Get on my level. Back when this thing was new, CMR 2.0 didn't even exist, there were only 3 NFS games instead of two dozen, and Sega still made consoles. I've had this thing for 16 years now, and it still works better than you would expect from such an old thing. And no, it doesn't have FFB either. :v: Surprisingly reliable too, since mine did last without failures for more than 15 years. It has only been four months ago where I had to replace the pedals because both the winches on them snapped. Although I can't hide that I am envious of those newer wheels. Especially those with actual shifters instead of peddles. Those on my wheel are clumsily tiny, which makes shifting in corners an utter pain.
Damn. And I thought having my current wheel for 10 years was impressive. I bow to you. But yes. I agree in on a serious matter. I am utterly envious of newer wheels and wish I had the financial situation to be able to splash out for a nice fancy one. Even a new DFGT would be sweet. :v: I do have a good gander in the second hand shops and used stores and stuff around me very often incase they have any wheels in there by some sheer miracle. Thus far with no luck. :v: [editline]21st June 2015[/editline]
i couldn't imagine 90 degrees either way. i mean, 135 isn't that much higher but boy i couldn't imagine going lower. i'm pretty much right on the fringe of twitchy steering
It makes me hate life. :suicide:

Oh neat, a sim racing thread. I will post dumb questions here [editline]21st June 2015[/editline] [t]http://puu.sh/ixT3x/07faa2272f.png[/t] (ignoring ride 'em low and trackmania) like which of these things do I launch to play the game they all came in a bundle I got from bundle stars so i don't know which thing is which. Like does raceroom racing experience connect with race 07? Since all of those other things are addons I think for race 07 can I just launch race 07 to use them or why the hell are they listed as individual games rather than just under the dlc menu for the game like every other game on steam. And is race injection a DLC or is it a completely new game separate from race 07
I really like RaceRoom Racing. I finally picked up the content packs now that it's the last day on sale with Steam. I wish more people played it. It's a really polished and really fun racing game. This is from a random race I played online today. It was a DTM server, but with mixed classes so both the 2014 and 1992 cars were racing on the same track. Unfortunately this is a very new and unsupported feature. It doesn't sort race results by class, so I have no idea how I did against the 3-4 other 1992 cars on the track. I love the 1992 DTM cars and will take any excuse to drive them, even if it means sharing a track with cars 20 years newer. Most of the footage is footage that was recorded live, but mixed with some stuff from replays because the sound in RaceRoom is unbelievably good.
Which track is this?
Which track is this?
p. sure the same as my avatar, but i don't know the source video for my avatar so I can't say for sure
^Thanks for that. On a similar topic, does anyone know why Raceroom completely fucks up my computer? I can drive for about 10 seconds before I start to get popping in the audio. Initially it sounds like distortion, as if the sounds were badly recorded and crackly (but it's not the sounds of course). After about 10 more seconds, there are lots of gaps in the audio, where it's periodically silent for a few seconds. These gaps eventually get worse and worse until the entire computer/OS can't make any sound. It's not just the game either. I frequently listen to podcasts in the background, and they begin to crackle and go silent soon after, as if the sound is completely being disabled by the game. After that, the FPS drops from a solid 60 to below 20 with stutters. If I alt-tab out to open Task Manager, the mouse and keyboard are extremely slow to respond and it takes a good few minutes just to kill the process, with the mouse completely freezing in some places. A few notes if anyone wants to try and diagnose it. 1. The audio symptoms I've experienced before when setting a program to High Priority/Realtime in Task Manager. Naturally I thought this might be the problem so I've tested Normal/Below Average for Raceroom and it didn't fix anything. 2. It does seem to be CPU bound, randomly spiking my usage and essentially just consuming my resources. 3. Linking in with 2, I have a relatively powerful CPU (i5 3570), and I've played many much more intensive games without similar symptoms besdies the priority being too high. 4. My Windows install is less than a month old and other games work perfectly, so it's not a hardware, registry/Windows/background process issue.

Iirc, at the time it was the only one with a reliable clamp. I had it for quite a few years until I got a Logitech Wheel and butchered the MS wheel. I removed the controller and bolted it onto the pedal base so that I'd have a second, standalone pedals set. I used the MS wheel's pedals for gas&brake and the Logi Wheel's gas pedal for the clutch.
I have a Playstation madcatz wheel that I got when I was a kid and it is absolutely atrocious. The force feedback in it is a simple spring, so if you let go of the wheel it would turn back and forth. They also didn't use the normal PS buttons despite being usable on the playstation only, instead having buttons I,II and III, just to confuse you. [t]https://i.imgur.com/Y9FtJGl.png[/t] No clamps either, uses suction cups on the bottom. Great stuff. Do you think I could get that working in Dirt Rally?

