World Adventures - take your sims out of the country into France, Egypt, and China, have them learn songs, make nectar, greet locals, or even do quests and venture underground tombs
Ambitions - you can now take your sims to the new professions, and see them doing their job - some jobs are just stay-at-home careers (like being a sculptor, or building gadgets, etc.), and others you'll actually have events happen (firefighter, ghost hunter, etc.), and maybe you want to even change up townies' styles with the hair or tattoo parlor professions
Late Night - your sims now have popularity, fame, and vampirism - just find ways to impress a celebrity sim and you and all your friends will become celebrities in no time; also hang out at nightclubs, or go out to a dive bar and meet a vampire to bite you and for you to continue the cycle of the vampire epidemic, all the while living in your [high rise] apartment
Generations - various interactions have been added for each life state; toddlers now have imaginary friends that may or may not come to life for them to watch each and every move your toddler does for the rest of his or her life, children can play now play in treehouses (as a rabbithole though) and have swingsets and other fun child's playsets, teens can have prom where every prom night they'll get into fights / become prom queen, young adults and adults can now have an actual wedding with a wedding arch, and elders can reminiscence about the old days.. also setting pranks on other houses and items in the home is fun also!
Pets - what's there to say? pets! with horses (and a special unicorn mount) now added - the Create a Pet feature is very dynamic, you can literally paint on them however you like!
Showtime - this is the only EP I don't have, but it has the return of genies, and you can be a magician, or a singer, or a DJ, and maybe there's more things to it?
Supernatural - this EP is stacked full of stuff! - spellcasting Witches, dog-like Werewolves, additional Vampire mechanics, Fairy tricksters, elixers, honeybees, jelly bean plants, Plants vs Zombies pre-order bonus content, golden sim/Toadification/Tragic Clown/Mummy/Zombie/etc elixirs, Bonehilda, and so much more!! - you can freely edit any of the supernaturals into any sim in Create-a-Sim, and you can also create specific ghosts with every different death
Seasons - fan-hit from TS2! no need for explanation, but it's sure to pack some heat on an icy day, also the return of aliens! - which seem rather in-depth from what has be revealed so far - each season will have a specific holiday and festival tied to them
aaand the probable University EP!
I guess there's no EP for running your own shop like in TS2 was... Yet :v:
Can't you own the bookstores and what-not in Sims 3?
But I loved OOB and running my own club from TS2.

Yes but only as a partner, in Open For Business you actually had to work there, hiring employees, and actually trying to make money.

Ahh right.
Yeah, OOB was great.

You forgot all the useless Stuff packs. I actually bought the Town Life Stuff pack and it was literally a couple of treadmills and a washing machine you can't even use.

Why do you think I didn't even bother to list them?
Okay so if you're looking for a minimal experience, and just want extra clothes and styles then get them. But you'd get much more for downloading user-made custom content. Although the High End Loft Stuff has a few classic Sims objects, like the vibrating heart bed.

The high end loft one is worth it imo.
I've bought a few stuff packs, and that was the only with enough interesting content to make it worth the money.
Really looking forward to Seasons now, it's what's really missing alongside being able to make your own store and manage it.
I think I'll get seasons when it rolls around.
Gonna have an Alien named Hugh Mann.
Since Maxis is bringing back a LOT of old expansions, will they bring back Open for Business? I loved the expansion next to University, Pets, and Nightlife.
Also, aside from Seasons I wanna get one more.
I've been perusing LGR's reviews, and I've narrowed it down. Pets or Ambitions? Or neither?
(Worth noting I only own the base game and Late Night)
Am I the only one that really isn't interested in any of The Sims 3's expansions? The only title with interesting expansions was The Sims 2. Open for Business had so much content, it was like a tycoon game within a bigger simulation game. It was mind-blowingly fun.
I hope so.
Does anybody know if they've mentioned a Sims 4 or anything yet? Expansion wise, University will be the 9th for TS3, while TS1 had 7, and TS2 had 8. Unless they're planning on just continously releasing new expansions (which I wouldn't mind), then we gotta be pretty close to the end of TS3.
It seems like the expansion packs work much better together than in TS2 .

Ambitions.
The professions are fun, with architect and stylist being the most fun, and the skills are really nifty. I also really liked the objects that came with that one.
I'm not really looking forward to a Sims 4. It would be cool, but I don't wanna get sucked into starting with no expansions again.
Ambitions.

How's the investigator job? That one sounded cool.
That's the worst one there, if only because it puts this button smack dab in the middle of your menu, and you have to click it to continue on with the case. Clicking the button autotargets whatever it is you have to do: if you need to talk to someone, it'll queue that up. If you need to search for evidence, it'll queue that up so your sim will automatically go to where the evidence is hidden. I think the only action that you can't queue up like that that with is lockpicking/breaking into a place.
It's super linear and ruins it.
The others aren't as much, though architect and stylist are the only two without any real structure at all. Those ones are just; meet with a person, figure out what they like, build an addition/make them over how you think they'd like. Or just ruin their home/image, whichever you prefer.
Aw that's a shame, I wanted to a Gruff No-Nonsense PI
Yeah, that was the disappointing thing with the expansion. I remember getting so hyped up with that profession, then being incredibly disappointed when I picked it up.
Though the others are fun. Ghost hunting is amusing, and cool since you can collect the spirits you catch , and display them in jars around your home (or sell them to science). And I believe with the firefighter profession, you can eventually get an axe, then just break peoples shit during fires.
Honestly, I feel like Ambitions is worth it soley for the fact that you can detonate things. Another sim pisses you off? Go to their house and blow up their car.
Honestly, I feel like Ambitions is worth it soley for the fact that you can detonate things.
As any true fan of the Sims would think.
I got bored and remade the L4D cast in Sims 3, built them a nice mansion and all that. Then for some fucking reason Rochelle decides to be an asshole and disappear.

I tried to reset her but that does nothing. I'll probably have to remake everything again, joy.
Scratch that, I just ran Error Trap and she appeared again. Although I would've loved to have a good reason to remake the characters again, especially Coach and Ellis.
every time this thread gets bumped I end up reinstalling the sims 3, and with expansions that's like 30gb
How does the expansions work? If I were to install every single expansion, would I be able to simply just run the latest one (Super Natural) and still be able to get all the stuff from the others (such as pets?)
And vice versa, if I were to run just Sims 3 with all expansions installed, would it be vanilla?
As long as they're installed they will all have their respective contents in the game, no matter what game you choose to load it with.
Fucking Origin, I copied over my game data (Base game, most of the expansions, some stuff packs) from my old hard drive which was all perfectly working, ran it through origin expecting it to just detect everything and work but INSTEAD IT JUST DELETED ALL OF IT AND STARTED TO DOWNLOAD IT ALL AGAIN
You forgot all the useless Stuff packs. I actually bought the Town Life Stuff pack and it was literally a couple of treadmills and a washing machine you can't even use.
The Washing machine works if you have ambitions installed, it adds in the optional laundry system which gives buffs and nerfs.

I agree though, the stuff packs are worthless and the only decent DLC is the Lucky Palms Neighborhood + Casino pack and the Fabulous Fiesta pack (below), I have everything up to Showtime but I probably will catch up when Uni comes out.

The mood buffs you get and the general balancing of the ice cream and fryer is absolutely game breaking. It doesn't cost anything to use them, and a high quality deep fried maple bacon ice cream fritter can literally give them enough boosts to negate two -50 nerfs.
Speaking about l4d, what happened to that thread where all of the l4d cast was living in a house, and they all did stupid shit, like a halloween party.
Last thing I remember, the zombies were going to live next to them.
