contact fanatec, they'll probably tell you you need a new main cable.
Like a main power cable? Or something else?
I might just take it apart and fix it if it's a wiring thing, I've got a fancy Snap-On butane solder/torch that I'm itching to try lol

do you still have warranty? if yes don't.
if you don't, well give it a go, but talk to them first anyway.
It's a cable that goes from the base of the wheel up through the middle of the wheel, easy enough to replace. if it's not that it can be your base PCB or wheel PCB is what they claim.
I've replaced all three of these and sadly it didn't fix mine.
hm, I guess I'll send em an email
What's the issue with yours?
not used my wheel in a while think i'll crack it out tomorrow for some sunday driving, sadly my iracing expired today and i'm poor af so that's off the cards
how's dirt rally doing with wheels now? is the annoying wheel animation still there? does it have more than 180 degrees rotation (or even better can you turn it off entirely) yet?
Project CARS 1.4 made big changes to the force feedback. It’s still terrible, but the updated force feedback + default settings are a new record of terrible. The FFB fix mod doesn’t seem to work anymore either. Or at least, it makes very little difference.
However, after hours of experimenting I finally stumbled across settings that felt good enough. I turned tire force down to 80, but raised the Soft Clip (Half) to 5.50, and the Soft Clip (Full) to 5.0. This made a humongous difference and with the default FFB files I was able to get something that felt at least as good as it did before, if not better.
I also played some races online for the first time in Project CARS. The netcode seems to be at least as bad as Assetto Corsa, possibly worse. I also have a huge issue with situational awareness in Project CARS that I don’t have in iRacing or Assetto. In iRacing you have a huge and super wide angle virtual mirror, and Assetto has the, so good it should be vanilla and in every racing game ever, Helicorsa app.
Project CARS has a virtual mirror, but its really small and doesn’t have quite the field of view of iRacing. It doesn’t even do the arrows pointing towards nearby cars like vanilla Assetto Corsa or GRID Autosport. With the lack of tools for SA, it’s very hard to keep track of what people are doing online and collisions are far more frequent than in my experience with AC.
I think people in Project CARS are generally worse drivers too.

Welp. Good thing this was a hosted race. I'm the blue 93 car.
reminds me of mini-record I did long time ago

So I'm gonna just give an opinion a lot of ya'll will disagree with here– I really like the Forza Horizon games, if only because they feel like spiritual successors to Need for Speed Most Wanted and Carbon, minus car chases and plus sim racing aspects.
Do the fine folks of Facepunch have a Forza crew?
Well, I think plenty of us talked about Forza Horizon and such in the last thread, so why not. It's more of a "racing general thread" than what the title suggests.
In that case, I guess it's fine to talk about Horizon 2 then.
In Horizon 2, I have been tuning a S30Z with a top speed of 334kmh(207mph). There is a problem however, the car is almost uncontrollable at high speed. I've tried lowering car height, having a negative camber but the car is still barely controllable. Any tips?

Forza Horizon is awesome though. The only reason I'm not playing Forza Horizon 2 is because I don't have an Xbox One.

similar to yours, except my whole wheel vibrates constantly along with doing nothing.

why do you think we'll disagree? Horizon was honestly pretty good for an "arcade" racer. Not really that arcady anyway, felt a lot better than most of the big sim racers too. Horizon 2 looks extremely good, but I can't afford an xbone.

