My copy arrived yesterday and I finished it this morning. Took me around 12 hours to finish up the story. Good game.
What? It's not supposed to be out yet.
What? It's not supposed to be out yet.
A bunch of copies got shipped early by Amazon.
People used to diss me, but the Uncharted trilogy may have been my favorite set of games of it's generation. They had such great characterization, fun stories, and just gorgeous scenes and locations. I remember seeing ding dong shamalayala for the first time and thinking that the graphics were just unreal. Best I'd ever seen. Can't wait to play this one.
I feel like the story was definitely not at the forefront of Uncharted 3, it seemed like all the set peices were instead. But it was still really fun to play and experience, though.
Yeah definitely. The set pieces were definitely the focus here, which honestly I enjoyed. From what I hear Uncharted 4 has flipped it around and it's a lot more "calm" in its pacing, with focus on story. I'm also fine with this because from what I hear it sounds very TLOU inspired in terms of pacing. [editline]9th May 2016[/editline]
do the reviews say how long 4 is? im supposed to be saving so i cant decide if i should buy it on launch or not
Someone on Reddit said he rushed it to finish it in a day (and only collected 20 of the treasures), and it still totaled to about 13 hours. He reckons it would take about 15 hours if you were just playing it casually. [editline]9th May 2016[/editline]
Aww man, when it's upside down. That was a great level. Even though 2 is the better overall game, I quite like the locations of 3.
I genuinely stood staring at the big glass wall (or roof, lol) and the water behind it for a good 30 seconds. Impressive considering it's been out for a while now. It was such a fantastic presentation that really grounded the whole level. Speaking of grounding the whole level, this camera positioning was sweet: I wish other games put half as much effort as Naughty Dog does in building set pieces.

I loved being able to spend half an hour exploring the Pittsburgh suburbs going through the houses and learning about the people who used to live there.
So for anyone that got the game early, does the frame rate stay at a steady 30fps for the most part?
I wish I could have more player feedback and not just paid reviews and stuff as I thought 3 was pretty bad in general (though I heard they patched it since launch?) and I don't want to get burned again. Like I absolutely loved 1 and 2 but when I played 3 (at launch) I found it awful, the plot was filled with more holes than cheese, enemies felt too bullet-spongey and it was just overall super frustrating and borderline trial and error. 3 to me felt like it wanted to show off setpieces more then being a good game if that makes sense? Then I got Golden Abyss and I didn't even finish it, not because I hated it super hardcore or anything but because it was just flat out boring and the vita gimmicks were a total drag. [editline]9th May 2016[/editline] Also I heard that they removed Doughnut Drake because it's "Problematic" and that sounds really boneheaded and stupid.

Uncharted 3's story was blegh, no substance to it at all and the only thing that kept the narritive going was the banter in my opinion. Literally what I've read and seen of Uncharted 4 though, is that they've focused on the story. They've managed the pacing to be more consistent by making shit more believable. I've heard there's more cutscenes and there's some parts of the game where you can go an hour without killing anyone. At the end of the day though, I can't say you won't get burned because I haven't played it, but from the sounds of it it would be more geared towards you. Thanks for the link! And yeah it might just be the fact I played everything at launch and haven't actually really gone back to them in awhile but my most vivid memories of 2 were laughing at the jokes, exploring snow mountain towns and being blown away in general while my only memories of 3 are being pinned in the sinking ship by a dozen grenade dudes and getting mad at how everything just soaked up more and more damage while Drake felt like he was made of tissue.
Here is a great review: Ignore the face cam in the first 30 seconds or so, it isn't there for the whole video.

Giant Bomb just uploaded a quick look, christ the visuals in this game look unfathomably good
Why can no one else but naughty dog pull this shit off?
Nobody else is trying hard enough.
Only 6 more hours (and 23 minutes as of time of writing) till my local retail store starts selling physical copies. :hypeisreal: [editline]10th May 2016[/editline] I don't usually buy physical copies (no reason to clutter my home I guess) but with games like Uncharted I make an exception.
I edited Uncharted 1 into a 1-hour movie and showed it to my mum. She can be very picky and doesn't like video games, but she really liked it. I'm happy that I can make my mum appreciate Uncharted like me.
I work until midnight tomorrow so I'll probably play some early afternoon. May just save it for when I get back though, just to make work go quicker.
Played the first hour and a half, liking it so far. The thing I'm most impressed by so far is the realtime cutscenes. The way they do fast cuts to entirely different locations is something you usually don't see in realtime cutscenes since it would usually have to load in between, but they've somehow managed to do it.
Reading the reviews and it says the plot is more grounded without [sp]supernatural elements.[/sp] It's a straightforward plot with several allegories, which I say works well. I will miss any of the [sp]huge twists[/sp] tho.
I personally really didn't like those parts of the old games, it felt kind of.. hamfisted. [sp]like it was trying to be indiana jones a little too hard[/sp]
I think that kinda sucks because Golden Abyss didn't have any of it either and it was super boring as a result as enemies never really changed or got interesting and it lost a lot of the mystery to it. Naughty Dog kind of sounds like they lost the tone of the games in a effort to be more cinematic from the snippets I've seen and what they've been saying lately.
The fact that it's clear that they cut it from U3 really shows, especially [sp]Talbot, who's a fucking Djinn, but of course they never go into that and handwave away that 'he's an illusionist" [/sp]
Just came home, jesus christ 5 gigs takes forever to download

I blame its suckiness on that.
Why can no one else but naughty dog pull this shit off?
Dice, but that's literally it.
Also there is an unlockable visual mode that I actually really wish I could use in multiplayer because it looks super cool when it is on
Rafe reminds me of Steve Buscemi for some reason. Anyone else get that vibe?
The game crashed on me in multiplayer. It only happened once after 15 games. Hopefully it's just a one time thing.
I do wonder what the entire plot of the original game was about and how it was going to end. Alan Tudyk was supposed to be in the game. I'd say the whole dumb set pieces and twists were pretty much staples of the series. Only issue is that it needs to make sense in the entire context, which shows that they failed at it during the pirate chapters. Uncharted 3 was amazing, but I consider it to be the only part of the series where it has a ton of flaws. They could have also shown chapters from Charlie and Chloe's perspective or from Sully and Elena's, but Amy Henning said that if they're going to make a single-player DLC, they might as well make a full game. I guess a bunch of stuff got kicked in the head.
Uncharted 3 is one of the only times I've heard "This character was put on a bus" and they actually meant it.
