a friend of mine actually made some pretty fair points
valkyries were supposedly responsible for selecting people in battles to die and go to valhalla, which actually works pretty nicely with laying cameras to mark people
and blackbeard often just used the stories about him and his size to ward people away, which also kinda works with having a shield to defend him - alternatively, if he does have a nitro cell as we thought there was always tales and shit of blackbeard having lit fuses in his beard etc

Blackbeard is the attacker so he isn't going to have nitro.
That thing about valkyries is kinda neat though.

That would be really weird then.
I like their designs. But I have two complaints.
Do we really need another Frost? having both Valkyrie and Frost roaming with semi-auto shotguns and presumably nitro makes me want to cry.
And their current names are absolute garbage.
As suggested above, Hollywood and Hammerhead both sound great, but I doubt their names will change this late in the game.
It's weird how everyone else's name is somewhat relevant to their gadget but for these 2 it's like, whatever.

good lord, we do NOT need another frost
I swear, she is literally picked every game, moreso than rook

Frost is a great op tbh. My hope is that having more defensive ops, people will be less dependent on Rook

Rook will always be a 100% pick for defenders for the same reason Thermite and Thatcher are 100% picks for attackers. He is too useful to the entire team to not be picked.
That would be really weird then.
does anyone ever set nitros as a trap though? the sound always gives them away.
they're pretty much exclusively just thrown and detonated - no different from a frag grenade (except you don't have to cook it)
i don't think it's too crazy for an attacker to have a nitro

No, setting them is a waste and I want to punch myself in the face every time a teammate does it.
They should just give him grenades then. Nitro is around to specifically give defenders a way to deal with shields. Attackers don't need that.

I just stick one near a doorway or a wall to deter the enemy from entering the area.

Then it gets Thatcher'd and they walk in.
I think you guys overestimate Thatcher, he isn't 100% pick like Thermite, more like 70%. Even then you can get away with not having a thatcher as long as the other team doesn't have a bandit to do that shitty wall trick
Thatcher is a 100% pick for me lol thats my main offender

Honestly, Bandit doing the wall trick is the biggest threat to Thatcher. I did it earlier and got a Thatcher to waste two EMP's and he didn't even catch my shock box because it doesn't have to stay down long to pop an exo charge. If you don't have a Thatcher, Mute is actually useful, your grenades are going to get ADS'd, you're going to have to take more time to pop Kapkan traps, and it can knock out a camera or two when throwing one from outside. If you watched the pro league yesterday, Thermite and Thatcher were on every attacking team, no exceptions.
That, and Thatcher is just fucking good. The L85A2 is just a monster of an AR.

After watching that damage dropoff video I switched from the AR33 or whatever to it and my play has gotten a lot better. Winning a lot more gun battles.

Not when there is more variety. I've won just as many games without Rook (same with Thatcher+Thermite). They're not a required op and in many situations I don't see the thermite even needing to use his charge.
With more variety comes with more ways to slow attackers down. Rook contributes nothing to the objective. In my opinion, once all the operators are out rook won't be as frequent of a pick.

Rook increases the entire teams survivability though, and when defenders do less damage against AR's in general the extra hit (or two if you're three armor) is invaluable. You also have a better chance of being downed than killed by chest/limb shots wearing Rook armor. Again, it's something all the pros team did yesterday except Excellence and instead they ran an insanely light lineup and roamed and changed position shitton and I don't expect pubs to do that at all. He is also a great anchor in objective rooms.
I understand what you're saying but we have 3 more seasons to go and 3 more ops on each side adding some sort of new utility to the team. There'll be three new ops to completely change the meta, yet we'll still only be allowed to pick a max of 5. I can't see Rook being as frequent of a pick when you'll have a shit ton of new ways to protect the objective. For example, having Frost and Valkyrie will both be great picks at the same time, you're only left with three ops to pick from. Yeah Rook can keep you alive for that extra one or two bullets, but you have many other ops with excellent utilities to chose from with endless different combinations.
I'm definitely in the minority when I say that rook is certainly overrated in certain areas. Yeah, he'll give you a slight edge, but in the end I consider whether or not my team is more aggressive or not. If they are being aggressive, rook might be a better choice. If my team is being a bit more passive, trying to wear the team out or take off time, I'd rather pick an operator that can slow the attacker down. Rook is a great op and easy for anyone to pick up and play. However, I bet if people stopped relying on him so much, they can find just as much success using different combinations and tactics. This will especially be noticeable once all the ops are released.
I don't think attackers should ever get a Nitro Cell. It would be way too strong, attackers having explosives would make the game hectic. Frag grenades are decently balanced because of their pop-time and vulnerability when using them, but nitro cells give attackers a huge advantage if they get them

Honestly, I think this will be figured out by people using certain ops less and eventually not at all. I will be the last person crying when people stop picking Mute and Castle. Kapkan isn't that great of a pick right now because his traps are meh and Tachanka is straight up garbage (maybe buff soon?). As much as I love Jager and Bandit, they're not an every pick. Maybe that means they'll have to be buffed in the future somehow but that is outside of what I'm talking about.

Grenades are balanced by only two operators having access to them. That is also why the FBI recruit is broke. I can see a third one getting them in the future but frags are (hopefully) not going to get added to new operators like crazy.
I think mute and castle are viable. I find both the ops pretty good and I find castle useful depending on the area. I find kapkan to be very good if you study good doorways to hide your traps. I think kapkan is under rated in that regard.
We can all agree tachanka is trash and I hope they make him broke as shit next update.
Siege is $35 on uPlay fyi
Watchdogs is $15 lol
Anyone is playing tactically on competitive ? I am looking for a good group.

went to eb games a few weeks ago and watch dogs was already one of those ubisoft essentials/hot games/classics and was $20 :v:

Yeah, you have a point, but I'm talking about the functionality of the items. There's a reason why attackers get frag grenades in the form they are and not something similar to nitro cells, it would be way too strong for attackers to use if they had something similar to nitro cell. There's no way an attacker would get a nitro cell in their loadout for future OPs

Why? Nitro cells have a significantly shorter throwing range than say, a frag grenade
Attackers have to come to the defenders, not the other way around, if anything Nitro cells would be a bit useless as an attacker sans maybe blowing open a wall quickly

That's actually why it would be too powerful. Breach charges at least take time, giving attackers a nitro is like giving them an Ash breach charge.
c4/nitro has no fuse and can be thrown a short ranges
unless you can do an underarm throw with the frag in r6

Um or you know, they don't have a Thatcher.