also we should like, get a weekly race or something going in like AC or PCARS or something.
I'd be down for a weekly time trial kinda thing? Not sure in what game though, race 07 / gsc / rfactor are all cheap and pretty much every sim racer owns at least one of those
Would have to rely on people not cheating though
Are the physics in PCars really that bad in comparision to most Sim racing games?
Are the physics in PCars really that bad in comparision to most Sim racing games?
I wouldnt say it's bad but it isnt good either, just dont drive in the rain, also the AI is retarded, going for opening that arent there and are just way too crash happy.
imo if assetto corsa was 7/10 on some imaginary physics/ffb chart project cars would be 6.2/10, and project cars is a much better rounded game. more cars and tracks, career mode etc.
AI is fairly shit in both but really not as bad as people make out.
pcars isn't as super serious as something like game stock car but it's still a lot of fun if you go into it with the mindset that it isn't 110% simulation
So I'm still gonna have to stick with RFactor 1 for my sim fix and Forza 4 for my customisation fix with slight sim elements? :P
AC is a good sim I see though? Last I tried it though playing with only a 180 degree wheel was impossible cause it was SUPER fucking twitchy.
I should hook my PS3 up to my monitor instead of my shitty 2007 flatscreen that makes every game look like shit
Finally got around to trying the updated FF for Dirt Rally. Its so much better now so that the idea of hooking up the wheel to play it isn't so crazy.
The Joux Plane map for AC is SO much fun in the M3 E30
I really need to get my wheel working again.
I've only ever played sim races online with other people, though it's true that on newer games there's a bigger chance that crashers might ruin the fun. Club racing is the solution here, though RaceDeparment made club racing avaliable only for premium users (10$ subscription fee for a year I believe).
Most fun car in pcars
do you enter the carb cup? every race has a crash like that, i dont get how people suck so hard especially on tracks like daytona and talladega
less than stellar wheel calibration, overpowering FFB, shaky hands, driving ovals like that in close quarters really isn't as easy as people portray it to be. literally one slight deviation from your racing line could fuck up many people's races. that's the excitement of it to me

Gave AC another shot. And as per last time. Using a wheel that can only turn 90 degrees each way gives you insanely twitchy steering. And all the fixes require constant INI edits. Sometimes including everytime you want to change car.
So I give up with AC once more. Sucks. Cause I really want to play it.

picking up a used DFGT if you've got the cash spare will make you a happy man

Sadly I'm not.

It's why I've got this. (The poor mans DFGT) The OLD DFGT. ^^^^ and have had so for god knows how many years. Even the FFB doesn't work. (Never even been able to use FFB.) :suicide: :v:
I really like RaceRoom Racing. I finally picked up the content packs now that it's the last day on sale with Steam. I wish more people played it. It's a really polished and really fun racing game.
This is from a random race I played online today. It was a DTM server, but with mixed classes so both the 2014 and 1992 cars were racing on the same track. Unfortunately this is a very new and unsupported feature. It doesn't sort race results by class, so I have no idea how I did against the 3-4 other 1992 cars on the track. I love the 1992 DTM cars and will take any excuse to drive them, even if it means sharing a track with cars 20 years newer.
Most of the footage is footage that was recorded live, but mixed with some stuff from replays because the sound in RaceRoom is unbelievably good.

Get on my level.

Back when this thing was new, CMR 2.0 didn't even exist, there were only 3 NFS games instead of two dozen, and Sega still made consoles.
I've had this thing for 16 years now, and it still works better than you would expect from such an old thing. And no, it doesn't have FFB either. :v:
Surprisingly reliable too, since mine did last without failures for more than 15 years. It has only been four months ago where I had to replace the pedals because both the winches on them snapped.
Although I can't hide that I am envious of those newer wheels. Especially those with actual shifters instead of peddles. Those on my wheel are clumsily tiny, which makes shifting in corners an utter pain.

all you wheel having shit lords need to check your privilege
fear my 270 degrees of doom!

while the turning radius is shallow to say the least, this fucking wheel drives better than literally 90% of the wheels i've ever driven with. the force feedback is absolutely perfect
[editline]21st June 2015[/editline]
i couldn't imagine 90 degrees either way. i mean, 135 isn't that much higher but boy i couldn't imagine going lower. i'm pretty much right on the fringe of twitchy steering
Ya'll motherfuckas need to drive with gamepads!
Hm, I'm simmering with rage, maybe I'll try a 7 min lap around St.Patrick's day track
