They should get the people who did TOCA 3 or Project Cars to do the audio for Forza. TOCA 3 probably has the most-authentic sounds for the V8 Supercars. Even GT3 is more-authentic than Forza 6 for them.
I don't think the people who did the V8 Supercars sounds for Forza 6 ever heard them racing.
I would expect Codemasters to have done a decent job on the audio for the V8 Supercars in TOCA 3 given that they did publish it and 3 other games under the V8 Supercars name in Australia
sooner or later i'll sell my ps3 and buy a xbox 360 for that real Forza experience
Hope you don't want any of the DLC, because it's completely unobtainable now.
new gran turismos just make you want to play the old ones
especially with the fucking gran turisno 3/4 models imported into it that had no interior and pixellated fucking gaps between panels
If you mess with the D3D settings you can get GT4 looking pretty nice on PCSX2, still holds up gameplay wise
Is there any way to bypass the minimum system requirements on the Windows store to download Forza Apex?
I've managed to make lots of games look very nice on pcsx2 but gran turismo 4 lags like hell or i get other issues. if i dont have certain settings, my gt3 or gt4 screens glitch out on some tracks. i was able to get gt4 looking ok once but it was running slower than slow, so i just stuck with gt3 which emulates even better
im more than happy with the graphics on console i just think its lazy they had 10 year old models in the game when they could easily make new ones
on pcsx2 as a last resort you should fiddle with ee cyclerate / vu cycle stealing. however the latter causes huge emulation speedups at the cost of lower game framerate. this should make it 100% speed
Started playing Rally championship 2000 again. While I was searching for patches and other fun things i found out the game had cheats to unlock a bunch of hidden cars.

There's a surprising ammount of hidden cars for a game that came on a CD, also there's mods for the game.

My personal favourite is the Volvo 850R "Welsh Sheep Wagon"

I really like that one. it's so massive it blocks the text box with it's name.
If anyone hasn't seen the full collection of hidden cars.

Managed to bypass the Forza Apex minimum specs requirement by downloading Forza Hub and downloading it through that. It runs above 30fps on medium despite being well below specs, though I do get some odd stuttering despite it being on an SSD.
Tires a way less grippy than in Forza 4. I'm breaking lose even without touching the throttle in the Mustang Mach 1.

Reminds me of old Le Mans game where you could drive pizza slices.

Speaking of which, does anyone know any decent PC games that feature Le Mans as an actual event?
I'd prefer one that can have the timescale shortened (e.g. 24 minutes in GRID) and have the actual multi-class racing.

Project Cars has one which features LMP1, LMP2, GT3 and GT4 simultaneously and can be anywhere on a sliding scale from 2 hours to 24 hours (with any time featuring the full day/night cycle). Depends if you consider it a good game.
I actually did it once. Finished the event with enough fuel left to last only one more lap (pit strategies are very important for tyres, fuel etc).

It ran very well on my 4.6GHz i5-2500K with a R9 270X, I'm pretty sure it's a single-threaded program since it doesn't run quite as well on my i7-3770 but i needed vt-d :(
also, GT3 is buggy as shit in the emulator for some reason
Is the Thrustmaster T150 any good? I don't have the money to splurge on the T300 or any of the other wheels in that price range.
I used to have a Logitech Formula Force Ex, but that one isn't usable anymore due to problems with the pot. Plus, right out of the box it already had quite a large deadzone in the center.
Really all I'm looking for is stronger Force Feedback, large degrees of rotation, and if possible, as little deadzone as possible.

It's fine if you're casually going to use it and not bothered about upgrading the wheel rim. How long would it take you to save for the T300? Assuming you're serious about simracing.

I don't have a job and are a poor student, so I'd be buying it with birthday money :V
I like games like Dirt:Rally or Assetto Corsa, but I really only play for fun, not for iRacing leagues or anything like that.
Yo, how are people playing Dirt Rally with a wheel hitting the handbrake? I tried having a button on the wheel, but that's terrible and impossible to hit mid turn. Are people using a separate controller?

