ive managed to get rid of the stuttering by setting the process priority to low and setting the core affinity so core 0 is disabled, thanks for the help tho
Gonna host an Assetto trackday on Sunday @ 1300 GMT. Probably mess around with the new track + Quattro (Porsches if people have em?) an stuff. It's overdue.
Will be on discord on the day:

Horizon 2 had weird flip physics like this too, I had one time where my car was on its nose slowly rotating until the game gave up and just reset me. It's strange because Motorsport behaves pretty fine when you flip but Horizon seems to make you just keep going and going.
So I have an itch for playing a Midnight Club 3/Need For Speed Underground-type game, with lots of car customisation and street racing. Are there any current games that do that well? Or am I better off just buying used copies of the classics?
Think someone made a discord server for the thread a while back - Anyone got the link for it? Would be good to have voip.
That'll do, adding it in

I've noticed that I have to keep most Toyotas fairly stock. My 2jz twin turbo celica never had traction ever, my fully upgraded VVT ae86 reached 210+ mph with no sweat. Swaps in this game are so funky.

Have you been upgrading tires too?
I had a LS swapped Miata that was fairly controllable once you adjusted the gear lengths a bit and kind of feathered it on launches on the racing tires.
Even though upgrading the tires is a pretty surefire way to make sure your car is way outclassed in FH3, it's still good for cruising.

NFSU2 works on Windows 10 and there's a texture mod out there that makes it look pretty decent in motion. Carbon might also be on PC but I found it underwhelming when it came out

I thought the driving felt better in NFS:C than NFSU2
The body kits were a little less silly too, especially with the thing where you can sculpt your own kits

That's actually the wrong link, I've updated my post with the correct one

About 90% sure I did on the Celica, since I believe you can do the horizon tires on it. I have found though that I have a lot more fun in races with the difficulty cranked in A class and below so a fully built stock motor is perfect for the way I like to play.
is there a racing game that can customize cars like in forza 2?

Really? It felt to me that the physics in NSFU2 were at least a little bit based in reality, while in Carbon it was just the typical NFS railroad experience

I dunno, I just remember in NFSU 2 and Most Wanted you couldn't drift without scrubbing almost all of your speed, while Carbon was a bit more fun in that regard.
Customizing radio in FH3 is the bees tits. This is gonna be the most lit not house party ever.

Horizon 3?
Horizon 3?
i was about to suggest this but then saw
So I'm looking for a good ass driving game on pc and I figure this is the thread to ask. I want a game with a fantastic first-person mode, super deep car customization (appearance wise), a large open world, and mod support isn't a must but it's a big selling point for me but I can live without that. I'm thinking about Forza Horizon 3, but I'd like to hear if there are any alternatives (or maybe if that game is bad and I haven't heard). I'm totally fine with buying something older too, I dont need the latest shit, but I have a pc that can handle the fanciest game you can throw at it, so anything will be fine.
I don't think there's much else that fits those guidelines except Horizon 3.
I mean NFS 2015 has dope car customization and an open world, but it doesn't have an interior view and the physics are garbage.
Street Legal Racing has hella mod support, pretty much the best customization of any game (you can actually strip the engine apart and replace individual components, or replace the engine with whatever engine you want from something else, replace bumpers/lights/windows/etc) and a small but open map, but the graphics are awful and the physics even worse. It is admittedly fun buying a scrap car and fixing it piece by piece though.

It's probably not exactly what you had in mind, but BeamNG is getting to be pretty fun as far as customization goes. It's always fun to take some 90's shitbox and turn it in to a rally car.
There's quite a lot of mods available for it as well, and they're very easy to install.
On the downside, it's more of a driving/physics simulator than a racing game, so the default missions are limited to time trials for the most part, although there's plenty of usermade multi-car races.

Oh yeah I play the hell out of Beam MG. It's fun as hell
Haha holy shit. In FM6, the Tankpool Mercedes racing truck is banned from competing in single-class online races (it's so heavy that everything else just bounces off of it - but it does have its own category to race in, though) but I've just discovered that you can race it in the ABC's category. Normally online races may as well be bumper cars, but I've never seen everyone be so frightened of colliding with me! Haha
Imagine this several tonne proper truck, racing against MX-5s

I want racing trucks in horizon 3, that would be tonnes of fun
Does anyone know of any current (like released in the past 12 months) racing games featuring DTM and Super GT GT500 cars? Eg Forza 4 had some of them (a Mercedes DTM, plus then-current Super GT and some historical Super GT) but Forza 6 literally only has the Nissan GT-R GT500 car.
Forza 6 actually misses out on a lot of categories that 4 had eg GT1 and GT2, but of course those categories are now defunct.

Project CARS 2 would be amazing if it featured the trifecta of premiere touring car racing - Australian (V8) Supercars, DTM and Super GT.

There's an MRAP if you want to just push people around

no racing trucks yet tho

The truck is so much fun. But highlights one of the dumbest things in Forza 6, why the fuck can't you setup custom single make races? There's a number of cars that don't really have any contemporaries so if you want to race them you have to race stuff from completely different classes that would never run on a track against eachother
