Whether or not you can tune the car depends on the series. I'm pretty sure both Rookie series have fixed setups, so there's nothing you can do to the car.
The whole "ovals!!! murica!!!" joke gets tiring if you've been a fan of motorsports for longer than a year. Typically it's said by those who lack a good solid understanding of what it takes to race on one, so I apologize if I type-cast you that way.
Well, I can see easily how I struck a nerve there, so no need to apologize. As for the rest, you won this argument. I realize I was not very well informed about the very early days of motor racing. I was not aware that it really is as old as the automobile itself. Also, it obviously makes sense that ovals were much better suited for testing the limits of the technology of those days, which would have helped its development greatly. And yes, even to this German-born man here, the Indy 500 was one of the first race series he ever heard of.

If I get out of the rookie series, do I need to purchase content to continue? Or do I then go onto racing in a D-license street stock series?
i think the carb cup can be an enjoyable break from the more serious official racing to get out of rookies faster start from the pit and dont race at peak times as unless you have a very good qualify time you will be in the bottom split with the shitlords, also concentrate on having clean races rather than racing and let people pass, it damages your irating but you can get out of rookies in a couple of races once your into sk or late model you dont really have to worry about incidents you can do legends or keep racing rookie street stock, people suggest legends as a place to learn setups but imo they are impossible to drive. i bought all the class d oval cars and most of the tracks required, i mostly race the SK and occasionally the late model, the K&N national just seems like a faster street stock in terms of the quality of racing you get there as thats what most people move into you can see stats for participation in each series at this link http://www.iracer.info/

I know on the road side of things there's a few car/track combinations that I can race without buying anything, but that isn't too common. If you want to race a D class series every week chances are you're going to have to start buying things.
Oh, and something comical that happened during the last race: my mum stays in my guest bedroom since she sold her house and until getting a new one. She asked if I wanted anything to eat right before that first race started and I quickly yelled back that I do, but would get it myself as soon as the race was over. Well, with two laps left to go my phone lit up and I took my eyes off the screen for a split second to see who it was - and noticed there was someone standing behind me in my peripheral vision. My mum had apparently been watching me for 12 laps, saw me almost lose control off of a love tap from a passing opponent and said it was pretty fun to watch a simulated NASCAR race. Is there a market for spectator simulation? I don't know, but for at least one mum out there, there is :v:

if you watch any iracing on twitch you have probably seen this, iirc its coming at the start of s3

Once you do that, you'll be able to participate in C class Street Stocks. Do 4 Official races (either races or time trials) when it's on a free track (next is USA International on the week of July 21st, with Lanier and South Boston the following two weeks, and then Charlotte first week of September) while maintaining that 4.0 and you'll be promoted to C without having to buy a single thing. Not sure if the promotion is instant or if it's on a "Promotion day", but there you have it.
forget legends oval, i remember legends road being a rookie series (i don't think it still is??)
Yep, still is. Also, haven't actually done a race in iRacing in quite a while, first race back went about as well as I could have hoped: Started 14th (of 16) as I didn't do qualifying, finished 4th, mostly due to wrecks, but I managed a couple of passes, as well.
That settles it, I'll renew my iRacing subscription as soon as I can afford this.
Just remember that if iRacing was expensive before, think again. The Nurnburgring will be $15 for the GP track and $15 for the Nordschnitzel (I can't spell the actual name don't judge me) and then you can run both combined.

I watch empty box's videos from time to time, and loads of other video game let's plays. Then there is twitch, obviously there's a market for spectating video games.
I'm not sure if he does it anymore but i loved watching the NordgarTV iracing streams, he would put up a hosted session with a random track/car then live stream it on twitch/hitbox with himself commentating over the race. Would get around 1-2k people always watching, was a lot of fun to be in. I got to be apart of this beautiful wreck in the 22 :v:
there's a nascar sanctioned iracing world championship and there's another championship for the williams f1, i think they're just off season at the moment. dale earnhart jr won one year if i remember right
I feel like I've accidentally got myself hyped up for a dead series, the last Radical SR8 race didn't go official and only had 2 drivers Gonna leave it for tonight and see how many people sign up for the next session, no point warming up if it's a 3 man race

I think he's done the Pro Race of Champions, but that's a special event with only (as far as I can remember) real-world professional drivers racing in the sim.

i can see why its not popular, theres no popular progression path like skippy to star mazda for example
I've got the star mazda but I don't find it fun, thing is basically on rails and unless you spend the entire week perfecting a setup for it you've got no chance of winning top split races
has anyone noticed sparkling pixels around the steering wheel and rollcage in iracing? i dont think its my gpu because its only in iracing and only around cockpit objects plus if i turn fxaa on its a lot less distracting
One thing about the DFGT is that when it gets older, it gets louder. Playing Dirt Rally really shows its age. I basically have to turn off the suspension FFB effect entirely. I wish there was a way to just get rid of the gravel/surface vibration, but it seems to be tied to the overall suspension effects. Do you need to get accepted to the FP dirt league or something? Nothing happens when I press it ingame. Requested permission to join with name "ozz"
