SimRacing General: successor to Forza/Gran Turismo/Racing thread

I'm just hoping the Gremlin will show up again in Forza Horizon 3. Was my favorite car in FM4; tiny wheelbase and torque for days. Started so low on the PI scale that you could tune it to do anything.

Look at that sexy beast.
I'm really concerned for the variety of Australian cars in the game. All we've seen is the same-old XB Falcon, the DLC cars from Forza 6, and a couple of new ones. They said they would be representing Australian car culture, but I don't see how they can do that with not even 10 cars in a game with 350 cars.
Even for non-Australian cars which are a part of Australian car culture, too. We get a lot of cars from Japan, especially what many consider as JDM. If the game doesn't have a rear-wheel drive R33 or R34 Skyline, I'll be disappointed (a drivetrain conversion of a GT-R would just be a cop-out).
They need to get the rights to portray Max's interceptor, they've already got the exact correct car.

Nah no Australian wants that
The Ford XY Falcon was a leap in the right direction, but they failed to maintain that momentum IMO. We want cars that we like and drive, not the cars that Hollywood shows off to the rest of the world
Has the iconic Canary Yellow VL Turbo been announced yet? :v:

Haha nah
We might just have to put up with its plastic pig brother, the SS Group A SV
Forza Horizon 1 is on Games with Gold from September 1-15. Even if you already have it you should get it (and if you don't have Gold, get a day or week trial or something since you keep 360 games forever) since now it's a digital copy and it'll be BC on Xbox One.

It'll be interesting to see what the engine upgrades are like on that car. According to wikipedia it has restrictor plates - will we see restrictor plate removal?
With the emphasis on Australian icons, I'm surprised that they didn't include the Saab 900 Enduro, a special widebodied edition of the 900 sold only in Australia. It could make a great barn find car.
Granted, while I doubt it's even possible to get the rights to include the car, they said it isn't all the base cars, not to mention DLC. I can still hold out hope they'll do a mighty car mods DLC pack and it'll include the 900 turbo.
So I just discovered this and now I'm planning on building one. Anyone here done anything like this before? It seems simple enough, and the parts are pretty cheap.
To those who have a cockpit, how did you acquire your racing seat? Ebay? Salvaged car? Junkyard? I've been considering building one but acquiring a comfortable seat for it is a concern; right now my tossed together 'cockpit' just has a chair like what you'd see in a doctor's waiting room.
It would be both a racing and space/flight sim cockpit, so I'll have a joystick on both sides, a throttle and shifter on opposite sides, a racing wheel in the center and a keyboard somewhere.

Got my seat from a project FC. You could go to any junkyard with some sockets and take home a seat for ~relatively~ cheap, or otherwise check craigslist or something?

Friend and I got Jaguar S-Type front leathers for £10 each from a spares/repairs car on eBay. They're not perfect and I'd love a bucket seat, but they do the job.
I got a homemade cockpit with an old Ford Seat and a PlayStation 1 wheel and pedal set for a $1 off Ebay a few years ago.
I should look into reassembling it and getting a new wheel.

The Microsoft store did have Paypal having 'send to: [my adress]' though, hoping that that's just a standard Paypal thing and that I didn't order a physical copy by accident

I think that's just a standard paypal thing.
Horizon 3 is so close but feels so far away, I'm too excited.

Wait how does this thing work, you just buy it for X1 and then you also get it for PC? It looks like the pre-order bonuses are exclusive to X1 as well?

It's not really an Australian icon. Tbh I never even heard of it until you mentioned it. And I can see why, because they only ever made up to 12 of them. Cars like the Volvo 240 Turbo and Nissan Bluebird Turbo, despite being imports that didn't sell in many numbers (pretty sure the Volvo was never sold here), are more-recognisable due to their successes in touring car racing.
Pretty much every Australian icon is going to be some kind of FPV, HSV, Ford Falcon, Holden Commodore, Holden Monaro, Holden Torana or Valiant Charger. They make/used to make other homegrown cars like some Toyotas and Mitsubishis here. But none of them are icons. Although I once really wanted to get a Mitsubishi Ralliart Magna.

Yes and yes. As far as I'm aware, any digital copy is cross-play. How that actually works I'm not sure, whether it's a code or just logging into the same account and being awarded the game. But yes, the DLC is for XB1-only games too.
Oh. So no DLC love for us PC-only players then?
That's a shame :(
The DLC bonus in the quote you posted are DLC for FH2 and FM6 you get if you pre-order. Makes sense that those are Xbox only, since those games are only on Xbox :v:

OH. I skimmed over that bit. :v:
so it's just ordering for the xb1 then?
seems pretty weird but I suppose it makes sense or whatever.
Yeah, physical copies are Xbox One only, no Play Anywhere, but digital copies are for both

But they're the same price right? Seems like a weird approach.
But they're the same price right? Seems like a weird approach.
Not sure, but probably yeah. If anything physical might be a bit more expensive for obvious reasons
Not sure, but probably yeah. If anything physical might be a bit more expensive for obvious reasons
Such an odd approach. I guess they couldn't give you a key to redeem, otherwise people would just sell the keys, but they should have it link to your Microsoft ID or something so you could play on both.
Oh yeah I finally got the XY Falcon. I just find it funny how you have to give it the race cam upgrade so that you can get its peak power, top speed and redline all the way up to its actual, real-life performance (in the case of the redline, it's as if you're removing the limiter like some people did with their GTHOs).

I guess icon wasn't really the best word for it, but it was still a unique and rare car exclusively for the Australian market. Could make a perfect car for a barn find.

Speaking of barn finds... Are the barn find cars included in the confirmed car list?

I know that some, possibly all of them were on the list for Horizon 2 but they didn't say that they were. You can probably guess which ones are from looking at the list. My guess is that at least the Robin and that one off Ferrari are.
