I've just gotten this game (about 4 hours in it so far) and I always feel like I have no impact in rounds. I'm very rarely getting kills, in a 1v1 scenario I'm almost always the one who ends up dead, and except when it comes to defense I always feel like I never even get a chance to impact the objective in a meaningful way.
Sucks to suck, I guess.
- Information separates a good player from a bad one, always use cameras and drones to find out where the enemy is hiding.
- With this knowledge you can pre-fire their position from around cover, there's also a noticeable peekers advantage that allows you to get away with being aggressive. This is especially effective when looking through a barricaded window.
- Never use the marking that the game prompts you to, it will give away that the camera is watching them, use Z to place a yellow marker instead, or better yet use a microphone to inform your team.
- Don't all attack from one angle, you won't believe how often this happens, and how often the defenders pick up a lot of easy kills.
- Keep an eye on your rear flank, roamers are a huge pain in the ass, communicate with your team to handle them.
- On defense you need to steer clear from windows, they are the number one way in which you will be killed unknowingly. (Unless the enemy team doesn't know you're in the room, in which case you might get a cheeky kill.)
- Also regarding windows, certain maps during daytime have horrible vision obscuring lighting, learning what maps do this is useful to obscuring your character. This can work both ways, with the interior being too dark, and looking out the windows being too bright.
- Use the cameras to scout out the attackers angle.
- Make sure you cover every way onto the objective, roof, doorways, windows.
- Don't get too far away from the objective unless you're roaming, you will need to get back there quickly if your team needs help.
- If you get spotted by a drone, MOVE to another position, the entire enemy team knows where you are.
- Don't be afraid to be aggressive sometimes, it's the last thing an attacking team expects.
- Try to find stupid cheesy angles to watch entrances from, roof hatches, destroyed floors, behind vision obscuring cover etc. This is the best way to nullify peekers advantage.

learn the layout of every map and learn where every camera is
this will make you 10x better very fast
I probably somehow found a glitch, I was playing Buck and using a semi-auto rifle.
Somehow with the reloading things and switching weapons managed me to have 37 bullets ready to fire in a single magazine. Wait, what?! The rifle always had a max of 21 bullets in it's magazine. So i somehow did that and could fire 37 rounds. Interesting glitch, but no idea how i did that.
I tried finding it out how i did, but no success.
Have they fixes the issue with connecting to matches and what not yet?
Patch tomorrow.

Wow, nice list of fixes.

Thank. God.
Now I wish they would just remove defenders being able to go outside full stop, things would be basically perfect.

As a designer I really like that they went to the effort of showing the changes on each individual instance rather than just saying 'changed spawns'
really nice little touch
Disappointed at zero operator changes but still a great patch. Love the spawn change diagrams.
Really looking forward to the next patch, hopefully this week but I'm guessing it will be next.
Also, happy I was wrong and it came this week. :D
holy crap imagine if an attacker had access to this shit

maybe there'd be a set place on each map you had to place it to ensure full coverage, but if you got it in and got to a safe distance it just turns the building into a blistering kill zone of maximum fuck

I also had a similar glitch.
I had 21 bullets in an 870 , but the bullet count was reset to 8 at the next round .
"The ADS animation sometimes gets corrupted when shield-wielding Operators aim. – FIXED"
I'm surprised they fixed something this minor, I noticed the animation kinda repeated during ADS.
How to fix Thatcher:
Significantly reduce the vertical range of EMPs. IMO they should not work on ceilings or rooftops.
Reduce horizonal range exponentially for each wall it passes. So then emping won't take out an entire two rooms worth of gadgets and forces players to throw the emp inside the room to get the most benefit
The EMP needs to be nerfed, but I still think everyone is giving it more credit than what it does
Just make Bandit's batteries immune. They're not electronics, they don't have a circuit board, they shouldn't be disabled by an EMP. That also increases Twitch's usefulness.
For being batteries, they sure do make a loud humming noise

I feel like this guy is just making a guess about something super obvious so he can be like "LOOK GUYS I WAS RIGHT." Like no fucking shit the Brazilian CTU is going to be BOPE and their map is going to be in a favela.
Fucked up a 1v5 clutch moment a while ago before the patch.

Me and a guy 2v5d twice in a row in two different teams
Speaking of, what are your guys top 3 attackers/defenders?
Attackers: Glaz, Blitz, Sledge
Defenders: Frost, Bandit, Jager
Attackers: Twitch, Thermite, Blitz
Defenders: Jaeger, Rook, Castle
Favorite overall is Jaeger. I find this shotgun to be weak but the 416C is one of my favorite guns in the game and I like his ADS. If I could get the M1014 from Castle on him I'd basically play no one else.
Jager has been becoming more of my go-to defender than Frost lately.
Whenever I'm defending I always take the lighter armour classes like Bandit Jaeger or Pulse. I'm much better off being mobile than sitting in one position for defense, I really never do well whenever I sit around. Attacking, I always take Thermite or Thatcher and if those are taken I will gladly take Fuze because his weapons are powerful and fun to use.

Atk: Sledge, Fuze, Montagne
Def: Castle, Rook, Frost

Ash, Fuze, and Sledge

Rook, Castle, and Smoke.
Man some people in this game have the worst spacial awareness. like they'll get shot at and have no idea where it came from or they'll crouch against a doorway with their back to it

Going by my actual stats and time played as each:
http://rainbow6.ubi.com/siege/en-US/player-activities/index.aspx
A: Thatcher, Blitz, Thermite
D: Mute, Rook, Jager
[editline]1st March 2016[/editline]
Also turns out my Tachanka W/L ratio is 1.29. Not bad considering that I've said that I usually pick him for tie breaking games.

I played with a pulse who was doing a 1v2 trying to win... they pulled out their sensor after we were giving precise locations of the other two.
He was killed as soon as the sensor was brought up to his face. We all collectively went "What the fuck dude"
the trick with fuze is to place the cluster charge near the top of the window for maximum damage, i got like 4 kills with that trick lol
