also, hi don!

Yes, that would be me. That avatar is even older than my S2 license :v
The sim racer I play most often is iRacing. Don't own Project CARS myself, but I've tried it a few times on my brother's computer and I'll probably pick that up when I have the cash.
Here's a few of my cars in iRacing.

If it's not apparent, I primarily do ovals. I need to get way more practice at road racing before I even consider entering any events.
Oh, and if any of you decide to try iRacing, download a program called Trading Paints. It's what lets you use and see custom paints.

Nice car. Is it hard to handle as stock, or would it be a completely different and hard experience for someone who's only driven FF with as much as 60hp? I look at the few cars like yours on sale in my country, and think "damn this would be a really nice and different car to own" but at the same time think it would be a huge handful whenever I felt like accelerating a bit...
Not really, the KA24 doesn't actually put out all that much power
Enough to kick the back end out if you play with the handbrake or clutch kick it but not enough to make regular driving hard or anything.
Does anyone else here own a Fanatec wheel? Mine's giving me some strange errors and doesn't seem to work :(

My (apparently somewhat exotic) 911 Turbo S Wheel has been serving me fine for years. I haven't used it much, but it has survived a transport across Europe in a package, being dropped once or twice, and sitting in a horribly dusty place for months at a time.
I got it used from a friend at Fanatec - it had been returned as a warranty case and replaced by a new one, so he fixed it and gave it to me as a birthday gift about 5 years ago.
What is the problem you're having? I could ask my friend if it's a common warranty case - why that won't solve the problem, it might help shed some light on the issue.

what kinda strange errors?
mine has gone absolute haywire and just vibrates and nothing works.
After playing AC you just can't go back to Gran Turismo, ever.
Also, regarding AC lacking SP content and SP racing in general: I can't stand it. Why play against AI when you can race with real people? I just can't get into SP racing, unless it's hotlapping (which I usually do online as well) or rally. I just personally can't get into it at all.
Also I hope Dirt Rally gets some online love similar to Dirt 3 (minus the gymkhana. Fuck the gymkhana)

It will just give codemasters time.

It would be fun too to have a few rounds of Rallycross organized too when that releases for Dirt Rally.
I bought AC today (the AC + Dream Pack 1 sale) and I'm really satisfied with the game. The singleplayer doesn't provide much outside of hotlapping but that's what I typically enjoy the most anyway. There are enough mods to keep me busy for a while and goddamn I love the Lotus F1 car on Vallelunga
id suggest a t300RS if you can find one, it has better ffb than the g27 and is a more modular system so its easy to upgrade, tbh one reason i say that is im salty that my g27 failed in less than 2 weeks i ended up buying a t500rs pedals and ferrari wheel from some guy on the iracing forums, if i can ever be bothered i might try fixing the g27 encoder wheel or maybe take it back to pc-world
Couldn't decide between Project Cars and AC, but either one would probably not be a lot of fun until I get a wheel, so I ended up buying BeamNG instead. Liking it a lot so far.

The modding is what's really got me interested in AC. It's really easy to slap together some geometry in Blender and convert it into a working track.
everything but formula 1/a/lotus is fine on a pad in pcars, never tried AC, i thought about picking it up during the steam sale but it seems a waste since i got into iracing
[editline]20th June 2015[/editline]
i dont get that though, surely the main draw of AC over pcars is it has a bigger percentage of laser scanned tracks
rFactor 2 looks a lot better in still shots than it does in motion.

When I fire up the wheel, only the top segment of the middle character on the little screen comes on, the wheel doesn't do the thing where it spins to calibrate, but the fans do turn on. Then it just sits there and doesn't do anything, and the system won't read anything from the wheel.

The main draw to Assetto Corsa over Project CARS is that AC drives and feels way better. Assetto Corsa is good at basically everything that Project CARS isn't.
if you sign up to the iracing news letter you can win a thrustmaster t300rs
[editline]20th June 2015[/editline]
have you tried the ffb tweak for project cars?

Welp. Good thing this was a hosted race. I'm the blue 93 car.

Except AI, they both leave much to be desired.
do you enter the carb cup? every race has a crash like that, i dont get how people suck so hard especially on tracks like daytona and talladega
Every Vision GT car they release keeps getting more and more ridiculous.
It's just going to be F-Zero by the time they're finished :v:

I do sometimes. I rarely get a chance to finish though. :v: The only way to survive is to qualify.
i want fantasy cars to go
I'm fine with them being separate, but it sucks when you look at the leaderboards for the week and the top spots are held by Nissan 2020s. I wish they were limited to time trials/VGT only races.
They shit all over online lobbies too, would be fine if it was limited like the Ferrari F1 cars

I like that they exist (in the game) but...
I'd honestly prefer if they did anything else instead of this.

When I race Carb Cup I usually either get wrecked out, or finish between 5th and 10th. It's hilarious how seriously some people take it, too, even though it doesn't count for anything.
Figure this would be the place to talk about The Crew? Not a sim game but since the thread is long dead and it'd be great to get some competent people to play with.
Damn I got fucking destroyed :v:

Well, I think plenty of us talked about Forza Horizon and such in the last thread, so why not. It's more of a "racing general thread" than what the title suggests.

contact fanatec, they'll probably tell you you need a new main cable.
