SimRacing General: successor to Forza/Gran Turismo/Racing thread

Oh okay good. I was ended up sliding side to side every time after trying to counter steer out of a sick nasty drift with sim steering.
Who here owns an xbone just for Forza?
I know FH3 is coming out soon on PC, but an xbox+FM6 bundle on amazon is decently cheap ($250) and I've sort of got a hankering to play the 'real' game.
There doesn't really seem to be much more of a reason to buy an xbox though, the other exclusives are kind of garbage.
I suppose it's real likely that FM7 will have a release next year, probably on PC as well?

Honestly. I bought the Xbox One Elite mainly just for F6, but also for Destiny and Halo series. (I know a lot of games are coming to PC. But I do love the idea of getting home from a 12 hour night shift at 5am and playing an hour or two on Forza on the sofa with a controller and just chilling, and to be honest with you I find it a lot more relaxing than coming home and going straight onto the PC to play anything.)

I already own a PS4, so most of my console needs are met already. There's very few true exclusives anymore and I doubt that I would play anything other than Forza. I know what you mean though, I prefer consoles a lot of the time because they feel less distracting.
I'm afraid FH3 will leave me wanting a more traditional track experience and that the open world will feel kind of shallow.
Yup. I love getting home from night shift and just throwing the Xbox on and laying down and doing a few races or even just modding some cars and doing some tune ups and so forth.
On day shift however I usually end up going on to the PC regardless just because I have a lot more motivation to be doing something more intense in regards to gaming etc. That and the Xbox works really well as Netflix/Now.TV

If you do you're guaranteed to get a Forza Motorsport in a year so no worries

I thought you were gonna go shower! Electronics and Showers do not mix well!
In seriousness however.
Yes, F7 I imagine will come to Xbox One also. Along with PC. Providing they don't gimp the PC release of F6...

I'm pretty sure they confirmed all future Forza titles will be released on both Xbox and PC, and the release schedule is always motorsport-horizon-motorsport etc. Unless they suddenly pull a different kind of spinoff out of their ass we're guaranteed a nice Motorsport title on both Xbone and PC next year.
so excited for a PC release of FM
FM6 was the only reason I was considering buying an xbone, but I can wait for FM7. I can hook up my compy to my big TV for some couch forza action anyway
so excited for a PC release of FM
Same, was actually planning on getting an Xbone just for F6/H3 in the month when Apex came out, then I decided to hold off cause I had a feeling the rest of Forza's would be PC too. Glad I did.
Horizon 2 looks amazing and 3 is no different, really hyped for it
[editline]22nd August 2016[/editline]
And I never really had Gold when I played the 360 Forza's so I can finally do online stuff too
If you do you're guaranteed to get a Forza Motorsport in a year so no worries
Yeah I should just be patient, it's just one of those things where I could buy the xbox and flip it in a few months for half price probably or I could just wait like a normal person.

I'm excited for FH3 as well. Hopefully we get the rally parts from the expansion from FH1 too, would be perfect for the terrain we get to play around in.
Also excited to finally have tuning in a Horizon game, since I played FH2 on Xbox 360 which had no tuning.

I hope so, I loved the parts you could get for the GT4.

Horizon 2 is quite fun with a wheel, it makes the roads feel super wide though. The lack of any view customisation isn't great, the cockpit view has a really small fov and the hands on the steering wheel are sometimes really bad where dudebro looks like he's bending his wrists in really uncomfortable ways. I ended up using the hood view mostly.
Road races become easy mode. Cross countries are even more of a bitch. I was always rubbish at them though and would end up putting the AI don't and still struggle to win. And I'd forgotten how terrible the road trip AI was. But the feeing of just racing old classics around in the quite gorgeous open world can't be matched.
Really looking forward to Horizon 3. I loved Horizon 2 and sunk so many hours into it. It would've been cool if it let you run the Finale race whenever you wanted after you've done it a couple of times. I hope H3 has more long route races and I hope there's more dirt road races, or the options to run any route whenever you like.
It'd be nice if they made sim handling a bit more realistic, I play H2 with sim handling with a controller but won't touch sim handling with a controller on FM6
Simulation steering in FM4 was weird as fuck, even with a Fanatec CSR it didn't feel right. Is that just me?
A Fanatec developer said that it would be more descriptive to call it a 'drift mode' than 'simulation'
A Fanatec developer said that it would be more descriptive to call it a 'drift mode' than 'simulation'
For me it made drifting much harder, counter steering was near impossible for me haha
Always snapped back suddenly, the only things I could do decently was race R1 class cars easier since they didn't spin tyres too badly and had much more grip so less oversteer.
Game of the year all years confirmed:

Pleased to see the Manta, 123GT, Range Rover SVR, 570S, and RR Dawn returning from FM6. Also very pleased the Alfa 155 isn't just a traffic car too.
I just want the Mercedes 300SEL 6.3 back from the old games, that or something like a W123.
Lotus esprit, that's something you don't see very often
So the account I use for Windows 10 is a different account than the one I use for my Xbox gamertag, is there an easy way to switch or use the Xbox one for Forza?
i want to preorder, but it still says playable on xbox one further down so i'm not sure if i'm meant to do it yet?

kind of hoping there's more cars to be released, some of the ones in the older FH games keep tempting me to buy a g27 adapter (for more than what my xbox cost).

Is there a list of all the cars announced so far?
Not surprised but I'm still excited at getting an FD to cruise around in. Do we know if we're getting an FC yet?

FC hasn't been seen since Forza 4 (even though FM6 has the FB which makes an odd gap), full car list is here: http://www.forzacentral.com/forum/threads/forza-horizon-3-vehicle-list-wip-updated-august-23rd.40469/
Yeah, I loved the FC in FM4, hopefully it makes a return at some point. Didn't realize FM6 had the FB though, that's pretty neat.
I've got enough S-Chassis', Skylines, GT-4s, and the E30 to keep me happy anyway.
All my favourite rally cars are in there, so I'm happy.
Shame about VW, however.

I hope we can transfer our previously made layers. I'd actually started making a Trotter's transit on FH2

I'm really concerned for the variety of Australian cars in the game. All we've seen is the same-old XB Falcon, the DLC cars from Forza 6, and a couple of new ones. They said they would be representing Australian car culture, but I don't see how they can do that with not even 10 cars in a game with 350 cars.
Even for non-Australian cars which are a part of Australian car culture, too. We get a lot of cars from Japan, especially what many consider as JDM. If the game doesn't have a rear-wheel drive R33 or R34 Skyline, I'll be disappointed (a drivetrain conversion of a GT-R would just be a cop-out).
