Oh my god it's so pretty.
[editline]11th May 2016[/editline]
I can't stop taking screenshots.
I love this game so much already and I've only just arrived at chapter 10. The gunplay and melee is so fluid and genuinely fun - amazing considering it was definitely the weakest link in all the previous games. I love swinging about on ropes like a mad man spraying.
The climbing is so much better too. I love how you can just hold in a general direction and nate will try reach out and grab whatever, and if he can reach, he automatically transfers. So much better than mashing X like in the past 3 games.
And the facial animations. Damn. So good.
Compared to the previous titles, all of the action elements feel so goddamn slick. I absolutely love it.
Yeah I think I'm about halfway through assuming there's 25 chapters. I don't want this to end, it's too good. I'll happily keep the game for MP and DLC.
Goddamn though, some of the lighting and how it plays off of the character models. I've had a few of those "oh wow" out loud moments so far.
I keep wasting grenades because I played through the last 3 games where reload was bound to R1, and not grenade.
I keep wasting grenades because I played through the last 3 games where reload was bound to R1, and not grenade.
I found grenades significantly less useful in 4. I don't know why but here they are unintuitive to use, never go where I want them to and have a very small AOE to get stable kills.
And do I get this right, you cannot throw them back now?!
Ending spoiler:
[sp]I really hope they'll make a game about Cassie. She already seems to have all the traits needed to be an Uncharted protagonist, being a latin-speaking climber with an interest in archeology and shit.[/sp]
ending
[sp]how will cassie ever begin to comprehend let alone accept that her mother, father, and their friends murdered thousands of people and destroyed irreplaceable parts of historical cities over treasure and secret cities. Then they blow up those things too.[/sp]
I thought it was kind of odd near the beginning at Nate's house how[sp]you can pick up that toy gun and shoot those targets for fun. It's like he misses the joy of killing people[/sp] :v:
This game is pretty damn good, and Multiplayer has no right to be as good as it is.

I don't think he likes killing people, but he enjoys combat
so I never played Uncharted 3 but played all the others, guess I definitely should play it before 4 right?
I'd skip 3, it's frustrating and the plot is awful and rushed. Like it's genuinely filled with plot holes in every other scene.
so I never played Uncharted 3 but played all the others, guess I definitely should play it before 4 right?
I mean you don't have to. Uncharted 3 is still quite fun though (despite the story, as said in post above) and I wouldn't recommend skipping out of it even just so you don't miss some of the excellent set pieces in that game.
But when you're playing 4, and you finish 4, it'll feel a lot better to have completed the series instead of just the game. But aside from some back-story (which you have most of anyway), the actual story in 4 is very self contained from what I've played so far.
If you're patient enough I'd say play 3. But if you're gonna call off buying 4 just because you haven't played 3, and can't be bothered to do so, I'd say still buy 4.

It's still awesome fun though. I absolutely don't get people saying that you should skip Uncharted 3. If there's one Uncharted game to skip, it would be 1 waaaaaaay before 3.

Eh I'd argue that, the supernatural enemies of that game were terrible combat wise and there were far more frustrating parts of it due to them needing to keep certain setpieces in. I think I said it before but I recall bulletsponges with grenade launchers pinning me down at the sinking ship scene and even on normal if I moved *at all* I'd get killed. Then the rest of the game was just that times infinity where it's nothing but heavily armored dudes with shotguns and grenade launchers and just ughhhh
1 at least had the excuse of being the first of the genre and the first crack at it.
In 4 I just met the heavily armored dudes and they're nowhere neeear as bad as they were in 3 though.
[editline]12th May 2016[/editline]
Uncharted 3 in general cared more about the setpieces then the actual gameplay to me- and the devs themselves have gone on record saying that. I wouldn't mind watching someone else go through it just to see the trainwreck of a plot but I'd never want to do it myself.
I'm saying this as a person who still has the legendary edition and nathan drake statue that came with 3 sitting by me.
Uncharted 1 is fine if you play it on easy mode.
Every Uncharted game is amazing, but Uncharted 2 and 4 are the most flawless.

This dialogue in this game is so fucking good. Just feels so natural and real. Only minor complaint is when
(Chapter 16 spoilers) [sp]Young Drake and Sam are exploring the old house, and Drake takes a look at a vase and says "Huh, looks like a Ming Dynasty vase."
Like... I know they're intelligent, but how the hell does a kid that young, one who wants to run away from school, know enough about Chinese vases that he can differentiate them into eras based off a cursory glance/[/sp]
Not that big of a complaint, just took me out of it.

Well, first Drake is very cultivated. And second and most of all, his brother tells him it's probably not even one. So yeah, I don't really get your complaint.

i'm so sorry
Started playing UC4 this morning and damn it's great. A little bummed the cover is still button press instead of context sensitive like Last of Us or Tomb Raider, but it's easy to get over that. Story is great so far as well.
Well, first Drake is very cultivated. And second and most of all, his brother tells him it's probably not even one. So yeah, I don't really get your complaint.
No, his brother says "Unless it's a replica." But judging from the other items around the house, it probably isn't.
It's a really minor complaint, but it just bothered me, he wouldn't be able to tell what era of Chinese history it was from without picking it up and examining it.
Galaga guy also plays Rafe Adler.

Rafe's actor was insanely great. I think he stole the show.
Just finished. That lasted way longer than expected, although I did take my time and really take it all in... and probably spent a couple hours on photo mode alone. :v:
Damn. I loved that ending. I've seen people say they weren't a fan but it just tied up everything so well. And ENDING SPOILERS [sp]the fight with the swords was fucking awesome.[/sp]
Frankly I loved everything about this game. It's a shame it is the last of the series because damn they have such a good framework to build story on. The environments were just beautiful, the dialog and characters were better than ever, and the gameplay was genuinely solid. Some of the encounters like the [sp]E3 jeep chase were so well built. It was one thing watching that, but playing it and having the amount of freedom as they gave you in that scene was so so good.[/sp]
I think I'll be keeping this game for another playthrough sometime.
Edit:
I took 2gb of screenshots. :v:
Uncharted 4 Multiplayer in a nutshell.
Shit gets old after a while. It's been like this since launch. People seriously need to start doing the trials before playing online. No matter how hard you try, you can't carry a team by yourself.

Really liked the game. The climbing felt more "organic". Instead of one conveniently highlighted with white rocky cliffside there were now two you could climb. Loved the character Bantz. Really liked Rafe. Also really liked that [sp] There were no pirate ghosts, the nazi zombies was pretty much the worst part of Uncharted as a series. [/sp] The animations with reaching for handholds and other movement so good. I liked everything. Only fell through the gameworld once and had some minor jump aim drop to death issues.
