If I wanted to get The Crew, is Wild Run edition enough or should I buy the complete edition? I know Wild Run is supposed to have added a bunch of stuff over the base game but I don't know about the other stuff.

Wild Run has better physics, more vehicle types and events while the other dlc are only cars
the crew felt really rushed and was so stereotypically ubshit that i wasnt going to throw money at the dlc no matter how good it was
So.. Assetto Corsa or Project Cars?

Wild Run has the same physics as the base game, just like the graphical upgrade those things were free for everybody, what you get only with Wild Run are the bikes, three new specs (drag, drift, monster truck), the Summit, custom challenges and a few new modes.
The new cars introduced when Wild Run came out are available in the base game for free (you still have to buy them in game of course), not sure if you get also the Summit reward cars (like the Evora, M4 etc excluding the GS1200 which is a bike and definitely exclusive to Wild Run) when they become available after two Summits with the base game, probably not.
Oh man I loved the around the island challenge in TDU1, ~50 minutes of driving at million kmh trying not to hit anything
it's also the only game where i get to see cien's and 4-12's interior, liking some of the cars in that game too

Corsa so you can join our trackdays
I am a sucker for photo modes, and the The Crew has a great one. I kinda regret not buying this earlier. This is like everything I loved about Test Drive Unlimited.

I need this

Am I going to be crucified for playing on a gamepad and having automatic clutch enabled?
Damn, had no idea FH3 was coming to PC. Had 1 but barely played it because xbox

can you actually flip the car or is there fucking still weird dumbass autoleveling that makes everything feel janky, didn't know wild run improved physics and I might pick it up if it's actually not bad

Not really, we're just having fun with cool or shitty track\car combos.

I thought so but BoSoZoku said that the physics improvements also came in a free patch when Wild Run released. So the physics are only really improved if you played before Wild Run released (although a lot of recent patches also tweaked handling of some cars)

Yes physics are the same, considering it would break the game to have the same car have different physics for different people when they can drive together, the cat physics are only removed in monster trucks where you can flip on purpose and land upside down without being reset, all other vehicles still consider most flips, even those you could clearly recover from, a crash and will start the crash cam unfortunately.

So we can have a Hyruahcnwkis and an MX-5 in a single race? This sounds beautiful

no
we ride karts on rallycross tracks
Buses from top dowm view 5/5

Even better
If the crew had good driving physics it would have been one of the better racing games out there. It's still an okay game though, reeks of unrealized potential.
How do I know exactly what car behaves how in respect to shifting without trial and error? I noticed that some have auto cutoff, and one thing that is strange: even on older cars like bmw m3, I noticed that I don't have to use the clutch. I just release the gas, switch gear, and car behaves normally, it even shows N in between the gears on the HUD. I don't have automatic clutch assist. It doesn't say anything during loading, too. Just the tyre model.
Stupid question maybe but I'm completely new to sim racing.

It's hard to flip the car because when you go on jumps the game will try to prevent the center of gravity from causing you to nosedive, but you can most definitely flip the car. I landed upside down after a really awkward jump in my 370z, it did a "crash" cutscene, and then it reset me.
I mean The Crew's physics definitely aren't what I would call greatgreat, but they feel better than I remember them being, especially the off-road stuff. I recall being frustrated with off-roading in the beta, but I haven't had any problems now. The cars also handle better and more intuitively once you start leveling them up with upgrades.
To be fair though, it's been like two years since the beta, so I don't remember all the details or quirks it used to have. I loved Test Drive Unlimited but that game's physics were garbage. I was willing to overlook it though because I loved the rest of the game so much and I feel the similarly about The Crew. The physics are no where near as bad as TDU so there's a lot less overlooking of problems to me.
So I've bought a G27. :joy:
It's been recommended I swap the wheel for a cheapy eBay 350mm wheel - anyone done this themselves?
you need an adaptor and new paddles as the standard paddles are too short for anything over 300-320mm
id suggest not to do it or pick a smaller rim size mainly because the increased rim diameter decreases the torque at the rim and the G27 has quite weak ffb (~3Nm) and already cant maintain 1:1 on faster cars
if you still want to do it you can get the stuff you need from www.derekspearedesigns.com i think your money would be better spent doing a pedal mod
Alright, thanks for the insight. What sort of pedal mods would you recommend?

is this with damage on?
you can shift in real life without the clutch, if you rpm match, which is what the game assumes you're trying to do, so it'll grind the gears till it actually matches.
the auto cutoff ones are mostly double clutch transmissions, cus gotta go fast.
I'm assuming you're talking about assetto corsa here by the way.
I'd suggest the Nixim brake spring, they do clutch and accelerator springs as well but I think most people just put the stock brake spring in the accelerator.
You can get a load cell but I don't think it makes sense you can get the cheaper fanatec pedal that have a load cell for about the same price

Yes, damage is on, playing on the PRO preset. Is it possible that some cars react better to clutch-less shifting than others? Also, is it fine to do if I don't notice any obvious problems? I mostly just listen to how smooth the RPM changes it's pitch, I really don't know a lot about cars.

I might look at the clutch spring as well, since my experience of real race/rally car clutches and the G27 are very different!
Any plans on a 'trackday' in the near future? I purchased the DLC because of the sale, including the japanese car pack because mk4 supras and FD's make me funny in the pants.
Can you modify cars in the Forza Horizon games to the extent of turning a Camaro into a Baja truck that looks like it would belong in Mad Max? That's one of my favorite things about The Crew, and it would especially fit well into Horizon 3's Australia setting. I know Horizon 3 has off-road vehicles, but they all look like they were specifically designed for it and not adapted from regular cars.
On second thought, did Forza Horizon even have customization at all? I only played the first one and it was so long ago I don't even remember.
