I found the ac adapter for my wheel, so I got a chance to play Seb Loeb Rally Evo. When it works, it's brilliant. The cars handling feels pretty good (although I only managed to try a couple of cars), the FFB feels natural, the stages are really nice and the car selection is nice. But it's marred by technical issues. You can only change the graphics settings in the launcher. It consistently crashes a few stages in with the graphics set to anything above pauper settings even though it seems to run fine until then. Before I'd even really touched the graphics settings I was getting a regular crash that was solved by switching from 1280x768 to 720. Which brought on another issue where steam would think the game was still running after closing or crashing, this was caused lwemon.exe running, even though I no longer use the old logitech profiler and have had it disabled on startup since forever, I'm guessing the game is launching it, but I'm not really sure. I got around this by just renaming the exe (I was too lazy to uninstall it). Starting up the game I would then have to rebind the throttle and brake. To the eye this doesn't appear to change any of the bindings in the settings screen, but if I don't rebind them when I let off the throttle the front brakes would jam on, locking the front wheels but without lighting up the brake lights. So then I'd do a couple of stages and it crashes again. In the end I just played Dirt Rally, which is a pity because when it works, it works well. The car selection is good, I love the starting 106 Rallye. The stages that it has over Dirt are nice too, particularly Sanremo. And the career looks like there's a lot of content, that makes a bit more of buying and owning the cars similar to Forza or Gran Turismo. It makes me excited for a Dirt Rally 2 though, I'd be happy enough if they just added a few extra cars (more classics please) and a few extra locations, but i'm really hoping we can get longer stages.
Dirt Rally definitely needs more stages over anything else. And a better career mode too; I'm on Masters at the moment, but the grind is incredibly boring.
as awesome as maxitune is, there's just one problem you need internet connection to play this game bc this game uses cloud saving for all your progress, if the internet is having some issues, you're stuck with a stock car
Dirt showdown is free for a limited time
It's also very bad
does assetto corsa not have softlock?
Ordered a g920, cant wait to try it out with dirt and the forza games. :joy:
Ordered a g920, cant wait to try it out with dirt and the forza games. :joy:
I've got one of those. Before it arrives try and find a chair that won't move when you push on the pedals. The brake pedal has a rubber stopper near the end meaning you need a fair amount of force behind it to reach full travel. It took a while for me to get used to it, but I now struggle going back to other pedals. If you do struggle, Dirt Rally does have an option for pedal saturation Forza call it outside deadzone. Forza Motorsport 6 also has some really horrible default settings for FFB. I'd suggest knocking all the values down by half and working from there.

It takes ~20 minutes and voids your warranty but I couldn't brake 100% without literally standing on the pedal. Whoever thought that stopper was a good idea can go fuck themselves. Finally started playing DiRT rally and god damn is it intense. I start sweating hard just fighting the wheel after 2-3 races. Also what's a good button for the handbrake on the g920. Its default is B button but when you're mid turn it doesn't work too well
As I said once I got used to it and had a chair that wouldn't slide around, I quite like it. I'm not constantly locking up the fronts. But I do think it was a bad choice considering for a lot of xbox players it's probably their first wheel. When my mate comes round and has a go he hates it compared to my old dfgt I gave him In Dirt I did for a time use a joystick for handbrake but I've got it bound back onto the wheel, with it on the wheel I basically don't use it. The only car i find myself constantly wanting to use the handbrake is the Mini. As it happens I'm finally starting to beat the AI on a more regular basis on stages that aren't Finland. I think I was into Professionals before I even came first on a single stage

It doesn't help that the steering on the Mini is a bit dead in middle, where down a straight you can wobble the wheel without much happening. You have to wind it much more than you do for other cars. The mini fucks me over in pretty much every hairpin, nowadays I just slow down and drive around when I'm using it. Square corners often mess me up too

