Toriel gets away scot-free? I don't remember who said it, but the fact that [sp]she lets six other kids/humans go even though she KNOWS that Asgore will kill them for their souls because they don't stand a chance makes her a scumbag. If anything, even if she 'tested' all of them (unlikely), she is a coward for not going with them to escort them and perhaps convince Asgore in letting them through the barrier without having them killed. She's a massive hypocrite when she calls out on Asgore's weak will when she herself was too much of a coward to protect them from Asgore.[/sp]
True. I'd like to see her getting called out on that. It'd be an interesting comic if nothing else.

king "You must be this tall to keep your soul" Dreemurr gets no sympathy from me. you all seem to be forgetting that [sp]there is no need to murder the human children, he is killing these kids so that he can hide away and avoid responsibility. Toriel on the other hand can't bring herself to confront her murderous authoritarian ex-husband and that is perfectly understandable.
Who the hell is so twisted as to decide that 6x child murder and then suicide by the 7th is a preferable alternative to breaking your promise as king?[/sp]
[sp]Asgore "Got a divorce? Try lethal force," "Mourns his marriage with burning baby carriages," "Sets kids aflame to hide his shame," "King of Whiners and Slayer of Minors," "Pre-pubescent? Steal their essence," "Buries his remorse in a pile of corpses" Dreemurr[/sp]

That just means Toriel is a loser. You make it sound like she's the victim of domestic abuse [sp]when she's obviously the head of the house in the relationship, evident by the lab tapes and her BTFO of Asgore at the pacifist ending. Toriel is just stuck up and doesn't want to grace Asgore with her presence rather than actually trying to resolve the issues. She left him before he actually did any killing, and if Asgore was stubborn its probably because their kids deaths happened the same day. She never went back.[/sp]
[sp]Also Asgore wasn't doing killing the kids so he could keep his reign, he was doing it because that's what he thought would give people hope. The suicide is where Asgore actually comes to terms with all the shit that he's done and realizes that more than serving his people, he just wants to be the family man again. If he can't be the family man, he doesn't care to be king, and offs himself believing that he can do one last thing for the kingdom since there's nothing left in this world for him to enjoy.[/sp]

Fuck me. I finished Undertale a few days ago and it's not leaving my brain. All of my friends were bugging me to finish it for months, and only now do I understand why.
Also, on the current topic, there is one thing about Toriel that bugs me: [sp]We give Asgore a lot of shit for murdering humans that come to the underground, but what about Toriel? Sure, she tries to save you in the beginning, but she also says that what Asgore should have done is use one soul to cross the barrier and get six human souls, then come back and free everyone "peacefully". Am I misunderstanding this, or is Toriel actually suggesting that Asgore is right to be killing humans, he just needs to be more proactive about it?[/sp]

[sp]There is no need to murder the children IF the Underground's fine with staying Underground, and it's made clear that after the death of Asriel and Asgore, in a fit of anger, declared war on humanity and promised to break the barrier and free all monsters, his subjects expected him to make good on his promise. The problem is that he in hindsight realized that 'oh shit, I actually need to kill kids' to achieve that promise. He could have gone with only killing one child and going crossing the barrier himself and collecting the other six souls like Toriel said, but he never really wanted to kill anyone or declare war on humanity. He makes that absolutely clear.
The only reason he did kill those kids was because he was bound by his promise to his people. If he had let even one through scot-free, monsters would probably get mad at him. So instead what he did was kill them himself (or have the Royal Guard do it) and store away the collected souls, hoping that he wouldn't have to deal with the obvious conclusion that he WOULD eventually have to deal with humanity as a whole.
It's also obvious that he absolutely HATES the fact that he is trying to kill you. Asides from the obvious stance where he avoids your eyes because he feels ashamed, he destroyed the MERCY button not because he didn't want you to talk your way out of the fight, but because he felt that he didn't deserve any mercy. Shit like that weighs heavy on a dude.[/sp]
Is he a coward? Of course, that's not what's being argued. But he is sympathetic in the sense that he put himself in a position where there is no easy way out. [sp]His suicide can be construed as Asgore being a coward, but you have to realize that this is the guy who REALLY wants to offer you, the supposed enemy of all monsters, a cup of tea. He doesn't want to disappoint ANYONE.[/sp]
I dunno, I feel that I can admire his honesty more than Toriel's outright hypocrisy, but that's just me I guess.

[sp]Toriel is just being a bitch, calling out Asgore for not risking his life to go to the surface and "collect" more souls, nevermind that their own son tried it and got killed in the process. This whole argument goes against Toriel's supposed mercy/peace/life over everything else attitude, and she only brought it up to call out Asgore.[/sp]

[sp]She's against killing humans (specifically kids) period. She DOES understand that the only way to break the barrier would be with seven human souls, but to do so, that means that seven humans HAVE to die. She knows what must be done, but it doesn't mean that she has to like it.[/sp]

No she doesn't but that wasn't the subject. Toriel is a whole another thing.
[sp]Anyone else see like there's a pattern with the major characters/bosses in Undertale?[/sp]