I'm using my flight joystick as an analog handbrake. Seen some people rig up the right stick on a PS2 or PS3 controller for the same effect too, with a big stick to extend it. Got sick of pressing the button on my G27 for the handbrake.

I was considering that, I might pick up a cheap joystick just for this when I'm back in the UK.
Also Dirt is an utter workout, I don't think I can play it for much longer than a couple of hours. If I can't get in that zone where I lose awareness and just absorb the notes it completely fries my brain.

That's the place you want to be. You sort of start driving the car subconsciously. It's bliss.

T150 will be fine then! If you can wait on a deal, even better.. it was £69.99 a couple of weeks ago.
T150 is pretty gud.
I have to get used to the larger steering lock, but other than that it's better than my previous wheel.
Recovering from oversteer is hard when you have to do one rotation back to center.
I want a wheel setup, but I'm pretty oblivious as to what's good in this market. I'm on PC and I have the DiRT games, BeamNG, AC, ATS, Forza 6 demo and the new NFS.
I want force feedback with an H-shifter and clutch, preferably like $200 ish but id say my ceiling is $400. I don't have a preference for specific degrees of rotation yet as my last wheel was an OG Sidewinder when USB was new. Any suggestions would be appreciated

T300 or G29 (don't know about the older Logitech models, I haven't tried them)
I personally prefer T300 because H-shifter isn't shit like on g29, 1080 degrees of steering vs 900, much better force feedback system with brushless motor and BELTS instead of gears that clank louder than you can hear the game, built with newer technology overall in comparison to the old tech that logitech still uses. They are both about the same price, but there is one con: you don't get the clutch pedal with T300, and the pedals themselves are only OK, not great (But they sell a great set separately, for about 100).
tl;dr: T300 = amazing wheel and OK pedals (no clutch); G29 = good "rattle me bones" wheel with good pedals.

You don't use the full rotation limit unless you're playing a city car driving sim. Set your rotation limit to the one your car has. I typically set 540 for racing.

I've set the rotation limit on 540, unless I'm playing BeamNG.
It's still 180 degrees more to full lock than my previous wheel though, have to get used to my hand positions.
I mean, I have a drivers license and have been driving for 6 years now, so it's not that much of an issue but at high speed it's trickier.

Even if you've been driving for years, there seems to be some sort of mental block you have to pass when playing games, where you still have to get used to turning the wheel as much as you do.
Despite your real steering wheel having more degrees of rotation.
I think it's all part of the lack of other sensations you get from driving IRL, feedback from gravity on your body in turns, feeling the road through your arse and spine, getting a real sense of speed in games is hard, sim wheels are often smaller than real steering wheels (this is a funny one, if I spend some time simming, then get in my car it feels like I'm sitting behind a ship wheel)
I was actually speaking to my dad about it recently (he's retired now, so has time to play games these day), he's been driving for over 40 years and done the odd amateur race here and there. He said it took him ages to get used to playing games with a wheel and he still struggles to apply how he'd drive IRL to the game.
I feel I can get a full lock on quicker and keep my hands in a proper position in my car than I can than playing with a wheel. Sometimes it seems like a race wheel is heavier than a real cars (even compared to say an old Series Land Rover), obviously it isnt but it seems it. Maybe it's getting past in your head that one is essentially toy clamped to a table while the other is solid thing connected to one and a bit tons of steel.
I dont know. There must be some sort of name or theory for this :v:

And in games with sort of stall states, pulling away just by letting the clutch up without any throttle seems just about impossible.

With TrackIR it's actually a lot simpler I've noticed, it's like you instinctively know what direction your moving in and what to do.
If you have the money, get VR. Tried it in Dirt Rally last night and it felt a lot easier to control the car compared to a flat screen.
You can only get the Horizon 3 Ultimate edition as a pre-order right?