Square corners often mess me up too
Yeah, the Mini and the Lancia Fulvia understeer like crazy. The very first time I drove the Mini, I forgot that it isn't like Dirt 3 where the old cars still braked very strongly, and thus slid straight into a canyon wall in Greece while wondering if I didn't forget to assign the brakes in the settings. Just remember, for FWD cars in hairpins, tapping the handbrake once or twice while steering into the hairpin helps a lot in FWD cars. Just keep practising it until you can keep up a nice speed throughout the hairpins without understeering yourself off the side of the road. In other news, I finally decided to replace that old Sidewinder wheel I had, and bought a G27 a few weeks ago. While it is making me a bit less consistent, as I couldn't stop smacking the RS200 into a set of trees during that Wales daily a few days ago, most cars do handle one hell of a lot more fluid with it than compared to that old non Force Feedback wheel I used before. And most notably with the Kit Cars. While I was already pretty quick on those Greece stages with those car with my old wheel, I managed to beat the times set on my old Sidewinder by multiple seconds on my first attempt with the G27. The weekly with it went very well too, although I almost choked massively on the final stage by understeering into a ditch next to a hairpin. Okay, I'm starting to have serious centring issues with my G27. It tries to centre a few degrees to the left and after a bit of racing in pCars, it gets worse, once even to the point that it centred at 90 degrees. Anyone know about this?
i wish forza could temporarily bump up graphics settings in photo mode, that low lod bush on the right just killed this photo
I already told you it's the encoder wheel [editline]15th January 2017[/editline] If you know someone with a 3d printer they can probably print a replacement https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Logitech+G27+Optical+Encoder+Replacement/42113

The blizzard mountain stars with skill point requirements are slowly becoming my least favorite ones. The game fucks over skill chains in so many ways, it is getting aggrevating. The amount of times the game did not register a 10 second drift and just stopped the chain is idiotic. Or just making an AI driver stop completely and stay in the middle of the circuit the whole race so it's impossible to not hit him and lose the streak.

I don't want to swap to a car I'm only using to do some bullshit jump

Combined with the game having a pathetic limit for maximum tyre smoke allowed anyways, is quite saddening. [editline]17th January 2017[/editline] Means that I can't do this with the FPV GT F (also because it sounds rubbish in-game, too):
(also because it sounds rubbish in-game, too)
Is there a car in FH3 that sounds closer to the real Falcon? Because I like the Falcons so I could swap the sounds with a mod next time I play.
Is there a car in FH3 that sounds closer to the real Falcon? [editline]17th January 2017[/editline] ... and I just realised that FH3 doesn't have the 2016 Mustang GT, only the Shelby GT350R (which actually does have a different crank configuration, firing order and exhaust system, so don't use that). I'm going to give the 2013 Shelby GT500 a spin, to see how that sounds. [editline]17th January 2017[/editline] The GT500 sounds just as depressing as the FPV GT F, so don't use that. It's weird because FM6 has the 2016 Mustang GT and I think it sounds quite accurate

It's weird because FM6 has the 2016 Mustang GT and I think it sounds quite accurate
According to the files, the two 2015 Falcons are both using the 2007 Shelby GT500 sound (I'm guessing the 2007 one is what provides the audio for the 2013 GT500): <Engine mediaName="FOR_FalconGTF_15" engineName="SHE_GT500_07" /> <Engine mediaName="FOR_FalconUte_14" engineName="FOR_MustangGT_15" /> <Engine mediaName="FOR_FalconXR8_15" engineName="SHE_GT500_07" /> It says the Falcon Ute is using still-present 2015 Mustang GT sounds, so I'll give that a whirl. If not, I quite like the sound of the Mercedes SLR and it has a great supercharger sound, so even if it's not really accurate I'll be using that audio for the GTF.
How much trouble would it be to get a complete dump of the engine audio assignments? I'm interested in seeing how much stuff is shared.
How much trouble would it be to get a complete dump of the engine audio assignments? I'm interested in seeing how much stuff is shared.
The answer is quite a lot. I don't fully understand how the file works, for example some cars have extra sections where they're assigned specific accel/decel sounds for some reason (but changing them has seemingly no effect), and some cars are missing entirely from the list but adding them with an engine name changes it as you would expect. http://pastebin.com/hFpQxQrV Bear in mind that some FM6/previous game leftovers are included in this file. Don't take anything to point towards upcoming DLC. EDIT: What's also weird is the amount of mistakes. For example, two Hondas both using a Civic sound isn't the end of the world. What IS weird is that some cars use another cars' sounds, when their own sound file goes unused. For example, the R34 GT-R uses the Toyota Supra sound which is completely wrong, yet there's a .bank file for the R34 itself that sounds perfect. I assigned it back to the R34 and it sounds great in game. There must be a weird reason why the devs haven't fixed it, because giving the R34 its sound back was literally a 1 line edit in that XML file.
Have Turn 10 said anything about the leak?
Other than stuff like "the wrong update has been removed, players should reupdate the game", nope.
does it run better? people were claiming the drm was a big factor in the poor performance
