so... I started to play this again and im devating about wich expansion i should buy currently i only have ts3 ambitions and i dunno if i should buy night time whatever its called Or Pets
Get Late Night. IMO it's the best one, but I don't have Ambitions, World Adventures, or Pets.
Also, I aged into an adult by accident so I used the chemistry set to go back to young adult, and saw that my girlfriend had somehow aged from young adult to elder on epic. Since a young adult and elder couple is kind of weird, I decided to break up with her. However, I felt like being a little nice so I married her first to turn her into a young adult too. Then I divorced her, and since she was a famous, rich 5-star celebrity, also got her house and money.. I sold all of it to buy my own sick as fuck house that wasn't an apartment. Worth the 3 days of shame..
My favorite one is World Adventures. I love exploring the dungeons, finding loot and solving simple, yet entertaining puzzles.
When I purchased Pets and Showtime last month, I was disappointed that the new neighborhoods did not contain all the types of commercial lots. Also even more rabbitholes were combined to a single one. Therefore I took my favorite neighborhood Twinbrook and added all types of commercial lots. All original lots (except for the empty and decorative ones) are still available. You need World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Pets and Showtime.

I also made these container textures a while ago:

Too bad I can't play the game. After installing Pets and Showtime, the freezes which appear every few seconds made the game unplayable. I already tried everything to get rid of them including deleting CC, moving to new neighborhoods or using mods like nraas' Overwatch.
Reinstalling now.
Gonna be a playboy that seduces all the ladies in town, married or not, to make babbies.
I did this on an old save of mine. I had around 20 or so children without being married. My family tree was so large, that it actually corrupted my save.
My god damn butler wasn't doing what I told him to do, instead he'd just go skinny dip in my hot tub and pool.
Since he was defiant, and his bed was in a basement seperate from my house, I burned him.
That Twinbrook video makes me wish my Sims 3 never broke.
holy shit your title
what do you mean with married, women who are not married to you ?
Women who are not married to me but to somebody else.
That ice cream truck is creeping me out.. every night, at 12 AM, it drives up in front of my house and just waits there..
Sims 2 with all the expansions is better than Sims 3 in every way.

I don't think being trapped on one lot while the game runs at 15 FPS regardless of hardware and freezes when anything needs to be loaded is better in my opinion. Oh and the music is terrible.
Sims 1 music is best music.

It has a lot of humor and charm, and general playability when compared to The Sims 3.

How did I know this was going to be your response?
Charm doesn't make up for terrible design decisions.
Charm doesn't matter when the game is a unplayable pile of trash.
I played a shit ton of The Sims 2 back when I was in school. I've tried to go back and play a ton of times, but I can't stand it. While trying to play it I think to myself with "Why did they think this was a good idea? Why does this bug still exist?" I literally own every expansion for it. I completed that collection late last year, but I just can't play it in the state it was left in.
Yes, there are things I miss from The Sims 2 that I wish were in The Sims 3, but at least in my opinion I find The Sims 3 to be a much more enjoyable game for me.
Sims 1 and 2 were my childhood, I had almost all of the expansions for each, except 2's stuff packs.
I stopped playing them after I got a new computer a couple years back
I installed 3 on it a while back, but got bored and it was somehow lost in a system wipe or something
I reinstalled 3 on a whim on Friday
Help me I'm addicted

Amazon currently has a sale on The Sims 3 games and expansions digitally. The codes work with Origin if you register on the Sims 3 website.
Finally got Generations and Pets for like $14 each.
Showtime is on sale for $20, which seems like an okay price, but not sure if I'm going to purchase that one right away.
Installed all the Sims 2 expansion + Stuff packs, Oh boy I do enjoy those loading times when you start it up.
This looks like a pretty sweet custom town:

I'm planning on getting it when I get Pets.
Just a tip for The Sims 2. If you have a monitor capable of 1080p you might have noticed the game doesn't actually let you select it as a resolution. The good news is the game supports it but the resolution selection is clamped to a certain value.
Solution: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3536420/TheSims/Graphics Rules.sgr
Place this modified config file in the folder of the newest expansion you have installed
(X:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 (NewestExpansionHere)\TSData\Res\Config
)
The file should be called Graphics Rules.sgr
I never knew there was a Sims megathread.

"i never asked for this"
Oh man, the Sims.
I played Sims 2 on my friend's Xbox and on my Playstation (I still have the disk but it's too scratched to read) and did nothing too different. We generally spent most of the afternoon making our characters, and then about 10 minutes playing the actual game before getting bored.
Then, later, my brother and I managed to get "Sims: Pet Stories" for like 7 dollars; it was basically Sims 2, plus pets, with several built in stories to play.
My family consisted of myself and a horrifying abomanation made by messing with the face sliders, called Mutant Servant. I eventually had Mutant Servant adopt a child. The child was taken away by social services, so I made another horror-sim called Miss Mutant Servant and moved them into their own house.
They had a son and lived happily for a while. (The character based on me died alone and friendless after buying a cat.) Then they started to die. More specifically, the mother was eaten by a Cow Plant, and the (now-teenage) son went to a public lot and stayed there for 3 days and then came home and died of hunger. Mutant Servant pleaded with Death for his soul, and he lived. Then he went to the bathroom, used it, came out, and died again.
Mutant Servant was alone again, in an empty house. His backyard had several graves of people the cow-plant had eaten, babysitters and maids and an Uncle Mutant Servant I added one bored weekend.
I made another female Mutant Servant to live with him but I got bored with the game by then.
I've installed The Sims 3 again after finding the disk and am going to find some mods to keep me busy. This is gonna be fun.
Sims 3 is like my guilty pleasure. The Night Time expansion is actually as good as a whole new game.
I have a chance to get The Sims 3+all the Xpacks for 15 euros(Local place is having a huge sale on games) Should i get it? I think i have played approx 100-200 hours of The sims 2 total now.
Remember seeing The Sims 3 at my friends place a while ago.

Hell yeah, that's a great deal. I'm pretty sure at retail price the whole of Sims 3 comes to about £150 or something absurd.

Well considering how it adds up to over 400€ on Steam, I'd say that's a very good deal.
