I don't want to start a fight, just pointing one thing out:
his name is still being used on future projects due to honoring him
What you call "honoring," I call licensing.
Clancy also branded several lines of books and video games with his name that are written by other authors, following premises or storylines generally in keeping with Clancy's works. These are sometimes referred to by fans as "apostrophe" books; Clancy did not initially acknowledge that these series were being authored by others; he only thanked the actual authors in the headnotes for their "invaluable contribution to the manuscript" ... In 2008, the French video game manufacturer Ubisoft purchased the use of Clancy's name for an undisclosed sum. It has been used in conjunction with video games and related products such as movies and books.
(Wikipedia) Lots of Tom Clancy stuff, primarily non-books and stuff late in his career, was written using his name on the cover for marketing purposes, whether or not he had anything to do with the material. He earned it by creating such a strong brand for himself.

So the gameplay was legitimate, it was just oversold a bit. Characters definitely aren't as bullet-spongy as they almost seemed to be in the trailer. I'm not entirely sure still if I agree with the new direction, but it works for what it is.

Everybody's talking about Raven Shield, Vegas or Lockdown, but nobody had even mentioned Rogue Spear as the best one? Or even the original one? I must be getting old...

Rogue Spear was amazing. I loved that first mission inside the museum. I wish that map would've been remade for the later games.

Ah, Vegas 2! The game with the most horrible audio bug in the history of videogames. In multiplayer gunsounds start to loop forever in the background and stack up until your ears start to bleed and Ubisoft never bothered to patch it even though they received numerous complaints. Raven Shield on the other hand is one of the best games ever made and it makes me sad that close quarters tactical shooters are pretty much dead nowadays. Having high hopes for the R6: Siege though, because it looks like it's a step in the right direction.
I used to play RSV2 via LAN with my cousin and a friend of his all the time. Even uploaded some gameplay videos, some with random music added to the footage. I miss those days. We can't play anymore since the other guy moved away and my notebook can't handle that shit. The German dub had horrible, stereotypical Russian bad guys.

We would have spent less time being skeptical and more time getting fuckin hype.

Should've just shown a few guys playing a quick round on stage.
I'm so happy that for once a Ubisoft game looks like it was actually displayed at the demo from E3 in the actual gameplay. I'm looking at you, Watch_Dogs.
This. Its really sad how developers are too scared to show actual gameplay these days. does anyone else remember inventing your own gamemodes for RSV? like michael myers and the gladiator arena
you guys really have no idea how the games industry works a staged, tense and representative sample of the game is far more effective than a potentially-boring, unstaged, unrehearsed demo this is why the game is on the show floor, so people can play it and see for themselves
I just stated that I don't like the way developers present their stuff. Doesn't mean I have no idea how the game industry works. Of course its more effective, but I'd enjoy E3 conferences way more if they'd actually play it themselves instead of feeding me annoyingly staged pre-recorded crap. It just wasn't tense or interesting for me because I thought it would probably be WAY different at launch. I wouldn't know about that gameplay video if I hadn't seen it on Facepunch here, so the game being on the show floor afterwards wouldn't have helped.

That's just a personal preference though. To be honest I didn't think they were even going to have a playable demo on the floor, but they did so now I'm happy. [editline]13th June 2014[/editline] The same applies to my thoughts of the Division as well from what we've seen, with all the over-dramatic acting is really hard to tell what is and isn't real.
Look out it's Havoc!

I fucking knew it! I watched that trailer loads of times and I just fucking knew it wasn't pre-rendered yet I got shit for suggesting it wasn't.
'WE'VE FACED THESE GUYS BEFORE'
"OH SHIT GUYS IT'S HAVOK"
Havoc confirmed for Rainbow Six: Siege meme
The new Rainbow looks pretty promising. I hope it has the metric fuckton of guns raven shield has, that was one of my favorite things about it. And if they take Vegas 2's character customization and improve on it I'll be happy.

That actually looks pretty great

Wow it's like Counter Strike but even more tacticool
Wow it's like Counter Strike but even more tacticool
Except its nothing like Counter Strike.
Wow it's like Counter Strike but even more tacticool
If It was you'd be vote banned for standing still defending the hostages. Random T : Stop camping the site noob. Me : But isn't that my objective as the CT?
so which of the RS games on steam (all 4 of them, lolwut) are worth getting? it seems like 3 and vegas are the better ones.
