So far I only encountered that in case of the other Sim being in a relationship, but for a married one...
I thought you could? My sim got his girlfriend to divorce her husband once they were romantically interested. [editline]25th October 2012[/editline] Damn, I love the Sims 2, but after playing TS3 for so long it feels so different. Especially the fact I don't have to load another part of the town. It'd be nice to be able to travel to Bridgeport from a town, which I def think would be perfect for my family

It'd be nice to be able to travel to Bridgeport from a town, which I def think would be perfect for my family
Maybe I need the Charisma skill for that one. Also, hehe, I play with a pair of brothers, and the neurotic schmoozer buinessman (the one that's bangin' that married woman) got hooked up sooner than his handsome charismatic humorous fireman celebrity brother. The power of money? :v:
Is supernatural ever going to be released on steam? Wanted it for ages
Zombies feel a bit silly. All they do is walk around the house moaning, then try to get in but fail because they are uninvited, and then all a zombie attack does is make the attacked sim laugh at the zombie for a bit and move on. :v:
For those who want to move their families to a different town, while keeping everything, Nraas has a mod called Porter where you could pack all the sims in your active family and move them in a lot on a different town. The only downside to this is the only relationships you keep are the ones in the active household, but it'd be too much to keep them anyway. http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Porter Install this into your Documents -> Electronic Arts -> The Sims 3 -> Mods -> Packages (if it isn't there just make one) Once you've got that done, make sure you delete all your cache.package files in the 'The Sims 3' and 'WorldCaches' folder and thumbnail files in the 'Thumbnails' folder. If they don't disappear after you've deleted them, then they've already gone if you try to delete them again. If you don't feel complete after seeing them then just refresh the folder. Make sure you do this every time you install a mod. When you want to test Porter out, start up your save that you want to move towns with. Once everything is loaded, pause the game, and click on your household's roof. In the bubble just click "Nraas -> Porter -> Pack". You'll get a pop-up window with the surnames of every household in your town, but just select the very first one. You can pack multiple different families if you need to, and each and every Sim of the family will be in the same menu if you want to pack them, even if they aren't in the same household. The following window will have you pick what sims you want to pack. Each sim that's highlighted with yellow will be packed. Once you're dead, hit the check button, and the game will ask you to name the family. After that, the game will load as it packs your household (along with the household relationships, simoleons, inventories, careers and I think the current motives also). Once that is done, go back to the Main Menu, and start up a new save in the town you want your family to move to. Just enter in any pre-built household, and find a house elsewhere on the map you think you'd like your family to move into. Once you think you've found it, click on the roof of the household again, and click on the same interactions "Nraas -> Packer -> (but this time) Unpack". It should load as it unpacks your family to be occupied in the lot. If it turns out you've picked the wrong lot, I guess you could pack and unpack again. But I suggest downloading MasterController (using the 'Open' feature on a lot to see inside), or HomeOpener (displays every lot interior the town) so you don't have to do that every time. If you actually want to just travel to another city (which I think it's also possible to move there) there's also a mod for doing that. If anyone wants me to post about that, then I'll do it. For those who want to start installing mods but want to get started: go here, or if you don't feel like clicking on anything, follow these simple instructions: 1) Download this and drag all the contents to your "The Sims 3" folder in your Documents library. 2) Go to the "Packages" folder, and there should be two pre-installed mods 'NoBuildSparks.package' and 'nointro.package' 3) Start up your game and you know you've done it right if there aren't any intro / splash screens. (I don't know what 'NoBuildSparks' does, but I think it has something to do with installing CAS items)
Woo found a way to add custom travel area's in TS3 WA. Mod is called Nrass Traveler Mod btw. I'm gonna try and make Bridgeport a travel destination so I can visit it as if it were a nearby city, and go back to my previous city to live in.
You can do anything with the Nraas mods. I was going to suggest one for GÃwhateverthefuck's problem. On that note, try MasterController. You can edit relationships with it.
I made a young adult and dog modeled after my personality: Lazy, clueless, and hungry. Wanted to see how long they'd last without my interference. It's been about a week now and they've done nothing but sit on the couch and watch TV. Even the fucking dog.
So I guess my family is complete. My main sim is a very brave, and nice doctor. My wife is a sit-at-home mother, and my daughter is in a band. So much money in the bank, and our driveway is filled with Mazda's and Lexus's. I guess that's it for this family. And finally, they live in the town of Twinbrook, and occasionally visit Bridgeport for clubs and/or visiting relatives. If only I could replicate this in The Sims 2.
I think the hard thing about The Sims is making the game hard. You can make a stable family and there is nothing interesting about it. You need a family of loonies if you want a good game, or at least one crazy person to have that disruptive factor. That, or an odd goal/career that is more than just "walk in the building and wait".

