I've never thought about it before now, but

Again, the one thing that ya gotta remember about Undertale is that Toby made it up as he went along, IIRC he had drawn Flowey before he even knew who [sp]Asreil was[/sp]

It's ok. People have different ways of coping with problems, but having the conflicts is what makes an appealing story. In the real world you can't change the past, only how you deal with it.
[sp]But this isn't the real world, its a video game. Toby left enough shit in with timeline manipulation, and goatkid not actually being dead, that there is enough for him to write himself out of the endings we know of and have the player change the core events of the story.[/sp]
[sp]But at that point what is the purpose of anything? If you can rewrite the whole story, what is the point of having a canon in the first place? Even then, the alternate timelines still exist with their own problems. What makes them any less canon than the one you rewrote?[/sp]
[sp]This is the logic I think toby would have against any major changes (besides effort), but I am now realizing this is exactly what Flowey went through and tormented him. Eventually nothing matters so do whatever the hell you want.[/sp]