I picked up the WTCC 2014 pack for raceroom racing experience, I was expecting it to be one of their full "experience" things so feel a bit short changed but I guess I should've just read it properly. If I knew it was just cars, I would've been fine just buying the 1 car and racing against duplicates of the same car instead of all 4 WTCC manufacturers The cars feel and look great though, and as with any simbin game you can set up a championship with proper scoring that saves properly so I did that. 30 min races, full flags and tyre wear etc etc and put on 10-15 tracks that I already own (I bought DTM 2013 a while back so have plenty of tracks, and I also bought Macau because Macau is fucking sick) First race, Brands Hatch, about 5 minutes from the end my gearbox packed in and I had to retire :v:

Managed to fix my issues above. Turns out that using an Xbox One controller rapidly hogs CPU resources on some systems. If you have the same issues as me, try swtiching input device. Luckily for me I had a 360 controller lying around so it doesn't feel different to play. I think it was the first track I ever played on RACE/GTR Evo, pretty sure I just picked a random one and ended up with that. I bought it for RaceRoom today and did one of the competitions in order to loan a WTCC car for it. Driving the 320i TC around it feels really natural, even on Get Real mode using a controller. It'd be incredible if RaceRoom got weather at some point, because that's just about the only thing missing from it being the best sim IMO.

AC's singleplayer isn't just non-existent, it's fucking terrible. I'm on literally the FOURTH novice race in the first series and as the green gets waved, literally every 500SS just blows by me as their cars are vastly superior. I roll back out to the menu and notice that the opponent strength is set to 98% as default for the race. 98 fucking percent difficulty in a novice race. Get fucked, Kunos. I know you can change the setting, but who the fuck thought that was a good idea? [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] Also, proof that Kunos didn't give two shits about AI in the sense that "opponent difficulty" is really just a buzzphrase meaning "how much we're going to boost the other cars' performance" instead of just making them race better.

It's not as good as Forza, but I think it's easily one of, if not the, best PC racing sims to play with a gamepad. The WTCC pack is next up on the line for what I'm planning on buying. I really like touring cars, and if it weren't for the fact that I just spent more money than I was expecting to in the Steam sales, I would buy it right now. I was surprised by how quickly I fell in love with RaceRoom. It's a really charming game that's just well executed all-around. In other news, Project CARS 2 just got announced despite coming out less than a month ago. Between my general frustration with the game and this, I'm very tempted to see if I can get a refund on the game. [t]http://www.projectcarsgame.com/uploads/2/0/6/5/20658008/4801860_orig.jpg[/t]
Live For Speed literally feels better and more accurate than half the cars in Assetto Corsa. I am now regretting the $38. Fuck this game. [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] "hey tony this car's a rear wheel drive, should we make sure it drives the way it should in real life?" "nah fuck it just ramp up the oversteer and accelerator sensitivity" "alright" [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] half the game is great and the other half is pure shit. i don't get it.

They entirely re-made the Westhill circuit. They added a ton of layouts and a huge off-track free drive area for those who enjoy cruise servers. The main thing the devs say they're working on is the tire physics. Scawen has said repeatedly that no new cars or tracks will come out until the tire physics do. Unfortunately, the multiplayer community is going to completely die out before that happens. The servers are now deader than they were pre-Westhill. [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] Honestly though, the new Westhill is really worth the re-download. I'm bizarre in the sense that I spend most of my sim hours driving solo, so I really find the challenge of new layouts (including two go-kart tracks!) appealing
So what does everyone want for Horizon 3? Like the location and setting, what do you guys want? Personally, I would like for the third Horizon to be in Japan.
Some screenshots from a random RaceRoom Racing Experience race I just did. I'm really liking this game a lot. I just wish it had a photo mode because it’s way better looking any gMotor based game has any right to be. The Audi R8 is AWD and handles completely differently from the rest of the RWD cars. It does this weird thing where if you lift off the throttle, it starts to rotate freely and sideslip a bit, but as soon as you get back on the gas it grabs again and starts driving in the you were pointing. It’s a beast in corners because of this. Lets you take them in weird ways. I just spent like an hour in practice in iRacing trying to learn to do manual with no assists. I think I got a bit better, but still way slower than I would be while only having to click the paddle without needing to clutch or blip manually. also a lot more crashing than if I only had to concentrate on shifting and braking.

In Assetto Corsa I don't think the road cars are any good. They tend to feel very numb. I also don't like a lot of the Lotus cars. They're really boring to drive and don't feel like they have anything going on. The GT3 cars are all good, so are the old DTM BMWs and Mercedez. The latter are a lot of fun to drive because they feel like you're chucking around ungainly overpowered family sedans, which I guess they are. If you want a challenge to drive with great sound, the F40 is a lot of fun. I'm also a very big fan of the old Lotus 49 on Monza 1966.
I really only enjoy driving the E30 in AC, but I also only enjoyed the tracks imported from other games Joux Plane made AC fun for me
In Assetto Corsa I don't think the road cars are any good. They tend to feel very numb.
Yeah, that's a shame. I haven't tried many of them yet, but the Abarth 500 and the Giulietta felt a little disconnected to me, too. And I got AC mainly because of the road cars :/ Then again, I'm enjoying the GT cars immensely, so I guess it's cool.
As unrelated as this goes, but I'm somewhat frustrated with Street Racing Syndicate because I'm stuck with 1000 respect to last racing event.