The babysitter either watches TV or actually babysits, and half the time it's watching TV.
I think it's hard in itself to have an epic lifespan for both Sims and pets, and then have a one sim and one pet household and work at a high-interaction job such as firefighter, doctor, or PI
I was able to make one of those forever live potions. It kinda got sucky though cause whilst my sim was stuck forever in his adult stage. His wife, kids etc had died from old age. But as a bonus, he ended up rich as hell. And the auto live the sims has seemed to make it so my sims kids didn't have their own.
It's such a bitch raising babies, especially on the epic lifespan. My female young adult Sim fucked the dad of the family (not related), but he was also a ghost, so then they had a ghost baby. She also had a secret affair with the teen son of the father she had a child with, then they ended up having a baby. Goddamn ghost baby hasn't even grown into a child yet. TWO babies had to be taken care of, until I decided for my newly-grown Rebellious Young Adult Sim (who happens to be the only with moral values out of the whole family) to go from ginger to died teal hair, and move out of that place to fulfill her goal of becoming a Witch. The mom also had wedded and procreated with the Rebellious Sim's ex-boyfriend and she moved out to live with him (and his parents and two other siblings). But I had them all reunite to move to a different town to end up reuniting with their long lost son in Appaloosa Plains who happens to be The Emperor of Evil in the Criminal career track. This game is the best.
I set Sim lifespans to Long... But I'm thinking of Making it Epic, because I enjoy this shit too much. Changing it changes the remaining lifespan of existing Sims, right?
I set my toddlers and babies to a 3 day lifespan because I find then boring as fuck v:v:v
I set my toddlers and babies to a 3 day lifespan because I find then boring as fuck v:v:v
Being able to tweak life lenght for each age is the best idea ever. I'll probably do that too.

In the Sims 2 you had to buy clothes and go food shopping but they took that out for this. If I had it my way I'd have it the same as Sim City, where you had to manage loans, mortgages, pensions, insurance etc, more real life stuff that can make the game more challenging.
Shit, having three kids in one family isn't easy in a 4 bed house. Had to push my income for a butler, butlers are god damn annoying at times. And quit when you never talk to them. You had to buy more clothes from stores, could only make food if you had the ingredients. And finding a sim to marry was difficult unless you went downtown.
Is there a way to ask someone to move in to your house, besides marriage?
Is there a way to ask someone to move in to your house, besides marriage?
There should be. Get the Sim in a high relationship. I'm guessing best friends or best friends forever.
Yeah. You have to have a high friendship with them (I think Best Friend tier, or whatever the highest is), and it should pop up under Friendly if you invite them over.
Is there anyway to adopt your own child? if my male sim has a baby with a townie then she keeps it at her house, is the only way to adopt it to marry her then divorce her?
What are the chances of my Sim successfully proposing to someone with the Loner trait? :v:
Is there anyway to adopt your own child? if my male sim has a baby with a townie then she keeps it at her house, is the only way to adopt it to marry her then divorce her?
As far as I'm concerned, you could do that, or you can switch to that household and put the baby up for adoption. Unless she was abusive, why wouldn't you want to just at least live with her and help support the baby :v:
What are the chances of my Sim successfully proposing to someone with the Loner trait? :v:
Traits in a relationship don't matter as long as they both love each other!!

I think that's the only way, other than marrying/inviting the townie to move in with you.
They should make a morph between the Sims and Simcity. You can live in a city you created. That would be awesome.
Is it me, or did Showtime fuck up the loading times? Takes ages to get in to CaS. I guess I need to remove some expansions and some mods.

I played the Sims 3 up to KPST when my game decided to corrupt itself and I ended up uninstalling it. I picked up the remaining Sims 2 Expansions and Stuff Packs I didn't own (I only had the EPs up to OfB, none of those SP) and when I played it, I actually enjoyed it more than I did the 3rd one even though you can't travel and such. The thing that made me dumbfounded about it is that in the Sims 3, the cars would teleport out of the lot space and into the road and the Sim would teleport into the car. I decided to buy a car and a lot for the Sims 2 to go downtown, and I can't believe they actually had animations for getting into the car, reversing the car out of the parking spot and when coming home driving into the parking spot and opening the doors to get out.
