i bought GSCE so i could pick up automobilista when it comes out but i'm finding GSCE really shit and not fun, as well as struggling to get things to work properly and get anything out of the content it has i may as well refund, right? - the content in automobilista isn't going to be much different in GSCE (more features, yes, but the underlying essentials will be the same, i think?) and everything i thought i could get from the game i can basically get from somewhere else and so i probably wont enjoy automobilista either b
What exactly is your problem with the game? Obviously I can't speak for your experience but I would urge that you work past the growing pains (of any sim) before giving up on it.
Woo, it seems to be staying calibrated now. Yay but now I am shit at dirt rally again cuz i haven't played in weeks

Why do they put Game in front of it?
Anyone else having issues getting rally workshop setups to appear? I have subscribed to many workshop setups but none of them appear in the set up menus (all I get is this blank screen: http://puu.sh/mihJ8/a8a4f3dec2.jpg) So far I have just subbed to setups for the mini and the lancia stratos as they were the first cars I used in career mode and I have advanced set up unlocked for them both. I have unsubscribed and resubscribed to them, validated game files, uninstalled and reinstalled game to no avail. I posted on the steam discussions page but I have no idea if the devs even check stuff there. [editline]3rd January 2016[/editline] Ok nvm I fixed it by logging out and back into steam. No idea why that works.
God damn, a 1973 Kenmeri Skyline and a 1973 Monaro both in today's Forza DLC. There are others of course, but these seem like the nicest in the pack. EDIT: Oh shit, there's an Opel Kadett C too, but it has no picture in the article. Hell of a pack, I'm loving how every FM6 DLC car isn't a returning car in any way, everything so far has been entirely new.
dat Skyline... hnnnnnnnnnng! Anybody want to start a fund so I can get an Xbone?
I'm really enjoying the new car pack. It's new stuff. Stuff I've never driven in any other games. [editline]6th January 2016[/editline] Also wouldn't mind testing that Formula Mazda spec racing car either
note to self: don't try to drive the Formula Mazda on the Nürburgring Nordschleife full, during the night, with 19 players racing. Haven't crashed this much since I was 5 and I tried a touring car game when I was terrible at everything.
Was really surprised to find out that Assetto Corsa is actually playable for me online even with ping of > 700 ms. Had some clean and decent and crazy races\cruises with Iku today and that leaves me for wanting more. Could we try to arrange a FP race with atleast 4 people?
Would you guys actually recommend assetto corsa? What's the general take on the game?
Would you guys actually recommend assetto corsa? What's the general take on the game?
It's like an alternative rFactor to me, very moddable even apart from cars and tracks and that is one of it's main advantages. To some people it may seem more like a driving\hotlapping sim than racing one, because for example, pitstops are still not implemented in singleplayer. Yet I really enjoy just driving in this game, all vanilla tracks and cars are decently made, force feedback seems alright too. There's also hotlapping leaderboards plugin. By the way you're not going to get some kind of gamey feel from this, Career and Special Events are lazily done, so you're to having fun all by yourself, and I do that just by driving on the Nordschleife.
Would you guys actually recommend assetto corsa? What's the general take on the game?
As long as you're aware of all the things Assetto Corsa doesn't do and are okay with it, the core driving is great. I personally make up for the lack of any worthwhile singleplayer by racing online, and AC's netcode got significantly better in the last patch. It's also one of the best not-iRacing simracers out there for pick up and play online racing. The game is great for hotlapping and online sprint races. Of all the not-iRacing racing sims, it's neck and neck with Project CARS for most populated pick up and play online racing. Versus PCars in that respect, it depends more on your time zone. AC is significantly more populated during Euro times, but practically dead during US times. PCars has a more even distribution.

Here is a typical DR stage where I don't totally wreck my car. If someone could give me some direction as to where I'm going wrong I'd be super grateful.
1st thing wrong is playing in 3rd person
1st thing wrong is playing in 3rd person
I might just bite the bullet and start using my wheel again and go 1st person. It'll probably take me weeks to get used to it but I guess it'll be worth it.
I drive in the closest camera to the road, the one basically in the radiator and i've cut my times big time, I think being closer to the ground gives you a better sense of speed so you can judge when you need to brake and when you can just throttle it
First thing I noticed is how you short shift, without much reason for it, it can be usefull when driving on ice/snow so you can maintain traction, but on tarmac that isnt really a problem. While still on the transmisson, you need to work it more, you dont really downshift when you need it, if you dont do that, you dont really have the power you need to maintain speed on exit, there was also a right 1 you took in 3rd gear that's not something you should do unless you're in finland. You should also work on your entry angle for corners, and pay more attention to the co-pilot, he may be trying to kill you but he's all you've got. One more thing, learn to tune your car, the default setups tend to be a bit garbage, the tarmac one in particular is completly hopeless.
Are you by any chance playing with Automatic gears on? Older cars can still be pretty quick even with automatic gears on, but the newer 4wd cars are generally way slower with auto gear than using manual gear, as it seems that they will shift way too early to get to the highest gear quicker. The R4 cars, like the Mitsubitshi Lancer Evo X you are driving and the Subaru Impreza WRX Sti R4 are notoriously bad with that, they apparently shift way too early into a new gear while the acceleration on those cars is not very good. Really, start practising with manual gears if you haven't yet, it gives way more control over your actions and you will drive generally faster due to it. Also, cockpit view helps a lot too. Except when you are out driving the Lancia Stratos in a rainy Wales stages due to the windscreen wiper being comically small or the Hyundai i20 WRC on any stage due to not being able to see what gear you are in with cockpit view.
Did some real fun gimmick racing in Assetto with SuXin earlier. 911 RS Touge, Lotus 98t's at Joux Plane (don't try this :v: ) etc. Good times. Finished it off with a quick race in Reliant Robins and well, the inevitable happened: [vid]https://my.mixtape.moe/yauiqh.webm[/vid] It'd be really cool to get a group going for this kinda stuff. I want to see a FP Reliant race around Brands Hatch so bad.
lost it
this should be good
Thanks guys, I am playing with auto transmission for now. Once I'm somewhat used to the wheel & pedals I might start using manual shifting (I did try it before and it went horribly haha).
sequential shifting without clutch is pretty easy
can you save replays in dirt rally?
Bought 2 new tracks and a month of iRacing before Christmas, moved and now have a new desk with nowhere to clamp my wheel to. Complete waste of money, this is the 1 thing I absolutely hate about iRacing, you feel obligated to play as much as possible because you're paying ludicrous amounts of money for everything I love circuit gilles-villeneuve which is why I bought it but due to the desk situation I can't race, and I bet it's not on the schedule next season so I have to buy even more tracks then
beamng is getting pretty good with the recent tuning, now I just need some better tracks and I can be all dorifuto.
beamng is getting pretty good with the recent tuning, now I just need some better tracks and I can be all dorifuto.
Are you playing with a controller or wheel? I keep over correcting with my 360 controller. As soon as the back end goes out even a little bit, I start swinging back and forth. :(
Still looking for people to do dumb and not-so races in Asetto Corsa, next time we're going to try this
