It is dynamic though. Different parts of the song play depending on what part of the track you're on. There's other factors too, like what lap it is, what position you're in, how fast you're going, etc.
I know the music ingame is dynamic, but that clip is not playing the music dynamically, it's playing the combined track. 58 seconds in is the telltale mark, where the music should have shifted to the second "part" of the track, but instead continues the second stage of the first part and then goes into the third stage of the first part. I've played so much NFS3 that I know exactly when the music should change and to which part of the track lol
Rather unfortunate that it's not actually dynamic in that clip though. Also good lord I forgot how terrible the PC UI was. PSX version of the game in general is vastly superior, aside from an inability to play as the police (instead we got the NPC Interceptors and their unique and somewhat uncomfortable sirens, not to mention the banging bronze/gold Diablo interceptor).
High Stakes was way better on PSX too. Pc version did get all the hot pursuit tracks though, so it had that going for it
PSX High Stakes looks better in a lot of ways, especially when it comes to the cop cars having proper variation per country and much better effects for their lights, but the PC version had it's own fun. The most annoying part, really, is that the PC version is basically the PC version of NFS3 with the new tracks and cars, but with the bonus of having actual car interiors.
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/mtb9munu3zufa6u/20161119_184720.jpg[/t] i'm not mentally prepared for this shit
Protip for getting the Subaru Brat Horizon Edition in H3 without doing the stupid 20 playground games; hop into a private freeroam lobby with a friend and do Infected and just run into each other. Got the Brat in like 15 minutes or so
That's the problem, having a friend with H3 :(
i sorta enjoy the playground games, so i just drive my 1000hp lancer in A class and 1500hp bronco in S class.
Just got a g27 for $100. Damn I feel lucky
That is damn lucky. [editline]20th November 2016[/editline] Are there any games like the Wangan Midnight arcade games, but for PC?
The sad part is I can't really use it with my current desk. The way that my desk is is that there's a rounded edge with a half inch piece of wood.
we should keep doing POTW

Eventually I got a stand for it, I haven't looked back, it folds up so I can put it away when I'm not using it and it means I don't risk throwing everything off the rickety table it clamped to

I'm literally stomping on the pedals
Been getting back into playing race sims this weekend. Found my disc copy of GT Legends, forgot how fun it is, although it doesn't seem to pick up 5, 6 and R on my shifter, which isn't a huge problem as alot of the cars have only 4 gears. Also picked up Project Cars, I'm enjoying it so far. [editline]20th November 2016[/editline]
I have a stand for it too but instead of my leg actually stretching out.. I'm literally stomping on the pedals
I think that's nearly unavoidable if you're playing at a PC desk. My PC is in my living room with a a TV stand (I'm a bit of casual). I also spent a lot of time experimenting with all the chairs in my house to find one that works well. Ikea Poang with a pillow behind my back for a more upright position does alright, on the lower angle on my stand in front of the screen in my living room I normally just stick the poang on the cushion on the floor with a footstool to behind to hold it up
i started using a poang when i played iracing in vr a lot, its a pretty good solution but even with a pillow the leanback is a bit much so that if you have a wheel with a big base like the t500 it obstructs a lot of your monitor i think the folding play seat looks like a very low cost and convenient setup, i never got one thought because i kept thinking id get a 80/20 kit

Arms and legs can stretch out but the only problem is what I said before about it not clamping to my desk.
I just got back into NFS 2015 to try to finish it... but I can't. It really is no exaggeration to say that the handling and physics are just terrible. It's almost impossible to decently drive any fast car because the handling is so vague, the AI are just dreadful, and attempting to drift is incredibly stressful. I have gotten more pleasure out of drifting around in Forza 6 with simulation settings turned on, than I have from a game which has drifting as one of its key selling points.
we should talk about project gotham racing
I never knew that basically each turbo was unique, that's amazing. Also, the engine sounds in general. How is it that we had those amazing sounds, unique and realistic to each car, in an arcade racing game from 2007, yet these sounds are meant to be passable for what's supposed to be a simulator in 2013? Listen to that horrendous "McLaren F1" at the start. It doesn't even remotely sound like a V12. EDIT: And the 2017 version is almost just as bad. These are the new sounds... still sounds horrific and there's no gear shift sound, just a cut to the lower RPM. There's also the amazing sense of speed that PGR had but that's another story for another day.
we should keep doing POTW
Well considering whoever was organising it last just fucked off for whatever reason, how about I start the new one. Photo of the Week (any game eligible), post your submissions here by Sunday the 27th, 11:59PM AEST Theme: Photo must include balloons My submission: [t]http://www.forzamotorsport.net/Handlers/GetPhoto.ashx?game=fh3&id=10235943&full=true[/t]
This is probably my best one with balloons so this will be my POTW entry: [t]https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5344/31002947352_b1c16c1011_o.png[/t]
I can put up the PoTW poll for the last batch of entries tomorrow if we want, would be a shame to let the old entries go to waste
I can put up the PoTW poll for the last batch of entries tomorrow if we want, would be a shame to let the old entries go to waste
That would be appreciated, thanks

Damn i miss this game, especially the original Xbox ones, wasting time on the game and on the arcade. Have you guys played the real original PGR, Metropolis Street Racer for Dreamcast?

But yes, the sound is still underwhelming; you wouldn't think that it can put out more than 700hp. The dreadful audio work (or lack thereof) for the shifting is also massively disappointing. Project CARS pisses me off for so many reasons, but I will admit that it probably has the best car sounds of any motorsports game.
i only played 3 and 4 so far PGR3 is quite impressive, the graphics even stayed fresh until now, it's been 11 years
You can say that again. Both Xbox 360 PGRs were crazy graphically. All they need is a res boost and maybe some more motion blur samples and they could pass for a current gen game. I recommend giving a try on the first ones, they are pretty good on the sim part, as i recall, especially 2. Now Metropolis is more arcade like but enjoyable. Has anyone played some racing games on the Dreamcast? I wish we had a recent Shutokou Battle with the approach of the third game, more simulator like than arcade
